UNCHARTED 4: A Thief’s End - E3 2015 - Sam Pursuit Gameplay [HQ now available]

Holy shit! That's fucking impressive.

Wow. That looks incredible.

Also, like that they played the first half of the demo differently, gives me hope the driving sections than will be better than in most third person action games and you won't be penalised for veering off the path a tiny bit.

But like, seriously that new footage is just unbelievable

Ok, this was bloody awesome! ND and SSM really are kings at staging breathtaking set-pieces. Fuckin' A!

Now, I seriously hope Troy doesn't turn out to be the bad guy. That would be a lame trope and they need to stay the hell away from it.

2016 is going to be insane.

Is he a US citizen? Isn't he Columbian, or something?

Uncharted 3 gives his backstory:
made a ward of the state after his mother committed suicide. Father gave him up - I'd bet this comes back in a big way in Uncharted 4. Anyway it wasn't until after he ditched the orphanage that he made his way to Columbia.

He's probably American, and the dude likely owes some serious back taxes.

Amy Hennig already confirmed that he's half Colombian half unknown.

Fair enough. I'd play an Uncharted 5 if Drake is on the run from the IRS.

Right, it wouldn't have to be "You killed 1200 people, Drake" but an extension of what was started with Lazarević in Uncharted 2
"How many of my people have you killed, huh? Just today?"
could be interesting to explore.

Something like "You aren't entitled to this treasure any more that me. You try to kill us. We try to kill you. You aren't the 'good guy'".
yeah. I think that coming from elena and the villain would be both fine. any sort of nod expanding upon what lazarevic said before he croaked.

His ethnicity is Colombian, but he could still be a US citizen.

EDIT: Colombian isn't an ethnicity, but he's originally from there.
he was born in colombia?

I thought marlowe called him an orphan, I interpreted that as both of his parents being dead. but it'd be interesting if his father is still there and shows up in Uc4 in some capacity.

I didn't see the whole thing but just looking these gifs....ND is just at another level in the gaming industry. No one comes close to what they can achieve on a closed system. Mind blowing stuff.

And this game has plenty of time to be polished...just think about that for a moment O.O

The writing though...

"stop shooting!"

"I hate this truck!"

That's not all writing. In an interview Nolan North said that they would show him (and all actors) game sequences and he should just start talking and make all these grunt noises and then they pick the best parts as audiocues for the game.

Looks stunning but the extremely scripted nature of the game means I'm just as happy watching as I would be playing.

As a fan of the series, I was hoping to see the series evolve into something greater as time went on. Maybe get some decent puzzles and boss battles for once but it seems Naughty Dog have decided to double down on set pieces.

I'm still very much looking forward to it but it's all a bit "style over substance" for me at the moment. Wiggle the analog stick to slightly move Nathan around during scripted scenes isn't winning me over in 2015.

Exactly.

"It isn't your treasure."

"But you sent people after me."

"But dude, it isn't your treasure."

I think Drake's ownership over a lot of the treasure he seeks is in his supposed ancestry, so that element of his internal justification could be interesting to analyse.

This still doesn't make sense - the treasure doesn't belong to neither villain nor Drake, how does this excuse sending mercenaries to kill him? The treasure belongs to whoever finds it first, and the villain knows Drake's probably getting to it first if left unchecked.

Furthermore, "Drake" himself faked his ancestry, so that can't possibly make any difference. There's no need for any other internal justification either.

And you know that from ONE set piece of an Uncharted game that's the biggest of the series. Your wording also gives you away I'm afraid.

I know all the uncharted games are stanalone stories, but I hope they bring back salem. there's not a lot of cool middle eastern characters in gaming, let alone entertainment out there.

Every single scene of this game will amaze me.

PS4 didn't need it, but THIS will be a big reason why it will next gen in coming years.

Might as well watch in a decent video format as a whole thing before it leaks into cut gifs.

Very impressive followup. I like the former part with the driving as it gives more freedom but the set pieces was incredible.

One thing I kind of wish they improve on is that when they're doing the quips, I would like to see their mouths move even just a little as if they're actually talking as it does seem a little off when panning towards their faces.

The scene with drake realizing he's still holding the gun and the part where he walks in and sees Elena with the change of expression is great.

The video looks incredible. I'm hoping this time we get some clever puzzles and a little less automated platforming. I'll be getting it regardless because I've liked all the other Uncharted games.

Man just watched the 2nd half again, and holy shit parts of the demo look like straight up CGI

This is probably the most impressive gameplay demo I've ever seen

Because the PSX demo from last year didn't happened, right?

People see one demo that is set piece focused and forget about everything that was show before....

While the graphics are some of the most impressive I've ever seen, I'm more impressive at the framerate. Not even during the heaviest moments you see it dropping.

If you were a fan of the series you'd realise the PSX gameplay is more indicative of what makes up 80%+ of the game.

You got that with the PSX video though. Pure gameplay, the levels was basically like a puzzle where you maneuver around various platforms, vegetations etc to flank, hide against enemies while finding a way to reach the end goal. This video is like the first set piece and there's only been two gameplay footages so far.

The writing though...

"stop shooting!"

"I hate this truck!"

That's most likely not writing. That's actors in a booth, watching a video, and riffing new comments on the fly. They did that in every Uncharted game, and those comments are so well placed because in the heat of the moment, players are thinking the same thing. :D
