UNCHARTED 4: A Thief’s End - E3 2015 - Sam Pursuit Gameplay [HQ now available]

I'm starting to think they shouldn't have shown this to anybody. No doubt it's one of the top showstopping sequences in the game. If they top this I'll be seriously impressed. It's like showing the convoy chase in UC2 in a trailer or something (although ND did show UC3's chase in its launch trailer, dur.)

To me, this seemed like a small one. This is like the running down the alleyway in Uncharted 2. The ending level was like x10 more spectacular!!

To be fair…

How long have they been working on this game and how many people do they have? It almost seems inconceivable what they have managed to do. They will probably have to sell a shit ton to cover what they spent on it.

Well, it probably will sell a shit ton for a start...

I think at this stage Sony have enough trust in Naughty Dog that they can give them a huge budget and are pretty much guaranteed to get a system seller in return... Obviously the game still need to turn a profit , but its probably worth making less of a profit on the game itself, if youre gonna be selling consoles because of it.

We've come so far.

I mean, it seriously blows my fucking mind what games are like these days. I remember playing Pitfall back in the 80's as a little boy, and thinking it was the most amazing thing, and that games wouldn't get any better. Despite all of the nitpicking about resolution, framerate, etc, etc, I still remember what games used to be like, and what they are now continuously blows my mind. Developers like Naughty Dog are some of the few devs out there that goes the extra mile when it comes to game design and technical prowess, yet they're often talked about like they're some third string Activision developer.

In the genre of third person shooters, I can honestly only think of two that stand strong: Uncharted, and Gears of War. I've yet to play any other TPS that has the same level of smooth controls, visceral gunplay, and action like those two, and I'm not even a Gears fan.

Dude, Indiana, Die Hard, that's 80ies stuff man. Now here is what's going on in a 2015's action movie:

Compared to that the pursuit on the trailer seems totally reasonable. :)

Well, I never said it wasn't. I was just saying the level of snark going to that other poster was unreasonable.

Also, the 80's were the golden age of action movies. Modern movies not named Fury Road struggle to hit those highs.

It is the last Uncharted with Nathan Drake in it.

Nah, no way.

Ppl asking about length the twitter q&a covered this (why is that up yet so much info would be cleared if that was up )

They dodged the question on game length saying it's hard to say till the game is completed but they feel this is the longest "uncharted" they have made

Also budget posts nd actually makes games for pretty cheap ppl have posted how uc games have been in the 15-20 mill dev cost range maybe it's changed with uc4 but in general nd doesn't blow up money ... Think it's cause they make lots of flexible and reusable assets and systems (eg same horse in uc3/tlou .. Someone pointing out the fire system in the demo is the one from uc3 chateau but cranked up etc)

The Multiplayer beta is exclusive to Uncharted collection? Booooooooooooo!

Weren't the previous betas open to everyone? And isn't that a better way to stress test the game?

The collection will sell a ton of copies, so I think there'll be more than enough players to test the servers. But yeah, 2 and 3 were both open IIRC.

I think u2 and u3 had codes in infamous 1 and 2. You could also get access to u3 beta through a subway deal.
Each time they were open at the end for the stress test.
IIRC.

Yup this is correct.
Though uc3 had a summer beta before the subway one no idea if it was free or not.

That was incredible!! It looks like so much fun, and visually it looked so impressive. There were so many little details in the world, and that fire was amazing. 2016 can not come soon enough.

I doubt it. Expecting a 10ish hour game as per usual for Uncharted and that's fine with me.

I think it'll probably depend on how you play it. They've said exploration will play a bigger part in this game than any previous Uncharted since the locations are much more open this time. They showed journalists multiple routes that were very different through the PSX demo.

ya'll rush through these games. I'm always at the upper end of the play times and I don't even stop to look at everything, lol. I'm not inexperienced at TPS's either...

that photo mode though...

someone like Amir0x will probably have 25 hr play times lol

This looks amazing. Naughty Dog is still the main reason I own a PS4 and it looks like they won't disappoint as usual. American craftsmanship at its finest. :)

Well they targeted 60fps for unveil [waking up on beach], and now they are now moving to 30. They can do a lot more with 30.

can you make one with sully carrying a pizza like that im back to the party gif and everything has gone to shit? (and nate saying something like "hey guys we are ba-... oh shit or something clever)

I wouldn't like UC4 to be as long as TLOU and realistically don't think it will be, it must take a lot more time to construct the set pieces in this game compared to what we saw in TLOU. The SP looks fantastic, we are getting the big set pieces and much improved gameplay, at this point it's time that we got a look at the MP. It's a part of their games which have felt tacked on to me, hope they go all out with this game. With the improved gameplay as well looking at UC4, the MP component could be something special to say the least.

really? how in anyway has their multiplayer felt tacked on? especially for UC3 with all of its game modes, perk systems, movesets, and sort of innovative additions like the buddy system & and uncharted TV...

I'm not an avid Uncharted fan, but the motion capture, the facial animation, the body language, the voice acting are all so on point. Genuinely feels like actual people than game characters.

Wow I've never played an Uncharted game but this is basically the Indiana Jones-style action movie in game form. Can't wait until the UCC to finally experience it all. I love the contextual actions they have going with the combat and the environment. Kind of seemed like the free flow combat in Arkham but with gunplay and more actions around the environment. Like when he jumps off the ledge to punch someone or in the PSX footage with the jungle environment. This footage really blows the Tomb Raider footage out of the water in terms of visuals and gameplay. Naughty Dog is operating on a whole other level right now.

I'll warn you that U1 has aged horribly. I don't know if it is best to skip it altogether, but keep that mind and temper your expectations for the first one.

I think TLOU ended up being longer cuz its core mechanics were about exploration, stealth, walking and talking kind of thing, so it ended up being 15+ hours long on some RE4/HL2 type shit. UC1/3 averaged out to 9 with UC2 at 11, I'm sure UC4 probably be in the middle of those.

Yup. Part of the reason it took longer to finish was that you literally move more slowly through the game. Every room/area has multiple searchable objects that you may actually need, compared to Uncharted's occasional relic around an unused corner. The lethality of the encounters means you don't just run up to cover and start blasting everyone, so the same number of enemies will take significantly longer to deal with than in an UC game.

As others have said, I'd prefer a shorter, more replayable run-time, on par with previous UC games. Unless they can actually make an incredibly paced 15 hour game that never drags. I'd take that, too.

I think this UC will also have more replay value than all the others.

watching that ending again. goddamn no one nails emotional expression like naughty dog
I love Elena.
Nate should bring her along on his adventures. He should know by now that she'll eventually find out what's going on.

I bet they pull an Ellie, and we end up playing as either Elena or Sully at some point in the game.

Curiously, the people concerned about Elena's role are playing the exact role they are worried about Elena having pretty damn well, eh? :p

You know what everybody hasn't talked about yet that is actually worrying?

Where the hell is Nate's theme? Don't tell me they changed it.
