this is probably the best way to describe it. but most Republicans go on and on about small government and overregulation.

at this point conservatives are really just out of touch, morally bankrupt old white men.

To be fair back in 2004 I probably thought the same.. or just simply as a whatever-issue since I was much younger and dumber and didn't care or need to care; I was informed by conservative ideas (mostly residual from my parent's parents thoughts), and who used "that's gay" as slang.

I don't anymore and the news about it being legal has me so freaking happy for the USA! I hated that I thought so narrowly now, but hindsight is 20/20 and politicians I'm sure have compromised their feelings for votes and have changed positions on matters as new information rolls in.

It's also Pride Week in Canada and its been just all around a wonderful week to celebrate love in all shapes in forms. Happy, happy day! And a happy pride to all. :)

And some Utena and Anthy to celebrate for being ahead of their time

In relation to trans people it's not something to celebrate (IGN's tweet). Today in general is something to celebrate.

Some places in Canada still only have pride week? Here in Halifax we have a pride month!
 
Jeb Bush's both-sides-of-his-mouth response to this is just pathetic. Dude is trying his absolute hardest to be the least offensive GOP candidate possible.
 
It's difficult to believe that we are still dealing with human rights like these in 2015. This should have been done years ago. Great victory, nevertheless.

I really fucking hope so.

The best part is how quickly the polls shift. Every time a state legalized gay marriage support for it rose very quickly in the next few months when people realized society didnt collapse
 
If one knows the decision they make shall affect their good name for the rest of their natural lives and for as long as the United States remains a nation-state, why would they go against the correct tide?

Those four judges, as the Onion post puts it, shall be seen as backwards, villainous fools from today onwards in history. The textbooks will select pieces of their dissent in the civil rights section of the early 21st century as a means of displaying conservative backlash.

Not when you're argument is SCOTUS cannot interpret the law, it's the whole purpose of SCOTUS to interpret the law. That's not a valid argument being that's what the supreme courts purpose is. They are the final word on what is and isn't law. They supersede every law making body in the US because they are the SCOTUS.


Also comparing really shitty slavery cases to gay people being allowed to marry is really telling.
 
Forgive me for asking if this was already answered, but where the hell did this come from? I saw no one talking about there being a vote on this within the past few days, which normally would have been huge news. The first I'm hearing of it is today, when it was declared a right. Why was no one talking about this before hand?

I drove around today and it was absolutely gorgeous. Sun shining, flowers growing, kids playing.

Why aren't fireballs raining from the sky and Thunderdome ruling the streets like Fox News told us?
 
I hope this decision means that the younger generation of LGBT folks will have a much better life than what I or other people from previous generation has had.

Many of the backwards states that banend gay marriage would consider Birdo a man (as she was at birth) and not have allowed her to marry Yoshi. Now they can. This is good.
 
with all of these people exclaiming that this is against god - do they shout so loudly about other sins supported by the state - such as the right to have sex before marriage, or divorce?

If you're going to be irrational and play the religion card, you should at least do it consistently.
