High Schoolers honestly all look younger than we're preconditioned to think. I feel like expectations of how old someone should look in high school have been morphed by movies and television shows always casting someone in their mid to late twenties as a high schooler.

This. Go to high school again, guys. They'll look 12 to you.

I agree that the fact that he's already getting picked on by Internet dwellers means he's a great choice for Peter Parker. Plus, looking at those Instagram videos, he's got the moves. Who cares if he's short. It doesn't matter in movies.

Marvel did it again.

Holy fuck.

How the hell?

But this is actually being produced by Marvel Studios, which means this will likely be the last reboot.

Still. That quote about 5 Spider-Man movies in the last 13 years... jeez. 6 movies in fifteen years, plus sequels after. The public burnout could be real.

People think one of the reasons Jurassic World did well is because we haven't really seen dinosaurs since before there were Spider-Man movies

Yep.

Movies do a good job of hiding height. I remember when I saw Seth Green and he was the same height as my friend who is like 5'1" or 5'2". Seth claims to be 5'4".

Yeah, I've been shoulder-to-shoulder with Seth Green and no way is he 5'4".

Going with a much younger relative unknown was the smartest play probably. I'll miss Garfield though.

Tell that to the Fast and Furious movies :)

what makes chunky spider man superior?

its just a matter of taste, I grew up with Arnold movies, more muscles = more bad ass and more powerful.

In spidey 1 when toby look in the mirror and was pretty jacked, it was just impressive and gave me the impression that hes was very powerful.

Time constraints of the movie format.

I still wish we could have a Spider-Man television series. I feel like his soap opera-ish plots would really work best in that long form, serialized format, as opposed to the sort of Big Event plots that we're likely to get in films.

They definitely would. But it would cost a hell of a lot of money.

Just hope they dont turn him into a godamn millenial. Marvel plz.

He's going to be, there's no getting around it. In fact, if he's in high school in this, he was born right around 2000. Meaning he's on the younger end of Gen Y, pretty damn close to Z. If they don't characterize him like someone that age, it'll be odd.

But hey, that can lead to some great character moments as he plays off people like Stark and Cap. Stark is more than old enough to be his dad... they're like, over thirty years apart. But I think that can result in a pretty awesome dynamic as we hopefully get to compare their different approaches to being in the super hero biz (not to mention they're from wildly different walks of life anyway).

I get this for sure.

It's definitely a problem that every super hero film seems to need to have world ending stakes. Some characters just aren't suited to stories of that scope. I mean, his powers relate to him being able to climb walls and swing on webs. Fighting crime, yes. Saving the world, not so much.

Would have preferred the sidekick from Teen Wolf.

Did they get rid of his mole? Some pictures I don't see it anymore.

You do realize he could kill Captain America with one punch?

Aren't audiences tired of Spiderman reboots by now?

Even Batman had some rest time between reboots.

It's hard to say. Personally, I welcomed a reboot after Spider-Man 3, and then again after Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Spider-Man in MCU was always the impossible dream. Now it's happening. I think audiences will show up to Civil War big time to see Spidey in this universe for the first time. More than they did for Avengers 2.

I find it funny how many people confusingly thought that Marvel had full rights or decisions to Spider-Man in threads within the last few weeks and even when we have a press release that specifically says "Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios are proud to announce that after a full worldwide casting search", Marvel is the only one mentioned.

I guess we are going to continue to get people that are confused about the arrangement.

Not all of us, I was the one who made the "It's Sony's car, Marvel's just the designated driver" analogy since Day 1.

If Spiderman had been in Civil War they wouldn't have had to load up the disks on each helicarrier, he would have hacked them from his Dell Inspiron and rewrote the software.

Seems so. Funny how his new picture seems to surfaced just this month prior from this announcement.

I'm guessing he realized his public pictures won't garner much confidence from Spiderman fans.

Or maybe he was just self-conscious about it, as dozens of posts in this thread have well validated by now. :lol

They should stick that on the poster with an asterisk that says 'a legally binding promise'.

And if this does work then it will be a case of recasting rather than rebooting which we already know is something that they plan to do with Downey's Iron Man at some point.

I still don't know whether I hate him or his character in The Impossible. At least it's not Asa Butterfield, so that's something.
