Crying like a baby.
We'll head down to the marriage license office later today. We've been waiting a loooong time.

Argle-bargle, bitches!
Congrats!!

Wonder what constitutional scholars are going to think of "ask the nearest hippie" 100 years from now.
Seriously. Hopefully this moron will be the laughing stock of history. Can't believe he's sitting on the Supreme Court of the most powerful nation on Earth.

Justice Thomas dissent.

WTF?
Even if he defines dignity as some sort of vague feeling that can't ever be touched, this is beyond stupid, because this is about civil rights, not fucking dignity. This same nonsense could be used to justify all manners of civil and basic rights infringements, including the slavery he himself cites. Holy shit...

You can still be fire for being gay in a lot of states.

Yeah, the court stopped short of applying equal protection. However the internet makes it pretty difficult to fire someone for that reason alone through public shaming of corporate America.

The internet cannot however compel the government to issue marriage certificates through similar means.

Black presidents, Confederate flags falling, gays getting married.

This is some kind of hellscape right now for conservatives.

Some of the chat on SCOTUSblog yesterday suggested that theoretically, post-presidency, Obama could be nominated to the Supreme Court; apparently Taft was.

Now that's a hellscape for the right!

Great, the salt on the right will be delicious and the religious nut jobs are going to go off the deep end, I can feel it and it might not be a good thing.

Man, this huckabee guy is actually running for president? Who would vote for such a person. Everything that comes out of his mouth just makes me mad.

A lot of people, maybe close to half the country.

My wife actually said to me "guess I won't be talking to my mom tonight" because she doesn't want to deal with the religious BS.

Right, how is this so hard to understand.

This isn't about religious liberty, it is about equality under the law.

Beautiful

I know so many other Christians that are also applauding this decision

You can have beliefs and still love what America stands. People should recognize and be grateful that we have a safe place to practice freedom at all

I...really didn't expect there to be this much discord in this thread. Where have these people been?

No matter, you are not validated by your religion in your hating ways.

They've always been here. Just because someone doesn't run around yelling slurs all the time doesn't mean they aren't bigoted. People you/I consider to be "good people" can have pretty hateful opinions.

There was one thread about creationism I think, something like asking if gaffers believed in. I cant find it now but I remember it was not pretty

Creationism is subject to whatever criticism it deserves. It makes zero sense. The Grand Canyon's very existence displays in crystal-clear detail why it makes no sense. Rock layers that provably take hundreds of millions of years to form couldn't have happened in 6 thousand, so people who continue to believe in creationism are being stupid on purpose. Sorry...?

So glad for gay couples across the country.

Of course, we know what's coming. There were clergy and even court workers talking about they would refuse to comply with the ruling if it was for gay marriage; vowing to fight for Gawd's herly werd!

Still, an important step.

Also, it's going to be hard to get work done today; so many conservative forum tears to enjoy.

A lot of people, maybe close to half the country.

According to the polls even that 'half' of the country isn't so hot on him.

About goddamn time, we still have so much progress to make on social issues and we're so far behind some European countries but we will get there step by step.

My wife actually said to me "guess I won't be talking to my mom tonight" because she doesn't want to deal with the religious BS.

Yea, my mother is the same way. Conservative Christian. Doesn't believe in it. But whatever. I told her she doesn't have to agree with someone's choices and her religion is no reason to limit someone's rights via the State.

Good day for Freedom.

Well, he's about to go to the funeral of that State Senator who was gunned down in that Charleston church. They were friends I believe.

oh shit, I heard about that on the radio this morning, forgot that it was today. Makes sense then.

Probably would have been better to give his thoughts after the funeral, like in the afternoon. I get that it's a historic occasion but media should have waited a couple hours on it.

I walked out to my patio and saw a spider having a laugh with a couple of flies. then they all left together.

is this what bms meant...????

I dont think we are in the clear here..

nehooo..

lol@ bigots.

Had tumblr crashed yet? Lol.

Just told my wife it might be a good idea to stay off Facebook for awhile. Lots of rednecks on her side of the family.

Louisiana Secretary of State isn't responding to questions right now. Many clerks are waiting on his word. Stay tuned.
(New Orleans weddings are in a holding pattern right now)
