Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

I found a great one

Qf1amzT.png

It knows me so well already.
Lol

oh okay so I might not be the one causing it
I think its me tonight. Going to play by myself for a bit. I'm really tired so I doubt I'll be on long anyways.

The update slows ninja swimming down more significantly than it did previously

Gon get nerfed
I saw that, but that doesn't change what it does. Unless it's a big Nerf I don't understand why you'd stop using it.

I hope people do stop using it as it makes it a while lot easier to kill you when I can see you

nah we already had plenty of disconnects today, might be something up with the servers
I just noticed that there was a lot of lag between us in the couple of matches we played, but then again the entire room was quite laggy for me

Alright, so this test works to determine the ping/jitter/packet loss between a server in the UK and your router:

http://www.freeola.com/line-test

I get 88.6ms ping (east coast US), no packet loss, and 1ms jitter.

Unfortunately, that doesn't factor in any issues that could be happening between my router and my Wii U, making this test a little pointless for people with bad WiFI or faulty ethernet adapters. I'll try to find a way to test those tonight.

Ooo, that's a good one too. I'm definitely going to level one up for when I use the Spat-o-Matic.
I'm still rather unsure what abilities to go for when choosing gear. I'm using splat-o-magic, and can defintely see the use of special charge up(got stealth jump shoes with 3x special charge up subs). But I'm not sure what to go for else, everyone seems to want ink saver(main), but I hardly fond myself running out of ink in tough situations. Damage up would be cool, but with diminishing returns I don't feel like taking up 3 subs. Perhaps 1x damage up(main) + 3x swim speed (sub) to cancel out the ninja squid nerf?

Get at least one bomb throw up main. One makes a huge difference, especially for your Bomb Rush. As long as you cover ink with your last few bombs, you'll be able to get enough points to charge it back up to 1/3rd or more.

Reposting ping/packet loss/jitter test for top of page:

(Test is located in UK and only tests between their server and your router. Issues between router and Wii U will not show up on the test.)

Tried doing a full power cycle for once. Previously I only turned the router off for like 3 or 4 seconds.

HOLY SHIT I had no idea web pages could load this quickly

3 bomb throw up mains and 2 subs throws bombs nearly as far as an E-Liter.

I'll wait until tomorrow before drawing any conclusions, but if the solution to my connection troubles really does turn out to be an actually proper power cycle then I will simultaneously laugh and cry.

So far so good though. Damn I had no idea our net could be this fast.

I think I'm going to drop the .52Gal Deco for the Splattershot Pro as my go to "heavy-ish" artillery gun. The extra range is well appreciated especially in a world full of jumping aerosprays.

Edit: Oh hell yes, I'm making the switch. Just had a test run with both my ninja build and regular build and both of them showed a fuck load of promise. It's looking like I'm settling on:

Main: Inkbrush/Sprinkler/Inkstrike
Sub: Splattershot Pro/Splat Bombs/Inkstrike

Ninja / Regular

Tentatek Fake Contacts (Special Charge Up Main/Ink Recovery Sub x2 & Ink Saver Main)
Splash Mob Shrimp Pink Polo (Ninja Squid/Ink Saver Main x2 & Swim Speed Up) / Takoroka Red Vector Tee (Ink Saver Main/Special Charge Up x2 & Quick Super Jump)
Krak-On Red Hi Tops (Ink Resistance/Swim Speed Up x2 & Defense Up)

Red vector tee lists as only having one slot?

pretty big if. Its pretty annoying when he doesnt understand hes sourspotting the aoes and blames lag for people not dying in the amount of hits hes expecting. Its impossible for lag to do that anyways due to how hits are client side.
I think it might be the lack of knowledge about burst bombs and blaster(at least from what I've watched, I don't know what else he has tried). He's not perfect but I think he's pretty good with the splattershot.

Btw, does the burst bombs have 3 hit box? I noticed it's similar to blaster, and it may take more than 3 bad hits to do 100%. It might be caused by me missing my target due to lag but it shows up as a hit on my screen.

Spyke can add more slots to your gears once you've hit level 20.

Yeah I had 1 sub of bomb throw up once and that was already pretty beneficial.

So a set of:

Splat-o-magic / Suction Bomb / Bomb Rush

Head: Bomb Throw Up / 3x Power Up
Clothes: Ninja Squid / 3x Swim Speed
Shoes: Stealth Kump / 3x Såecial Charge Up

Sounds like a good deal?

I've only noticed indirect hits and direct hits. I would test it right now, but I'm going to sleep in a bit. For me, it would take 4 indirect hits or 2 direct hits to splat.

how are you guys playing together? Is it strictly a friend list thing? Is there a GAF list somewhere?

Can't wait for matchmaking to hit August. Going to be a game changer in a positive way. Even without voice communication there are a few players in SplatGAF that know what needs to be done to work together to win turf war.

My job is to roll, try to help control specific parts of the map, back my teammates up by leading the charge with my roller and unleash the Kraken when necessary. And I do a good job at it.

I can't imagine the queue times will be good with fixed teams vs fixed teams. Not after the first week anyway.

This just has doubled my upload speed (0.87Mbps), for sure it's nothing marvelous, but man does it feel good. :)

e : Callie and Marie should give an advice like this in game, really.

Finally, I was able to test the game... It's as great as I heard, and I'm really not fond of console FPS (mostly because of controls).

I'm a bit lost in all the weapons, though, I though there was less options.

Is there a NeoGAF room, like on Mario Kart 8?

does anyone know how physical-digital works on WiiU? I have Splatoon on disc because I wasn't sure it'd click with me, but it feels more and more like something I should have digitally so I can dip in anytime and free the disc drive up for other games. But if I buy it on the eshop, will it pick up my current save progress?

are the amiibo useful to have? Never bought one but I'm curious if they bring anything of benefit to the game.

Yup.

I have been having some great matches over the last few days and I feel I am in the good category, rather than just average. However, last night I was terrible, almost 90% of 1 v 1's ending in me splatted and I was consistently finishing bottom of my team. I just couldn't work out why. I will probably jump on this evening and everything will be back to normal. Any of you guys get this?

yes. First time was when I didn't understand the scoring. I was trying different weapons out and was using some of the more offensive weapons and going for kills. Ended bottom.

Score seems to be entirely based on how much you paint. K/D is reported but doesn't seem to affect your position (I had an 8:0 in one game and finished bottom, and the guy at the top in my team had a 0:9). Kills are just good to put the opposition back to their spawn and give you more time to push them back/paint more ground.

Confirming it works as I got the EU Squid Special Edition for the Amiibo, then traded it in for the Digital one and save stayed.

They unlock challenges based on the singe-player campaigns where you have to use a certain weapon (e.g. The Inkling girl uses a charger). Completing these unlock gear and new mini-games to play between rounds - also you get a largish sum of money completing each the first time.

Wouldn't say they're useful, but I like the figures and the extra content is quite fun.
