UNCHARTED 4: A Thief’s End - E3 2015 - Sam Pursuit Gameplay [HQ now available]

im surprised no one has brought up that nate just killed tons of guys and then him and brother just laugh it off. Not that i give a fuck, because i want to play that right now.

The guys that were trying to kill him right?

I'm tired of this whole Nate is a murderer narrative, it's just so ridiculous to expect any sense of realism or acknowledgement from a game with stupendous gameplay and story. Get over it.

At this point it has to be trolling.

Typical GAF. If someone doesn't like what I like, they must be trolling.

I honestly don't remember anything noteworthy from the PSX demo. Nathan climbed some stuff and shot some dudes as per usual.

Uncharted 4 is just a rehash of set pieces and there will be no other gameplay than pressing forward and being on rails to aim!

Also, it's unrealistic how many times he can get shot and be okay. It should be like real life: One shot and he's incapacitated and crying (possibly peeing his pants and begging for his life), two shots goes unconscious and you can't move him, three shots and he's dead.

Hmmm.

That's not what he's saying. He's saying that the shit that's being complained about not being in the game has been displayed as being in the game.

Has somebody already made a GIF of the moment when Nathan enters the room in the end and s sees her?

That "oh shit"-face is great!

Meanwhile if we got a thread saying that GTA is too violent, everyone would rush to GTA's defense. :P

Typical GAF. Someone makes a baseless comment and other people try to correct him. Some with facts, others with snark

Huh? He was just correcting you. What you are talking about has been demonstrated back in December. (Not the puzzles, boss fight stuff, but the options in gameplay dynamic).

Looks stunning but the extremely scripted nature of the game means I'm just as happy watching as I would be playing.

As a fan of the series, I was hoping to see the series evolve into something greater as time went on. Maybe get some decent puzzles and boss battles for once but it seems Naughty Dog have decided to double down on set pieces.

I'm still very much looking forward to it but it's all a bit "style over substance" for me at the moment. Wiggle the analog stick to slightly move Nathan around during scripted scenes isn't winning me over in 2015.

I was actually thinking that one way the actual gameplay could evolve is by introducing branching paths during set pieces that result in different experiences. For instance, both Drake and Sam ends up at the dock but there could be two different ways to get there.

Wow what do you know. Here I thought he would be doing something else in a TPS. Very insightful.

Well, that was absolutely incredible. Shit's gone well beyond Indiana Jones at this point. It's like Indiana on steroids. The animations, the pacing, the switch up in set pieces, amazing. Only two things I think could improve it a little.

1. Add some more camera shake or velocity when driving, in order to up the sense of speed and danger. Eg Driveclub chase cam style.
2. Lower the number of shots it takes to kill the guys on the bike, or add some more hit detection animation feedback.

I can reduce every single game to two sentences the same way you just did.

This has got to be the most impressive back-to-back set piece in gaming. I hope it's not the game's highlight though, that would be disappointing.

Saying "Holy Shit" near the end was the perfect cap.

I laughed hard when he jumps on the back of the truck after being dragged, and says "ha ha". Also when the guy jumps on the hood of the jeep, and says "ENOUGH OF THIS!" and gets smashed through a broken shed. Afterwards Drake calls him an asshole (which made me bust out laughing), and even turns his head and torso around while driving to get a look at the dude.

Man this game is going to be crazy.

You're right. Trolling never happens. /eyeroll

If all you got out of the PSX demo was "Nate climbed stuff, killed some guys," then there's nothing worth discussing here.

I think that would be way too expensive and time consuming to do with a game that has the insane and technically exhaustive set pieces that Uncharted games tend to. I can imagine this one area or segment took months and months to develop, with an inordinate amount of effort and optimisations as is, which is why basically no other (linear or open) game matches it right now.

If you compare the set pieces in games like The Order 1886, Ryse, Rise of the Tomb Raider etc, with the stuff we're seeing here, Naughty Dog is already in an entirely different league.

Without a chart or graph,it's hard to believe this.

Yep people being crazy .

Each demo show a different part of what makes up UC4 .
This demo shows a crazy physics ,destruction and a set piece.
The PSX show sand box gameplay with some of the new things they doing in UC4.

Even the first half of the demo showcases a new mechanic, that is driving vehicles, which never existed in the previous games. We had on the rails shooting guns from vehicles, or manning turret type segments, but never any actual free control driving.

as someone once said, it is funny because tomb raider inspired uncharted, and then uncharted inspired tomb raider
The first Uncharted plays nothing like previous Tomb Raider games. It seems like it was Naughty Dog's take on Indiana Jones.

The only thing Uncharted shared with Tomb Raider at that point was the protagonists job description.

Zelda is about a little boy in green running around a field and going into dungeons. You can literally do that with practically any game out there.

Best wishes.

We had a horse, which is somewhat the same.

Finally got home to watch this with sound...Holy shit, saying Elena was disappointed is the understatement of the century. She sounded down right heartbroken.

Nate, you dick.

Yeah the insane amount of effort put into just one of these "paths" did come across my mind, but I do think such a change would be an evolutionary step to take with a series well known for linear set-pieces (open world gameplay not being an option). And it doesn't even have to be entire gameplay segments, for instance maybe the latter half of this particular setpiece could've been over water with a motorboat (while Sam is being pursued on a seashore highway).

Not saying they're not doing anything new here. But if there's ever a need for them to take their gameplay even further, I think this could be it and knowing ND, they'll do a pretty damn good job at it.

Well, the first Uncharted had something similar with the jet ski section.

Yep which now carry over to the set piece like we see here .
Then there also that the first part of the set piece which has different routes .
Don't think we ever had that before in a set piece.

Both vids really show how much UC has move forward .

I always found it funny that people say Uncharted aped Tomb Raider. Thematically, yes to a certain extent. It takes just as many inspirations from Indiana Jones as well. Gameplay wise? They never played anything alike until Tomb Raider rebooted to become like Uncharted.

Uncharted played like Gears of War mixed in with some lite platforming and puzzles sprinkled around. Tomb Raider was all about precision platforming, had no cover system with lite shooting and was more about puzzle solving.

Gaming is all about taking ideas from others and refining them, but Tomb Raider was just at another level of taking inspiration from elsewhere. Not a second went by while playing that game where I wasn't thinking how its a more open Uncharted.

Best wishes.

correct me if i'm wrong but the game itself was codenamed dude raider during development.
