This is really good to hear. I live in Lubbock and (as far as I read a few hours ago) they're using the "waiting on new forms"approach.

Good thing I don't have any reason to be near the courthouse in downtown Decatur. Place is probably gonna be packed.

By tolerant I meant accepting, loving, etc.

No need to get angry friend.

Tolerant does not mean to begrudge at all in this context, it's a synonym for acceptance.
 
Went to Stonewall last night, it was an absolute blast, so many very very very happy people. There were so many people just hugging everyone around them, it was really beautiful.

From there I went to BK so that we could have some drinks with a few of our friends who were partying in Bushwick, and that scene was much younger and also filled with happy people.

The generational difference between the two places was telling.

Stonewall was filled with generally older LGBT people who weren't so much elated as shocked happy. Probably because they lived through the 60s, 70s and 80s. The younger generation (and at 30, I'm definitely part) had much more of a "well of course, why did it take so long?'

A lot more tears of Joy at Stonewall, and a lot more shots in Bushwick.

All around, yesterday was a very very good day.

I think in my lifetime there have been 4 really important world changing events.

Fall of the Soviet Union, 9/11, Barrack Obama's election and yesterday.

Here is hoping Hillary gives me a 5th.

Most buildings have LED lights at this point, and it's relatively inexpensive to have color options for them.

I do not however think Empire State was lit up last night. 1WTC was rainbow, but ESB was white. They typically light it up for Pride weekend, so I'm guessing that was an oversight? Not sure.

This is a great post, thanks. I haven't been to NYC / lived there for a few years, but I would have loved to have seen this. At least you gave me a birds eye view, means a lot.
 
I love how gloriously colourful everything is right now - not just social media but so many landmarks and monuments too. Magical.

I'm going to swing by the Minneapolis bridge this evening. They light it up most years for pride and it looks stunning over the water

Except that when it comes to gay people tolerace means we still have shit like "Love the person, but hate the sin". Which basically means we love you... until you start talking about your "disgusting lifestyle". Or the less religious standpoint of "We have no problem with gay people, we just don't want it shoved in our faces".

That's tolerance, not acceptance.

I wasn't born yet for the first of these, but I completely agree that the other three just felt like such momentous occasions - for good or, in the case of 9/11, ill, it felt very special to be alive as they were happening and you could feel the world shifting under your feet.

I'm still tearing up! Like part of me just still can't believe this is happening, even though I had known it should/would/could for a very long time.

Did I miss something big? Because having to buy shitty insurance through my work that has like a 6k deductible before it even pays for anything doesn't strike me as Universal Health Care.

And honestly, due to what you said, I'd find such a display pretty inappropriate in Germany. They can do that when we get SSM.
 
Yeah, last night was surreal. I think there was a general sense of wonderment to it. It felt a lot less SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS! than something celebratory.

Like our logo on here, there's an interesting trend to show support. Probably partially because of pride but also because of the win. I was a bit surprised to see some of the ones on there like github, who has even changed the logo on their site. Pretty awesome to see this.

I don't much care for how that rainbow filter people are using for their Facebook profile images looks, so I went with something a little bit... similar but different.

Not familiar with US legislature, but can a court decide this? Shouldn't new laws, or law amendments pass through the legislative body, congress and senate? Or do the courts in the US have more power than other countries?
