OS are fine when they don't break anything and can be punished. The problem with OS like step guard in SC2 is that they disrupt the intended dynamic of the game without having an equally good answer.

I don't even mean OS entirely, it's just the common example. People passed up roll cancelling at some point. I remember people passing up TAC infinites until they were required lol.

It could extend to those as well. Just general game exploits. I never like them, but will try and identify and at least learn them if they provide enough of an advantage to my play. Some just say no to learning them entirely because they think they're joining in with 'ruining' of the integrity of the game and by extension promoting its usage to others.

Played some SF5 today. Won a match and then moved to a winner stays setup. Won like 4 more and then Capcom staff told me winner doesn't stay :(

Game feels great though. Way more like older SF games instead of SF4. Fits me a lot more. Liking Ryu a lot because of V Trigger.

Forgot to check if supers were SF3 shortcuts or SF4 though.

i still pass up tac infinites unless i'm really in a pinch in-tournament because holy fuck they are so boring
i am not subjecting myself and others to the nova infinite every single match i play, that's fucking torture and i am here to enjoy myself

anti-competitive idiot right here

Sure but that's the game, if you want to win accept it or keep struggling as another low tier hero.

My first fighter ever might be Karate Champ. Played Street Fighter 1 once in a roller skating rink or something, if Karate Champ doesn't count. Only really got into them when Street Fighter 2 hit the arcades.

get some go again
Don't worry, I'm there with you and the Karate Champ. Us old people gotta stick together. ;_;
i remember playing it once and not knowing what the hell to do. that was probably the last time i played it. i don't think i ever really cared about watching other people play it either.

It's still kind of fun to this day if primitive.

On that note, Why hasn't this clip been circulated in FGC situations recently? Is it too old for folks? Best movie ever and this clip only adds to it, lol

I remember coming back from work after my first divorce and stopping at the arcade to play the simpsons arcade game only to find a line and some people mashing buttons in street fighter 2. Of course I had to know all about it so I bought an EGM magazine to find out more about the game and the characters.

Is that OG enough?

(of course that wasn't my first fighting game, that was international karate for the atari)

First, sorry to hear about your divorce, second, damn, that's OG

Karate Champ, SF1 were the first fighting games to play.

I didn't really own a console due to the fact I rather go to an arcade and play video games. Did anyone get into War Gods? Tried playing it at Super Arcade.

I was lucky enough to live near 4 arcades (they all closed around 1998 +/-), the best years of my gaming life. Mortal Kombat 1, Street Fighter 2, World Heroes Jet, Super Sidekicks, Three Wonders, X-Men vs Street Fighter, MVC1, Fighting Vipers...

Oh and i'll never forget the day when our main arcade removed Killer Instinct for Killer Instinct 2, the hype was REAL for at least 30 minutes... and then we were all like wtf why !???

Has anyone actually seen a Fighting Vipers 2 cab? I've never once even seen one on eBay. I know Zerochan has one.

I was joking! I was only 14 when sf2 hit the arcades(and I happened to be an exchange student at the states that year), I was already a gamer by the time and like I said before my first fighting game was International Karate on the Atari 800XL ON A CASSETTE(disk drives where very expensive). Yeah, game took like 20 minutes to load and you could hear modem like sounds while it loaded. Is that OG enough?

Atari 800XL brofist!

I later got a C64 but my Atari was my true love.

Smash 64 was my first and my mom didn't like how violent it was for me at my age (I was like 6 or 7) lol

My mom was the same way when I found out about infinitely locking people against stage geometry with Link's rapid jabs or a fire flower. I always wondered how other things were so "cartoonish" and made her laugh (paper fan's sfx always made her laugh) but the moment we used Fire Flowers against each other, I'd hear the enthusiasm give way to "stern old fashioned west indian parent giving us an earful over how inappropriate something was".

I used to play SF2 in the arcade when it first appeared. But not really playing it because I had no money. Instead I'd wait for attract mode and try to pretend I was controlling it and winning.

That is how we learned fighting games back in the day.

Marvel stole that second final spot like Kagami stole this fucking alley oop...

Marvel second to last again? It will have the highest viewer count as usual. I think it will probably stay penultimate every year because Mr. Wizard loves it so much and it's traditional at this point.
