There's a shot in the trailer of three military helicopters flying over the city at night and there appears to be lasers being fired at them or are the helicopters firing tracer rounds hence the the laser effect?

Or is it neither of these things?

Wow. That was kind of fire.

Wait, I thought it was alley.

:P

I keeeed.

Man, must be really dark times for Affleck. Good luck to him.

Damn, I can't believe this has 23 million views already. Can anyone explain how it got so much hype? I'm still skeptical of this movie, but I'm in for Harley. Margot looks incredible and looks like she will steal the show.

Not sure what to think of Will Smith. His lines sounded cheese and it didn't even look like he was acting like Deadshot but like some superhero Will Smith is. I love the guy, but his scenes were the biggest negatives. His lines were cheese and were delivered in a way that the guy wasn't showing any range (and he can). I hope they don't try to humanize these people too much, at the end of the day they're still bad guys. These were my only concerns after watching the trailer, but it might be a trailer style to pull people in rather than what happens in the movie. I'm considering skipping the rest of the trailers for this movie, because that certainly is happening with BvS after the recent one has released.

But yeah.. watching this mostly for Margot. She looks awesome in it and is stunning. Talent and beauty <3 Though I can already imagine people getting outraged at what Joker will do to her, most of which won't even see the movie. I keep hearing that this will be PG-13 which sounds pretty damn disappointing.

27 million bro.

I think people want to see that Harley and Joker and it's from DC.

Add the interest in Leto's take on Joker especially after the strong reception to Ledger's and you basically answered your own question.

I honestly don't know... this just seems like one of those trailers that have captured people's imagination.

Like The Joker and Harley can be big enough draws, but it's kind of outpacing Batman v Superman in a similar time fashion... and don't think those characters are that big.

It's fascinating to watch for sure, the only problem... and more for Warner is this movie is still a LONG way's out

It's a new property (to the masses) featuring totally unknown characters played by some big names and a concept that stands out from most movies in the genre.

Joker and Harley are big draws no doubt, but I think that's what really driving the hype.

Also the fact that among superhero movies, this is a novel premise that has never been done before. Dirty Dozen in the DC Universe from the perspective of villains and criminals

Oh I get that, and even some novelty to it, but this is still giant numbers.

Especially for something that was leaked 2 days ahead of its official release.

Trying to find comparisons, but a lot of Marvel trailers are split up among a variety of channels on YT.

It doesn't come close to BvS teaser.

I sincerely think the fact that Leto looks kick ass and the crowd had such a great reaction to it in the leak actually helped gain the hype for the official trailer release. I've personally watched the last 20 seconds like 30 times. He looks fascinating.

What if this movie made just as much as BvS? Or if it turns out to be a more successful and better movie?

Could it propel Captain Boomerang and Enchantress and make them A-list villains? That would be hilarious.

I really hope there are scenes that show Deadshot's "evil" side....or just show him to be a complete bastard.

Will Smith seems like a big comic book fan and would keep the characte faithful.

But that trailer didn't really show much.

Honestly, while I think BvS has an amazing cast, I think people might be underestimating how insane the cast for this movie is.

Obviosuly Will Smith is Will Ssmith, and Leto is going to be a big draw no matter what. Margot Robbie is staring in this as her popularity is seriosuly growing. But the wild card is Cara. While maybe it's not obvious in the US, Cara is like a genuine up and coming star in the UK. Also, because of her popularity in the modeling world, a lot of fashion magazines are reporting on the trailer which they might not otherwise be reporting on.

It's kind of a perfect casting storm

I think the diversity of the cast will help this film a lot. Several strong female leads and multiple races and ethnicities among the main cast can give it an edge.

I eagerly await all the "What are the best Katana and El Diablo comics?" threads we're sure to get next year.

Rope Guy's trilogy is going to be incredible.

She was also in Taylor Swift's Bad Blood video. DC gonna get the teeny bopper demographic with her casting. :P

Joker and Harley are huge. I'm honestly not surprised about the views.

Since from the beginning, I'm more hyped for this than any other DC and Marvel movie. Please, be good.

This is why going darker is the right thing to do for DC. A lot of DC's appeal is in their villains, who are better served in a univese that allows them to go fully crazy. I imagine that if these youtube views match up with box office success, this will probably guide the future tone of DC movies more than Superman V Batman.

DC havea lways struggled to expand their comic book properties beyond Batman and Superman, so I imagine Warner Bros execs are eying this up as the first real chance (and test) to see how to launch a new franchise (well "new" in the cinematic world).

Ehhhh with how hard DC is pushing Katana, there is no doubt she survives or a least dies at the end of the movie.

Considering she's the one real hero on the team, I wouldn't be surprised if hers is the first death to really feel kinda tragic and shocking. If there's a traitor in the group (and there probably will be...
*cough* Flagg*coughcough*
), she's maybe the one who gets killed by him. Probably what pushes Deadshot/Harley/whoever else towards doing something a little more selfless towards the end, or atleast tips them off that something is wrong with this whole mission.

I like to think the reason for the trailer views catching up to BvS is due to people like me, who are on a media blackout for what's potentially WB's biggest movie ever. I haven't watched either teaser or trailer for BvS, but I personally watched the SS trailer 25 times.

Also, while I genuinely would argue that BvS is probably one of the best quality trailers of all time, i would argue that Suicide Squad is the more interesting trailer. BvS only needs like one view and your pretty much sold on the film, but Suicide Squad kind of demand multiple viewings to really get it

I'm pretty sure though that the opening weekend was massive though right? It just had no legs once everyone realised how shit was.

If this film is good, I could imagine it having good enough legs
It did really well first week and dropped off due to absolutely horrendous ratings by critics and word of mouth.

Definitely agree here. I still am not too happy about hearing that it will be PG-13 though. -_-

The drum sound in the beginning was greatness. Some creepy Joker/Harley vibe. Perfect start. I want to stay skeptical since a lot of the recent superhero movies have been bland other than Winter Soldier, GOTG and the latter two X men movies.

I see that being more a thing you'd do with El Diablo. Villain who earnestly wants to redeem himself is killed by the supposedly noble handler of the team, leaving the squad to figure out how to avenge him and complete their mission without Waller thinking they're turning on her and blowing their implants.

I'm pretty familiar with the source material for DC so I can't say there's really anything these movies can do that would surprise me. Spoilers are not really something I worry about. I knew just about every scene in detail for Man of Steel prior to release and it didn't hurt my enjoyment at all. So I've watched both the BvS and SS trailers A LOT.

I do think the reason the SS trailer is doing so well in comparison to BvS is simply because people know Batman and Superman. The idea of a comic book villain flick is more intriguing. I remember there being similar interest in that rumored Supermax movie from a ways back.

It really is just one of those trailers. Perfect storm of a great cast (including the return of a legendary villain) and a bit of a fresh idea. And to think this almost never happened, as Warner might have really considered keeping this Con-exclusive.
Croc is as good as dead. Katana, Waller, and Deadshot are safe.

Croc should just end up MIA. He's that wild creature that causes panic when loose. A brief encounter with him in Gotham's sewers would be a cool way to open a Batman movie.

Y'know, if you took away the make up, tats and grills, he'd actually look incredibly friendly based on that photo. There's actual mirth in those eyes.

If you do that, he becomes the overly attached gf meme.

To me, it's what has made him so terrifying in the trailer.

He is doing it with glee and joy.

And there's nothing scarier than someone who enjoys making people hurt
