XBL: Games with Gold

I'm liking Thief. It reminds me a lot of Wolfenstein 2009 in a lot of ways. For some reason it didn't click when I owned it on the XB1, but it did for the 360 version for some reason.

i dont see the appeal, but my friend loves it. He has it on almost every console it has come out on. Bought it day one ps4, got it on ps3 with +, and now the 360 version. He has actually almost 100% completed all 3 versions too

As a new Xbox One owner I'm kinda wanting either Dead Rising 3 Apocalypse Edition, Mortal Kombat X, Assassin's Creed Unity or Forza Horizon 2 to be one of July's games.

I wonder if they will start using xbox 360 games in games with gold for Xbox one sometimes now that they have backwards compatibility.

Edit: Sorry. I see this had already been discussed.

Ryse is awful. Why do people keep asking for it. DR3 is fun though, but I already played it to death so I wouldn't download it again.

The same reason why people keep asking for Knack on PS+. They are clearly the best games on their systems which is why they are requested so much.

Because its a launch title and its about time for a Triple A game. I only got an Xbox One when Sunset Overdrive came out so I'd love to play Ryse and or DR3. It's better than Pool Nation FX.

Xbox seriously should've put the Xbox One version of Thief on Games With Gold.

Did people learn nothing from past GwG releases? don't keep your hope high people, you gonna be disappointed.

Makes sense.

If Ryse ever gets released as a GWG I hope it opens up a lot of people's eyes regarding that game.

I get that some people do not value cinematic action fests and QTEs. But if you legitimately like QTEs then Ryse is fucking incredible.

It always mystifies me the hate that QTEs get. QTEs are great for two reasons: 1) They let you do impossible things. For example, in God Of War, there is no mechanism that allows you to freely and in real-time perform crazy backflips, ride a monster, and rip its head off. It's a beat-em-up with standard melee attacks. But the developer can leverage a QTE sequence to allow you to perform those fantastical feats, otherwise impossible in normal game play, if you push the right button combination, and 2) They test your hand-eye coordination. It's incredibly fun to quickly react to a button press on-screen and get the right button combination pushed in. That's the whole entire premise of Rock Band - see button, push button, and do that over and over really really fast. It feels GOOD to succeed based on twitch hand-eye coordination alone.

With Ryse the melee combat is centred around that sort of hand-eye coordination. Your first few hits are usually just normal melee sword slashes. But once you get enough hits in you can go into an execution spree, and those execution sprees are where you can chain multiple QTE-executions in a row. Your enemy becomes colour-coded, so if he's yellow you need to hit the yellow Y button, and if he's blue you need to hit the blue X button. Not only that but during those QTE-executions everything is in slow-mo, which adds that extra oopmh to make the executions more satisfying.

I wish Ryse made the QTEs even more varied. It would have been much more satisfying had the colour-coded execution sections included green (for A) and red (for B) as well.

We will never see Ryse I fear. I dont think that microsoft want to give crytek any money.

Anyway, GwG on the xbone is terribad. I dont think microsot give a shit in all honesty.

Massive Chalice will most likely continue (sorry Pool fans) and another indie title will be added... I've also heard that Forza 5 would be added to hype up 6's release but got canned because it was a game that demanded a long engagement and would make people actually not buy 6 since they wouldn't be finished with 5 by the release window.

is there any way to 'buy' the 360 GWG games on the web, if I don't have a 360? Now they are starting to do some nice big releases, and with BC coming, it would be good to have some in my digital backlog ready for when those games get BC.

Just buy them through xbox.com. Works a treat.

You can't have one part of the game it doesn't work like that.

I don't see why not. Don't forget that they're the publisher and have every ability to ask for a bespoke version for GWG purposes. It ought not to be too hard to implement; particularly given how the game installs.

Consider it the GWG equivalent of the Driveclub PS+ edition.
