Attitudes towards sexualization of females in games. Things have hella changed in a pretty short period of time. I wonder how much more will change within SF5's popular lifespan?

But anyway, they can get away with changing Mika's design to be less sexual because she's not a very well-known character. They can't really get away with that with Cammy because she's a popular character and it's a pretty well-known part of her design, and that's OK, because while you're always gonna have people who think that the mere existence of sexualization is some evil thing and jack themselves off at how much more progressive and morally superior they are to others, popular opinion seems to be that sexualization is OK as long as there are also females that don't have tits and ass hanging out all over the place.

Capcom's gonna get blown up if all the females in this game are sexually objectified. Might not be a super-huge blowup, but there will be many a Kotaku article all the same.

Should we just change the permanent subtitle of FGW to "_______ Among Us"? It would save everybody time instead of doing a vote as every thread title suggestion seems to be that anyway.

i feel the opposite, kind of.

I play characters because they look/ have a cool story. Having appealing characters is the most important thing in a fightng game IMO. You can have the coolest play style in world, if you look poo, you look like poo. Its how i feel about skull girls, " man this game plays great, too bad I only like looking at 3 of these characters "
 
Tina in doa, another female wrestler, has a butt bounce. Yuri has a butt bounce.

Seems like a pretty common move in fighters, honestly. I can't think of more specific examples, but I'm sure there are more.
 
If R. Mika comes back with her default wrestler outfit, I hope they offer an civvies alt, even if I had to pay for it. I do the same for most of the characters. Ibuki always rocks alt 2, the t-shirt and jeans look.

This is true but pretty much only applies to western devs. Look at DoA Last Round, FF15 with Cid, Bayo 2, #FE, etc etc. The japanese devs really dont give a shit lol. Maybe with Sony funding they might try to influence some design decisions but i really doubt it.

I imagine this game will fully embrace the costume DLC. I would be amazed if we don't see more DLC costumes and in shorter time than SF4.
And I am ok with that.

Has a Kotaku article ever hurt a game for this reason. The only article that comes to mind is Dragon Crown and that didn't work out well.

Would that apply to Street Fighter? Once people get over the jiggle physics bug, nobody is really going to give two shits about Cammy and Chun-Li from that perspective. They've been as "sexy" as they've always been. IF Karin gets in shes isn't what I'd consider a "sexy" character. IF Juri gets in sure she'll be "sexy". Who else is there to "worry" about? Just the new characters (which we can't really discuss now since we know nothing about them).

Give her jeans and tee shirt. I really don't care. Keep Junko Takeuchi cause nothing is hotter than a female character with a voice of a male character voiced by a female.

Just not another shoto character or blanka.

Those blow-ups won't hurt them saleswise at all. The market power and influence of the tumblr crowd is pretty damn low outside of forums. They're pretty easy to ignore.
 
I hope ryu isn't the only shoto in this game

he's the least interesting shoto, my man is fight man. Who fights to find the reason why he's fightman in these fighting streets for fight folk.

I'm happy for you and you're entitled to that opinion. Most people don't care about it. You can argue its due to nostalgia or inertia but the people have accepted the Cammy booty. They probably won't be ok with like a game of "Mono-Cammys" but Cammy herself is not going to rustle most peoples jimmies.

Cassandra has 44B+K in SC4, and that move was really annoying as it could hit either mid or low (depending on when it hit in the animation) and had a really stupid hitbox -- you would try to sidestep dat ass and randomly get clipped.

How about Jeffry's 666K+G or his hard pounce attack? :V

You gave your opinion he gave his opinion. Disliking Cammy's costume is most likely a minority opinion which is what he said, not that it was yours alone.

True, but they don't really have anything to lose by not filling the game with mostly-naked women and Cammy by herself fits the sex object role pretty well. But someone earlier said that Japan don't give a fuck like Western devs do, which is pretty true, so SF5 will probably have Cammy, Mika, Elena, and that Brazillian chick will have a giant Brazilian ass and a twerking super.

His opinion was trying to make my opinion be less so by suggesting i was alone and no one felt similarly. In a situation where i made no attempt to suggest anyone felt singularly but just was stating how i felt about a thing.

I'm just trying to figure out why that was necessary at all, if you have a reason please go ahead.

They can cover Juri head to toe as long as she makes it in. I'd appreciate them keeping the hair and not giving her a mask/helmet though.

Ok. Why did you tell me that? You hating Cammy doesn't change the majority opinion (the point of that reply). Did you REALLY think I LITERALLY meant NOBODY (as in no humans on Earth) don't like Cammy et al? If not, why did you interject? Do you think I didn't know how you feel? Do you think I care? The answer to both those question is that I already do (I've read the thread) and I don't particularly care (I don't mean this as a slight). If you think I have misinterpreted the majority opinion say so and make an argument for it. Otherwise..........*shrug*
