Well, I'm not defending Deej at all because what he said made him sound like an ass and he wasn't being interpreted through any other filter. Like I said though, I think the actual product is stupid, I just feel bad for Luke for being put into this position at all.It was implied that it would and it was originally going to until they removed it to add to TTK. At least, that is the implication as they said they removed it to release it this fall, coincidentally when the TTK is releasing. They have not said if it will be free to owners of HoW but, seeing the pricing model and this non-apology pricing, i would say no, it wont be free and it will be the TTK raid.
Fine, the author should have inserted "j/k" in there. Whatever. He still said what he said, gave shit answers to the interview and then the follow up from Deej was even more insulting. Deej basically said "I hear your complaints, but the CE is already sold out and going for twice what we were charging on eBay, so *shrug*."
I mean, the only other E3 interview I saw with Luke was at Giantbomb, and it was basically all joking and drinking while also pushing the game. I'm sure there are quotes that you can take from that to make him look just as bad if someone wanted to.Not being sarcastic does not equate to "robot automatons who are emotionless PR spouting machines." There's no reason he couldn't have been personable without being sarcastic. It isn't an either-or type scenario. He shouldn't have brought that kind of humor to the table knowing it could backfire. Do you think he interviewed at Bungie like that? No. He knows when to turn it off and when to keep it on, and he made a mistake in doing so.

People like Luke Smith are great for ragtag games podcasts, but they are poison to multi-million dollar project ships.
Destiny going so over budget, releasing in such anaemic shape, and then still finding ways to incite fans a year on shows the level of disconnected arrogance you've let take the captain's chair. Half billion dollar marketing campaigns certainly buy a lot of momentum, but even Kinect had to die a death sometime too.

Agreed, the furore certainly seems to have had an effect. I suspect it took this long because they thought it'd blow over, but people just weren't having it. I've no interest in this game, but well done to everyone that made a fuss - your voices have been heard. As to whether this outcome is fair / good or not, I don't know because I don't know enough about it. Never played the first game.Interesting times we live in. Activision really had to pull back. It shows internet backlash truly can change situations and add pressure on a companies business plan on a regular everyday basis. This news about Taken king broke out a week ago?
All I can do is sigh. They became storefronts and teases for up-sells and cross-sells. Not since the days of plugging quarters into arcades has the actual prices involved been so upfront a part of the process. We literally need spreadsheets to break down all the editions and retailer exclusives and pre-orders and promotions, etc - and now we have one heavy hitting game pushing a multi-year DLC strategy we haven't really seen on the consoles.
Shit is crazy all around but Destiny and its ruthlessly ambitious ten year plan is something else.
This seems like the kind of shit that CD Projekt Red would hand out for free in their free DLC campaign...
"We're sorry. Please pay $20 to accept our apology."
fuck video games
it's 155$ not 100$ so we're here talking about the price of 2 new games at launch with full price and 35$ to save for a third game also at launch with full price. You might find that the money-to-value is good in Destiny and what have you got justifies the amount of money you payed but for me and for many others in the thread it doesn't by any means. If they offered all of this for 100$ I might have accept it but to charge 155$ and then talk about "we care about our loyal fans" is bullshit to me. And for the full picture they did that to themselves. They had the respect of many people and they lost it because of their actions. If they want to blame someone they have no one but themselves to blame, and how does the campaign length not matter exactly? If the campaign was double then you would have had some hours of content to play. Just because you played for X number of hours doesn't make a few more hours of content any less significant.
And whales can swim away.
Taken King?
More like Taken for a Ride.
That's a hell of an olive branch.
I don't recall them ever saying the House of Wolves would feature a Raid.

They did the right think.
Now I can get the same than CE Edition paying $60.
That was the issue before because I needed to spend $80.
Physical and digital have the same price now.

Really? It was on the leaked roadmap. Besides, who didn't think it was coming with a Raid? They could have also said when they announced the DLC (before the game was out and people found out they tore the story out)
.
I highly doubt any regular destiny player will only buy the $40 TTK expansion alone now. so more extra $20 for Bungie

Bungie/Activision are gonna clean up with the emote pack. Publishers think they can treat gamers like shit because 99% of the time they can get away with it. There's a reason we have pre order content, retailer exclusive content, day 1 dlc, disc-locked content, broken games on release, etc. Sure, some people complain and a few might actually not buy the game, but it's not nearly enough to make that stuff not worth doing. Even on GAF you still have people screaming "DAY 0!!!" for fucking Fallout 4 even though Bethesda games have been bug-ridden dumpster fires for years.
The only issue was you need to pay $80 to get the CE Digital no matter what you have. How is that the right thing? The apologists are nearly as bad as Bungie. The actual right thing is to give everyone that bought everything already all the extras that they're giving the people that bought none.
Considering the sales and general positive opinion of Destiny, I feel like a stronger case could be made that we are disconnectedThey are so disconnected.
They are so disconnected.
Bethesda Studios games might be buggy but they offer a ton of content for your money. Until they go "Destiny" on us I will consider them one of the good guys.

They fixed the issue... now you can get the CE at $60 if you have the previous Destiny + Expansions.
Before: You need to pay +$40 do get the Digital CE Edition.
Now: You need to pay +$20 to get the Digital CE Edition.
It is the same for Retail and Digital... no more issue.
I will upgrade my digital preorder to CE Edition with addiction cost of $20 now... before I needed to spent $40.
That was no the only issue dude :/
Let me get this straight - this "massive" expansion is $40, or 2/3 the cost of the full game, and then some emotes and shaders are $20, or 1/2 the cost of the entire expansion?
Did I miss something? So to get the expansion AND the CE content you're paying $60, aka the same price as the full game?

Destiny wasn't even worth $60 when it launched as well.
