Fighting Games Weekly | July 20-26 | No Gods or Kings, Only Tears

Because I know an Elena main will correct this, that's cr. lp.

Everything else you said is true tho.

Just be Gouken and mash counter, shutouts to Count Blackule

Kappa
Oh, when I write "c", I mean "crouching"; that's how it's written in Marvel play, so I tend to write it that way. Glad to see "cl" will be disappearing from the notation language soon!

There are some character types I can't play. Counter characters is one such type, because I spend too much time thinking "this is when I need to counter!" I end up making lots of bad guesses. I think I actually prefer playing a character without counters or reversals, just because then I know I have to block, haha. :-P Keeps me from getting addicted to stupid tactics.

Though I have thought about it a lot, and I think I would play Juri if I wanted to get into SFIV right now. If she gets announced for SFV, I'll have 3 characters I'm interested in playing - woah.

stocks = hp :)

Yup

I agree about his power being supernatural. my guess: some kind of ancient/hidden society or tribe's power that the illuminati fooled around with

Cool analysis Karst. Made me want to play him more.
Thanks guys!

People use Healing. She's one of the few characters in the game (maybe only her and Ryu) that have all good supers. Since she doesn't have much in the way of combos she's played lame a lot.
I was under the impression people only used healing to troll (same with Ryu Shin Sho). I never really played 3rd Strike heavily myself, this is what I've been told from people who do though. Happy to be corrected though, if this perception is wrong.

I mean you said crouching light kick.

It's actually her crouching light punch that does most of the biz if I'm not mistaken.

Some matchups Healing is better. Like Hugo. He does big damage so out prioritizing him and healing to avoid dying to gigas breaker is pretty common. Shinsho isn't as good as Shinku or Denjin but it's still a good super. Once it's stocked the other player doesn't throw unsafe stuff out as much and you can put some pressure on them til you land it.

What was the highest viewers count?
I got bodied by the time zone after Melee's Top 8. Did we beat last year numbers by a lot?

Nice to see USF4 finally get the most fighting game views.

This was one intense Evo with so many upsets and reversals going on. Even my friends who don't follow fighters much had to sit down and watch it. Hope Evo only gets bigger and better in the coming years.

Who was the high ranking Gaffer in this tourney?

If clock counts, prob him.

And now for the question folks ask themselves once a year...

For me, I'm gonna try to play more anime in general and Skullgirls. They had the hypest top 8.

EDIT: Also I really wish the title was Fighting Games Weekly|Frauds Among U.S.
lol

Marvel. I still have so far to go. It's still my favorite to watch and play, by far.

Still wanna get non-fraudulent at xrd as well.

sadly couldn't see ggxrd finals so I'll have to watch the replay. marvel really didn't do much for me. leaving las Vegas tmw afternoon

also not gonna lie. slept in my chair through smash melee finals

Probably more Guilty Gear at some point. I had it at launch, but never fully got into it.

Ultra as well. That top 8 motivated me to improve my Juri.

I have to admit Marvel is one of the games I got most hype for this year. Doubt I'll go back to playing it serious though, as online is terrible.

First person I thought of, but dude's a legend tier player.
Also, according to some folks, random online = Galactus teams.

Just Smash 4. Though after watching Hungrybox play, I realized that I could probably play Melee at a proficient level without having to deal with all the technical crap.

Post EVO I'm interested in only playing XRD, Yatagarasu, and Melee when me and my friend have time to get together for casuals.

I'm waiting for SFV to play Street Fighters that aren't ST and 3S / 2I.

Wasn't he wavedashing a lot?
Nah, almost entirely airborne. Jiggs generally doesn't like being on the ground. His aerial acceleration and aerial speed are too good. He's slow and weak on the ground.

Actually, you might have noticed that the most common time for Hungrybox to get hit was when he briefly landed with Jiggs to refresh his jumps.

Oh, I know she mostly hangs in the air, it's one of the reason I enjoy using her so much. That mobility is too good.

But when on the ground he uses wave dashing a lot to better position himself or move around.

Ah. Well, I said proficient, not masterful. ;-)

I doubt wavedashing is even that hard. Like doing a tridash, it seems.

Too bad I suck at both ( ._.)

I really tried to learn how to wavedash in Melee years ago but couldn't do it consistently, even though I was using Luigi.

Isn't it just jump and then air dash diagonally into the ground asap?

SFV, BlazBlue Fan Fiction, and the new UNIEL. Nothing has really changed, I guess.

Anybody have a YouTube link of the Razer stick malfunction? I didn't see it happen live.
You can YT search it.

Lol @ BB Fan Fiction.

After this win, I've done everything I could aim to achieve in Marvel. I'm retiring to take down other games now.

Let's see how he feels in a year. Everyone is on the come down after Evo.

Will continue to focus on Xrd, possibly some Skullgirls on the side. Very much out of practice with Marvel, not that it was ever one of my better games, but I wouldn't mind going back to it. Haven't been particularly serious about P4AU without any word from Atlus on when the 2.0 patch is coming to consoles.

I haven't played SFIV since vanilla, but I'm interested in giving it another try with USFIV. Will pick up SFV once I actually have a PS4. BlazBlue I'll get back to when I get to it (haven't bothered since CS, so I'll consider CPE since I skipped the original). Other than that, UNIEL looks good.

SFV, go back a bit to Guilty Gear XRD, might even try MKX and see how it's like. But in the immediate future I think I'll go labbing with some Smash 4 characters.

After EVO I feel like I should hang out some more in these threads.

Street Fighter 5 and Blazblue Central Fiction.

If I pre-order now will I still get a Street Fighter 5 beta code? Or did you have to pre-order before the 20th in to get it?

Really? That makes me a little less excited to try the beta.

That new beastly character is the one I want to try out. But, I suppose I'll have to wait until the next beta for that. Until then, guess I'll stick to Birdie and Bison.

next beta is PC only. I'm still trying to decide if I want to play this on PC like planned or get a console.

And I can understand KBR"s logic- go out on top. If I ever won an EVO, I'd prob retire and declare myself the world champion of the world.

Gamerbee vs Infiltration in Losers' Finals was one of the finests matchs of SF4 i ever saw. Really some high high level fighting skills, not because we saw insane combos, but the concentration and not succumb to the brutal pression the match has, was absolutely remarkable.

Really really happy with this year's Evo. Cant wait for 2016 edition.

Street Fighter V and Tekken 7 for me. Got to play the latter at a loketest a while back and I like it, just not enough to hit the arcades on a regular basis (married life plays a factor too). The former I like a lot so I'm expecting good things once it's out.
