Gay marriage salt thread

Like, to each their own, if gays want to marry then that's fine by me. But seeing the GAF logo change now? That's like the prime example of shoving things down out throats, no pun intended. I'm happy for them, but come on.

Check out what companies are posting on twitter. That should make you feel better :D

I think a lot of you misinterpreted my post as some anti-gay criticism, which it wasn't. Forget what I said, bad for morale.

It's a great occasion, gay marriages have been legalised after years and years of fights (even brutal ones) on this front. You say that we're celebrating something that should be normal...but guess what, it wasn't till yesterday. It should be, but it wasn't. Now, it is, and the fact that it's as it should be deserves celebrations. Happiness because US made a radical change for the better...and considering how US are relevant in the world, it's probably going to influence other countries in doing so, in making things "normal", as they should be, as you say.

The reality is, gay people exist and have a right to exist. It's not shoving things in your face. We just exist period. We could be one of your family members, your friend, your neighbour, your teacher. Are you going to avoid them if you find out that they are gay? Are you gonna ask them not to talk to you when they find someone that they like and want to date? Because if you do, it'll make them sad and unwanted. Why would you want to do that to someone you possibly know and care for?

Evilore wasn't shoving anything to anyone. This is his website and we are his visitors. He wanted to celebrate the day and what he did is seriously mild in comparison to what you'd find IRL when you are faced with LGBT people. It's not shoving anything down. We already exist out there and you can either continue to be uncomfortable and alienate those you care for OR you can learn to slowly accept that we exist.

Saw the logo and followed the salt trail to this thread to find what the fuss is all about. Congratualtions USA! No salt, just happiness and recognition from me. And love the small gesture of changing the site logo to mark the occasion. Well done!

Yeah. "supposed to be as normal as day". And yet it hadn't been. Until literally yesterday.

Wonder why people are celebrating.

And it still isn't seen as normal; which is pretty much the whole point of this thread. Tons of people still have zero respect for LGBT people. It's important to celebrate to show that their hate is the thing that is abnormal and should not be tolerated.

No I understood what you meant.

But what, pray tell, would you think would make sense for them to ever change their logo to? Christmas? Election Day? War ending?

Or should NeoGAF be so neutral that they should respect the views of bigots? Thing about marriage equality, is that it doesn't affect people who are against it. No one is being turned gay. Obama isn't serving everyone Heinz Baked Beans as a mandatory meal. He's letting people do as they please.

NeoGAF having a rainbow isn't forcing anyone to change how they are. It's celebrating that people can do what they should have been able to do for a long time.

im full of salt

fucking salty as hell. holy shit I am salty

just had a mcdonalds big tasty. dat sodium. congrats, USA

America forcing the religious people to go to hell, it's pretty funny. If you are not religious it's a big win however.

So religious people aren't allowed to support human rights? My local vicar is gay. I'm sure this ruling (and the previous ruling here in the UK) was a big win for him.

Okie dokie!
THis just reeks of 'if you don't like it, git out' that the other side of the debate used before legalization.

Everyone has the right to believe something (even if it's complete fantasy-land bullshit and based on no logical basis) and can lobby for the government changing laws. If they don't succeed, that doesn't mean they should just 'git out'. By that token all the gays, blacks, democrats/republicans when they lose the presidential election should just leave the country.

I'm for the thread in pretty much every gaddamn way, but keep it at least more intelligent than the bigots who advertise for your banishment ;). That being said, we might be much better off If a large portion of them left.... ;0

That being said, philosophoraptor is awesome.

Just going by the Bible and Quran. It's not like in science where you can change things as you like.

Oh, yeah, I definitely didn't mean to imply that gay marriage is all of a sudden universally accepted in the US; just normal as far as federal law is concerned. Wonder which state will be the slowest to comply.

Damn you AmethystEnd

'bout damn time I'm on the receiving end of this comment. :D

Posted this in the avatar thread but might as well post it here too since there's so many talented people:

Could someone possibly rainbow-ify this avatar?

Clothes/headband/ribbon would be preferable, but just a rainbow background would be cool if it's too much work.

Thank you :)

Phew, bit longer than I expected, sorry!

Hahaha, missed you posting these because playing DOTA2 lol

Amazing!! Gotta make a decision...

I don't understand people being upset about this.

Maybe it's just the way I was brought up and the church I was in but we were thought not to judge others.

And really what the government allows has nothing to do with what the Bible/religion allows. Why should the government serve anything but as many of its citizens as it can?

Just so everybody understands how whacko Jindal is getting over this, he had a prayer rally in January that featured, like, half the people who were made fun of in this thread. Now h wants to change to constitution, too.

Because some people are just hateful, or only really care about themselves. They just wear a mask of religion without taking to heart some of its core principles.

Can't wait for the paradigm shift in the church and the future claiming that Christianity was pro-homosexuality all the time - like they are doing it with pretty much all human rights.

Oh wow, that Texas minster really did do it and set himself on fire.

Nah, he already made a statement saying he wasn't literal.

I made that comment to paraphrase a spiritual song, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in which the three were given a choice—to bow to the image of Nebucahdnezzar or burn in a furnace,” said Scarborough.”‘We will burn’ means that we will accept any sanction from the government for resisting today’s Supreme Court decision. We do not support any violence or physical harm.
