Wow. Out of touch doesn't even begin to describe this...

The dissent coming from the internet rabble against this is great. I've already read it heralded as the collapse of society, a new dark age, and a cultural 9/11.

Keep 'em coming folk!

This could be the biggest move forward for civil rights in our lifetimes. Those of us not alive in the 60s anyway.

Shouldn't have needed to go the courts in the first place, but at least it has at last happened. American legislators should feel ashamed they hadn't done this themselves.

Congratulations, everyone! I'm also shocked that it's such a narrow decision, but those dissents make for a nice historical record of everything we've fought against. I doubt I'll manage to make it into work today, somehow.

Now for a really memorable Pride weekend!

I still find it amazing that both Spain and Brazil legalised same sex marriage. Spain being one of the first countries to do it baffles me even more.

Anyone has a good article about how that happened ?

And yeah congratz 'murica ! Thanks to you we're one step closer to the end of the World ! Lord have mercy on us !

Just an amazing day. Definitely one for the history books. Congratulations, everyone!

My brother's getting married to his boyfriend sometime this year, gotta imagine how ecstatic they are over this.

Fucking amazing! Congratulations to all of the happy couples! I'm glad I am alive to witness such a historic day.

The Gay Pride Parades will be awesome this weekend.

Dining on salt:
This is SO bad. I’m just glad I don’t live near any coastlines or fault lines. This is going to be a real SHTF time. Just the other day, a tree, must have been at least 50 years old, just a few blocks from where I work, blue down in a freak squall. Big trees are not supposed to just uproot for no reason. Bad omen? You betcha. Reckon I’ll be stocking up on bottled water and batteries.

That's because there really is no Constitutional justification for the decision reached here. Much like Roe v. Wade, the justices had a policy decision they wanted to achieve and they came up with some vague appeal to the Constitution to make it look like they were following their traditional responsibility of interpreting the Constitution when the Supreme Court for the most part abandoned that a long time ago.

How does the 14th Amendment not apply to same-sex marriage?

This is so weak.
