Constitutional crisis incoming?
Fox News just said Texas was being reluctant and giving strong statements about the issue and in giving out licenses to gay couples.
Its a law now, so aren't they breaking the law then?
Those other countries were already godless hellholes, now the last bastion, the country divined from His Will lies in ruins. How can people think this will bring any... uh, divine punishment, when several countries have gone through this before? Heck, even states within the US. Did the apocalypse wait until it was legal nationwide? Is America the only country that gets punished because of gay marriage? Jeez.
Okay, they've updated.. he's just "begging" clerks to not issue licenses. Not sure how much force of law his begging carries.![]()
Here in Nebraska, Governor Ricketts didn't make himself seem really stupid for a change:
Unfortunately the Attorney General did not...

It's law in 72 hours.
So I think... they can delay it until it's legit law.

Shame. What's the point of having Supreme Court, son.

It's not a law, it's a Supreme Court ruling. What it means is that cities and towns must grant them, and they'll be handled by the Justice department if they don't. Any cities or states that don't will either be taken to court, and lose, or couples will go to the next city over and get one, and then it'll be held up in state court.
They'll get a taste of FREEDOM.Oh damn. So what happens if they refuse?
Apparently Texas has a 72 hour waiting period, I would not expect them to waive that waiting period now (although, one could argue they have been waiting YEARS)
If they are refusing to have them start the standard 72 hour wait then that's another matter.
Funny thing about Scalia: his brand of whatever did cause him, in todays second opinion, to write a pretty liberal crim pro holding
Thats his one area where hes at least in areas a leftward driver on the Court

Some conservatives have advocated for a civil disobedience effort against a Supreme Court decision in favor of same-sex marriage. However, officials in red states told The Huffington Post recently that they are prepared to implement the decision, going so far as to ready gender-neutral marriage licenses and set later office hours. Gerard Rickhoff, who oversees marriage licenses in Bexar County, Texas, said that if same-sex couples are discriminated against elsewhere in the state, "Just get in your car and come on down the highway. You'll be embraced here."
Just grab the first person you see and force them into it. It's not like marriage means anything in this country anymore.Oh okay, reason its a big deal for me is I live in Texas. Though I'm not in a relationship right now, so marriage for me is probably not possible any time soon.

Bear County, San Antonio, seems like they will be starting today. They came out and said they don't expect a long delay and there are already people lining up.
