I'm really enjoying reading the salty tweets.

I'm done

The salt is unreal! Lmao

Also I need someone to do the spotlight for next week but I'm pooped from EVO weekend to write the whole post out so highlight people you want to nominate, or to make it easier for myself, volunteer.

If people really walk out, new people will just walk in. EVO2015 rocked like 200k+ viewers surely some of those ppl want to actually be there instead.

MVC3/UMVC3 is really fast paced. It's a nice change of pace from every other fighter.

KBR's team hurts cause it is made up of three "low" tier characters. Reality is it is made up of two high tier chars with a godlike assist that makes there flaws harder to exploit.

The assists is what allowed KBR's Hulk to go unpunish. Team has great synergy.

KBR had tons of incoming mixups and stagger pushblock setups with both Hulk and Haggar to set up there grabs and command grabs(see Jwong getting his Storm piledrived twice by Haggar).

Also he had great fundamentals and did combos he could finish that were death.

And on top of that against characters that flew he forced them on the ground with the Hulk clap into Haggar assist. He cut off there vertical movement as well as setting up an incoming cross up.

He just played more calm and had better neutral/fundamentals than everyone else.

KBR won fair and square. No ifs or buts. You might have an easy pool but after pools, everybody is a shark. I felt the Marvel top 8 this year was hype because of the major upsets before (now if we had seen the matches, that would've been even better but that's not the players' fault). Nobody had even considered that out of the big three, none would even make top 8. That's huge.

Of course I understand it stings that the US lost at what's essentially their game. But their champs got lazy and obviously weren't as hungry.

Also, volunteered.

And now for the question folks ask themselves once a year...

I'm going to try to actively training mode Xrd more than ever to compliment my regular meetups, but I'll also try to keep my +R, VF5FS, and VSav moving forward. Time will be set aside to give SFV a chance, and any spare time will go to the three KOF's featured on Steam and Yatagarasu.
...
Maybe Skullgirls too, now that the balance changes are over.

After this win, I've done everything I could aim to achieve in Marvel. I'm retiring to take down other games now.

If he's serious, I'm not that surprised. I had the chance to grab dinner with KBR with our Ontario anime fighter group at Toryuken, and he was very quick to question us about our respective games. Definitely seemed open to expanding into new frontiers back then, I'd say.

These guys complaining about setplay is gold. Reminds me of PL's salt over SonicFox's setplay conversation.

KBR's team doesn't rely on TACs and infinites or 5 bars Xfactor anchors. It relies on using armor to blow you up. Somehow that's not real Marvel

That's pretty hilarious and disgusting, the Marvel illuminati is basically a bunch of bullies who think they own the game and every outsider is a scrub, too bad a foreigner won your tournament. Stay salty.

Hope he does this and doesn't give the dumbshits a runback.

Ya'll need a reading comprehension check.

Man, reading Ricki and everyone else's tweets about KBR is just... sad.

Like, does any other fighting game have this much of a problem with the newblood? Most of those tweets are just downright pathetic and childish, if not just absolutely nasty. This isn't an Infrit situation where he bypassed a lot of the stronger players; KBR got to where he did fair and square, and bopped Justin Wong to losers. Chris G and Champ both ended up getting bopped by people they shouldn't have/people that just flat out leveled up.

Fuck, I think KBR really should just say fuck Marvel at this point, because this top-player circle ATM is just toxic.

JWong and crew are just poor losers in general. The only person who even said grats to kbr on twitter was fchamp, and he only said it after some of his followers gave him shit. Fuck them.

Also, Jwong got knocked out of SFIV once again because of EX messiah FADC ultra drop. Made me laugh.

That's really sad to hear because I was super stoked for a newcomer like KBR to win Evo. His whole game plan is to make money winning tournaments to go to the next one so he has a great attitude about his own skills and progression.

Top players in the US have a clique and KBR isn't a part of that, which probably helps with the salt. I mean cliques are fairly natural for people but top folks in the US seem to be closed off more. It's when you get into the regional crews that you get the more chill folks like Norcal (Kelvin, LPN, etc) and groups similar to them.

It's fairly true that a lot of folks didn't think much of KBR when he first started out. KBR mentioned to me that Tokido didn't think much of him when he first went to Japan but Tokido began to respect his Marvel play after seeing all the hard work he put into it to make that crazy team viable.

KBR isn't without faults obviously (as some have come out and talked) but that's something that doesn't really detract from a guy that put everything on the line to achieve his dream.

frutsy was genuienly happy for kbr, anyone noticed how he stayed back after the cerenomy to wait for him and congradulate him.

apologyman can't do shit without his unblockable setup and can't even play as 2p. who gave his bum ass permission to speak. that's the shit you complained about when you were 6 and you played your sibling/friend in SF2 on the SNES

You SHOULD be stoked because of what KBR's win represents. His win is a perfect example of you CAN win by hard work and dedication. You CAN win with lower tier characters. You CAN win in a game dominated by a different region. You CAN win even if you aren't a "god".

hey all, no /r/streetfighter tournament today, everyone is dead from EVO and we want to use the time to set up for our sponsorship tournaments next week :)

People should be happy KBR won due to the fact his win represents a lower tier team winning via hardwork and building a strong cohesive team.

Honestly, do people really want KBR to create a Logan team on the same level? The work he puts in would be scary.

KBR team does so much damage. I didn't realize that Hulk and Haggar are like that, it's like Justin with Storm and Akuma.

GCYoshis argument falls apart when you remember that every player looks for stuff that not only is the best, but is easy to use.
He has no real argument.

If it's so easy to win with Hulk/Haggar I would like to see these top players win EVO with Hulk/Haggar.

All of this is funny hearing from a guy who's idea of Sentinel neutral is to mash S.
