UNCHARTED 4: A Thief’s End - E3 2015 - Sam Pursuit Gameplay [HQ now available]

I know, I'm a fan of that stuff but I don't buy what he physically endures here. Didn't mean to make a big deal out of it, it's just a game and I'm excited but there's no way in hell he walked away from that like he did let alone still being able to participate in the rest of the action.

Shouldn't have said anything I guess. I fully understand and embrace what this is but I think it's too much.

More of a nitpick/observation. Watching it I'm just like... no... but it still looks damn awesome. No one really needs to defend this to me as I'm there day one.

I don't have an issue with someone arguing that action sequences should be crafted in a way that is somewhat believable. Even in fiction, people can suspend disbelief and feel unrealistic action sequences are intense -- because the sequence stays within a realm of possibility that we can accept within fiction.

I guess I just don't agree that the genre UC is, that it needs action sequences like that. It's just weird to think someone would watch that, and say they are taken out of the scene because of how over the top it is. Well yeah. That's like what UC is. These big set pieces should be wow and exciting, not: oh but he would really be dead there.

When did I say I didn't like them? I acknowledged a few times that it isn't anything new to the series and I love the games. It does take me out of it a little but it's not like I'm flinging shit at the whole shebang.

Didn't say you didn't like them. Was just asking. Since prior games were heavy with action sequences where Nate should be dead. Was just wondering if you had an issue with this kind of action sequence, how the rest of the series made you feel. I don't think your perspective was invalid.

Forgive me for a dumb question - I have only played a tiny bit of an earlier Uncharted (3, I think)... but on watching that video it seemed like there was quite a lot of cut scene/scripted sequences compared to actual "hands-on gameplay"... is that normal for these games?

This game looks so awesome I'm going to buy a PS4 when it comes out (if I haven't before then) but honestly don't know that much about the series.

This is a set-piece demo.

Here's the Playstation Experience 2014 demo, which shows the sandbox gameplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ow2cL-pp6p8

This is a "setpiece" bit.

One, the only cutscene was the very end in the hotel. Everything else is in-game with varying levels of gameplay. But yes, Uncharted has plenty of these moments where something absolutely bombastic is happening, with varying levels of how much you interact.

Two, see the PSX footage for uninterrupted, full gameplay of the actual shooting/emergent combat:

Most of those "scripted" scenes are still you playing them though. But yes, it is very much Uncharted.

Uncharted Collection is a must now, I only played 1/3 so I plan to bosh them all out before 4 hits.

They floated down relatively slowly in a raft and landed safely in water. It's not very realistic but again it's not the same thing, not even close.

The interesting thing about Uncharted is that the developers have to actively work against normal logic. I think Straley and Druckman were in an interview talking about how the team acknowledged when something wasn't logical, and Straley would have to remind them that they weren't making TLOU, and that it had to be over the top.

best part of the whole experience at E3 was that I had no idea it was going to be an extended gameplay session. Thought it was going to end the same way it did at the confe.. NOPE

Cheers - looks good. Is it 'bad form' to say it reminds me of a certain recent reboot with e female protagonist? (or that the reboot reminds me of UC - not sure who got there first...!). That's fine with me though... all the more interest in the game.

There's a reason why so many people were reminded of Uncharted when playing Tomb Raider.

It's clearly inspired by Uncharted, with a sprinkle of finding items in larger maps and some light metroidvania elements.

TR 2013 was inspired heavily by the Uncharted series (started in 2007).

Hard to believe that this isn't even the most epic scene in the game, Knowing Naughty Dogs I expect them to blow our minds even more later on.

I wouldn't be surprised if the game came out and it was 30 minutes long.

HOW CAN YOU NOT SPEND YOUR ENTIRE BUDGET ON THAT SCENE?!

I'm not begging for realism but again you can construct crazy action without doing this. You can put the hero through a lot and it still seem sensible. Take the tank sequence in Last Crusade. It has overboard aspects, but not once did I actually question what Indy goes through. The whole sequence of Nathan hanging onto the truck rope as it's passing over the bridge and he's literally being smashed into concrete and plenty other things at speeds of like 60 miles per hour didn't work for me.

But whatever, not a huge deal, it's just what stood out to me while watching. Everything else was great.

Is there a Gamersyde version incoming or i should just give up and watch it on Youtube?

Gamersyde relies on Sony french PR to get access to HQ videos. The PR dude is in Bordeaux attending IDEF right now so he might not be able to do anything for a few days.

Uncharted takes a lot of inspiration from Indiana Jones, which took inspiration from those cheesy (and very unrealistic) pulp action serials from the 1930's.

If you've ever got 30 minutes to kill, you should watch their game informer interview.

The animations on character faces during conversation is astonishing.

Was even yelling at the TV telling Nate to move his ass a few times. lol

Stunning. Elena da GOAT.

Should we expect to see Chloe in this game? Especially after the events of U3?

I'm hoping Chloe and Cutter both show up because they're plenty of fun. The franchise has done a good job of adding one really enjoyable new supporting character per sequel.

Will the Q&A be uploaded as well?

They're having a booth, but no press conference. I don't know if Uncharted would be playable there though.

That's not what I wanted to find out. It's just I cannot resist visiting the U4 area (will be rated 16+, thus have a closed booth) if there is one. So Aug. 5th is the date I'm seeing this for the very first time (given they have it at their booth).

I miss Greg Edmonson but Henry Jackman's score sounds good. Greg was just so experimental with oriental instrumentation that gave his work such a unique taste. Hopefully Jackman does more than your typical stuff but it's still sounding nice.

This set piece just looks amazing , everything comes together from gfx , animation ,physic etc .
They also using so much assets just for it , really impressive stuff .
