UNCHARTED 4: A Thief’s End - E3 2015 - Sam Pursuit Gameplay [HQ now available]

Right, but while stuff like Indiana Jones puts him through a lot, what Nathan is put through in even just this demo would have killed or hospitalized him. I didn't buy it and despite Indy for example being put through rough situations, it's not even remotely close to his fucking ridiculous this was.

Have you not played ANY of the Uncharted games?

There are probably going to be yeti ghosts or something in this as well, just so you're prepared. :P

I don't have a problem with that. In fact I dig those elements. I'm talking about what is supposed to be a human being enduring what would have otherwise killed or seriously injured a normal person.

Yep. Those aren't really innocent either, as I specifically noted in my initial post.

Indiana Jones survived a nuke-launched fridge ride. Some car chase is baby stuff for Nate.

Everything is fine!

lol, so they changed the look of Elena for a second time?

All the characters look much better on PS4. Makes sense to update the characters especially with such a big jump in the engine. Would look odd if all the characters had PS3 look.

They actually fixed Elena finally by making her look more natural. In fact all the characters look more real in this game (which is for the better).

Only disappointing thing is the shitty quality of that video. I would expect Naughty Dog of all developers to give extremely high quality direct footage.

Looks like fun. Definitely the graphical benchmark of this generation so far. The entire demo does look a bit too linear for me though, like they're directing you.

They give you a shooting section, then they make you drive, now you're being dragged by the cable to pull yourself into the back of the truck to have a convoy chase shootout, then you wreck and have to shoot you're way out of a burning car, shoot off the back of your brothers bike, ect ect.

This mission looks like it'll play out essentially the same way every play through. But hey it's just a demo, maybe they'll open it up a little more in other missions.

Hopefully they can deliver a truly whole multiplayer experience too, because games like this that focus so much on the campaign don't hold my interest after I beat them

Yeah and that was kinda dumb. I'm talking about Nathan hanging onto a rope connected to a truck and being slammed against concrete and through instructions at a very high speed.

It was absolutely incredible. Nobody does set pieces better. It takes what we love about Uncharted and dials it up to 10. While the set piece is incredible, it essentially looks like it plays itself. We have very little input except controlling Drake's weapon. Like other Naughty Dog games, it doesn't look like it offers much in the way of challenge, but I don't really care. I don't play it for game play but to be entertained. Uncharted is the dumb action flick of gaming.

The only thing I absolutely hate is the fact that they are using dumb quick time events. Hopefully that is the only one in the game. For me, mashing on the triangle button to escape is not fun. At least the other one is used to break out of the truck which gives the player a choice when to break out.

I would be willing to bet that this takes place very early in the game, this may even be the tutorial.

Edit: Maybe not the tutorial, but definitely early.

Uh, Indiana Jones would have easily broken every bone in his body with some of the shit they've done in those films. This is supposed to be an over the top summer action blockbuster movie that you play.

It being over the top and unrealistic should make you excited, not go: oh, that's not real. He would be dead etc. I do get the idea of suspension of disbelief and also pushing it too far to the point that it becomes distracting or beyond excessive. But I never felt UCs genre was the kind that needed to keep things limited. And UC set pieces have always been omg wow rather than cluttered and distracting.

At least for me.

Why is 1080p capped with no audio?

I use http://www.clipconverter.cc/ no muted 1080p for me on there.

I think the scene in the demo are early in the game, it's not like you'll get spoiler that ruin the ending.
It's not. They said in the Q&A after that it is late in the game. They seemed really cagey about it, like they were trying hard not to be too specific, but yeah definitely not early.

Outside of the character interactions, this has never been a series that ever claimed 'realism'. Like, remember the pulpy twists in the first two games?

Not exactly, but definitely has similar features.
yeah, maybe not exact but I feel like they made her look much more like her than the previous trilogy.

but the reason I posted that was because in the other thread (and this is like the 3rd time I've said this, it is kinda concerning) is somebody said it isn't emily rose.

You don't hear it, but that's me smashing my head into the desk.

This isn't reality, it's an action universe that the characters of Uncharted live in.

Indy survived a nuclear explosion with a god damn fridge.

It's not real, it's not pretending to be real, it's creators have openly said it's a reality not based on our own. This type of nit-picking is like walking into Commando and going "WTF, there is no way all those henchman could miss!".

And this isn't even the case of the new Tomb Raider where it's picking and choosing the insane action universe with it's set pieces, and then turning into grimy realism with how people handle the cold and how weather is one of the top killers.

Everything is fine!

It's not realistic but they aren't being battered or physically abused by that. It's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about what he goes through physically in the demo, being slammed around like a toy. Unrealistic situations in these things are fine and normal and that's not what I mean.

Yeah and that was kinda dumb. I'm talking about Nathan hanging onto a rope connected to a truck and being slammed against concrete and through instructions at a very high speed.
The point is the type of genre film the games take inspiration from and embrace aren't using real-world rules, and being a video game only heightens that. Nate can take more of a beating than a real person would because he exists in a heightened and stylized version of the world. You can either accept that or not.

It isn't really a new thing to the series but it kind of takes me out of it when he should have died or at least suffered severe injuries like fifteen times. It's a game so I'm not going to make too much noise about it but it's not just unrealistic but like way beyond unrealistic. I'm all for crazy antics and over the top action but this can be done without flinging the protagonist around like a ragdoll and expect me to find it even remotely believable.

Otherwise awesome stuff, looks fun and is visually outstanding.

......... I forgot how realistic health potions, regenerative health and spells were!

You understand this is a story driven game, right? it's impossible to have a moment like this and not be linear, you'll have plenty of other time to do whatever you want (like the PSX demo) but when some big action moments happens, you have to go forward otherwise you'll want to play another game.

You must be real fun at parties.

Also holding L2 then tapping R2 is not fun. Also pressing the square button isnt fun and moving a stick is not fun.

I always disliked this type of criticism, trying to boil it down to its input. Of course pressing Triangle is not fun, but during the game in that scene it is frantic and gives some layer to the player for frantic interaction.

If we start arguing about which buttons are more fun to push than others, then this is a REALLY fucking weird medium.
