Completely misread that somehow. Most 4k Tv's (including the 8550) are smart TV's that use HVEC.265 for streaming 4k through Netflix, Amazon Instant Video etc. Outside of that and PC you're right that 4k is largely irrelevant. If you are looking to use this as a monitor keep in mind it isn't capable of doing 4k@60hz with 4:4:4 chroma subsampling. So there will be quite alot of color degredation at 4k.

As far as TV's go for picture quality I've heard good things on the AVS forums. It's edge lit though so make sure you watch for any light bleed after purchasing. The input lag is pretty bad for gaming (if you care), so keep that in mind, at around 63-70ms in gaming mode.

Edit - yeah, definitely do some research on that model, but Sandisk in general is a great place to start. Lot of happy Clip+/Zip users.

most of those video games on sale are on sale from Gamefly for less then 20 bucks used but they are in such immaculate quality and shape you can't even tell and they usually come with the DLC not even used.
