Pretty sure all retailers participating in the beta pre-order bonus are providing the codes via email.

And I'm willing to bet it's because they don't want Gamestop employees giving away leftover codes to people who didn't preorder, which has happened in the past

And yes, Amazon should be sending out codes for people who preordered physical ps4 copies shortly.

Amazon will email beta codes to all pre-order customers starting Jul 20,2015. The first BETA will go live on 7/23 at 6pm PST, and will last until 7/28 at 6pm PST. Unfortunately yeah but there will be 3 phases of beta. You can catch fall one.
