lmao if Marvel still gets their pools on main stage and doesn't get a 10 am spot on sunday

prepare for a hearty chuckle my friend, the capcom bias is real

Don't group street fighter into this. It actually earns the coverage it gets.

I already know what it's going to be. "We put Xrd first because of the time difference in Japan. 2: 30 am in Japan is better for them to see. Even though we never prioritize international audiences for other games like Persona, Tekken, KOF or Street Fighter, this is believable, right?"

While the Melee success clearly overshadows it, I am somewhat amazed Marvel 3 will be at it's 5th EVO while having no support for 3 years and gets 800 entrants. Most games that have been at evo did not get as many. Even if this is the last evo, it had a good run

I can't believe Killer Instinct is so low entry-wise given it's prize pool and paying out top 32, madness.

Really?

The only surprise in that list is that Tekken 7 has so many entrants compared to what Tag 2 could scrounge up. Although maybe it's not that surprising when you account for people who just want a shot at playing it before release, period.

Interesting pools

We have Xian-Smug, without doubt the strongest encounter.

Then, depending if they've been training hard we have:

Xiao Hai vs Haitani
Itazan vs Pr Rog
Dieminion vs Latif
Valmaster vs Filipinoman
Kindevu vs Arturo

Wow, Capcom Pro Talk was so good, 100% entertainment. Who's the voice behind the camera? His tone is absolutely perfect.

With the push by MS with the pot bonus and still supporting the game with Season 2 etc I figured it would have gotten at least 450-500 or something. I guess a lot of the FGC either hasn't upgraded or did to PS4?

FGC is pretty ghetto. I doubt the majority can afford another console, let alone another arcade stick.

Looking at the numbers, I really feel that Xrd should be the 3rd game shown instead it being the first game up on Sunday.

Tekken 7 I think will also be a Sunday game.

Marvel on Saturday?
Edit: one of the people on the city planning commission in Azusa recused himself on the vote just so he could talk badly about Super Arcade. (He wss one of the five on video talking trash). WTF?

I remember a few months ago something about a new reporter taking their son to CEO for Smash 4, just curious what came from that if anything. I'm assuming local news.

These pools are going to be completely different in a week. Not worth analyzing now.

Only thing worth gathering from them the pool schedule (which maybe can be used to extrapolate when finals for games are).

wait i just realized
tekken 7 has a prize pool/pot that's not a pot bonus thing?
that many dudes are entering 10 bucks for a game they've never played before? dang!

It's being hinted that Tekken 7 will probably get a pot bonus for EVO also.

Kinda want to see the total individual number of entrants this year. Do they usually release those numbers?

Mr. Wizard says 7000 individual competitors

They get to practice on the first day too. I'd pay $10 right now just for that if it was in my country, to be honest.

Once everything is final, SRK/EVO will drop an article on the # of unique individuals, how many countries represented and the # of international competitors.

They still haven't talked panels or the specific games for indie showcase this year yet right?

Everyone should be a KI player... I mean look at the pay out to player ratio!
To be fair, 10x is a pretty sick overlay. :p

That and the pot bonus is being paid out over top 32, which is roughly 10% of the bracket. I always liked the idea of having a payout that deep, since now it means that a lot of players with some skill and a lot of bracket luck (or a lot of skill and some bracket luck) have a shot at making some money -- and it doesn't drastically hurt the winner's payout (1st is still $25k guaranteed).

Actually surprised GG beat Marvel which actually didn't drop off that much from last year as most people were expecting. Rest is about what was expected.
And now I'm sad I didn't take that bet with you regarding GG and UMvC3 entrants several months back. -_-

I also think T7 > TTT2 is a bit of a surprise, considering that T7 won't be available in the US until 20XX. Then again, I think there's an odd appeal to playing in a game that hasn't been even release yet -- the skill gaps will never be as narrow (unless you're unlucky enough to get matched up against a Korean or Japanese player).

I actually entered T7 myself, although I probably won't get to play in the tournament. :\

Tekken 7 fluffing those numbers.

I honestly think it's kind of low. If I was at EVO and a non-Tekken fan, I would have still entered just to try it out. But, I guess considering it hasn't released and Tekken 7 has no pot bonus or whatever, it's expected.

Not expecting anyone to have the numbers, but is there a ballpark on Tekken 6 entrants during its first EVO? Also yes EVO was smaller then...

Apparently over 600 and was the biggest game after SFIV in 2010 based on what's being said in TTT2 OT.

The way I'm looking at Tekken 7 numbers is that if a MvC4 or SFV had been announced as an EVO tournament before actual console release and some people had the first chance to play it, I can only imagine how many would have entered just to try the game out.

Tekken is just no longer as popular as it used to be, which really sucks because it's the only 3D fighter being represented anyway.
