Xbox owners don't care about Japanese games. Sorry. I am American, i enjoyed Xbox and 360, but its the American only console. And when that demographic doesn't play Japanese games, it only makes sense to not put those games on the platform.

If anything, you can do two things: blame MS for not prioritizing those titles, or the audience for not creating a big enough stir for those titles. Not the devs or publishers for making common sense business choices.

I care, I very much looking forward to KH, FFVX anf FFVII:R.

Even as an Xbox One gamer, this is a deal that doesn't benefit Xbox gamers in any way. We were going to get the game anyway. They didn't pay for us to get a better experience; they paid for everyone else to have a lesser one.

That's not something anybody on any side of the gaming fence should support.

This!

LOL, stop taking things too literally. It's obvious what Inuhanyou meant.

Seriously,

The moment anyone doesn't use specific language, everyone comes out of the wood works proclaiming: "BUT I DO!"

Sure it's a generalized statement to say Xbox One owners don't care about Japanese games, and to a certain degree that's true. The MAJORITY of Xbox One owners don't give a shit. We are on posting on Neogaf where people obviously care for the medium more and have tastes in a wider variety of game genre regardless of platforms. So no need to get in a tizzy when someone says "Xbox One owners don't care for Japanese games" because the majority don't, gamers on Neogaf are an exception.

Post I quoted said "Xbox owners don't care about Japanese games"
I do.

It's so obvious what they meant, if you bothered to read the rest of the comment, you'll know exactly they're talking about the majority.

Heck I don't even need to read the rest the comment to know Inuhanyou is talking about the big majority an not 100%.

If SE feels they that enough xbox fans to make FFVX and KQ, they without a doubt have enough to make FFVII too.
Not necessarily. The decision for VX and KH3 to appear on the platform was made before they had actual numbers of the consoles. Right now I wouldn't be surprised if they wait to see the numbers for the two games before they commit to it again.

If SE feels they that enough xbox fans to make FFVX and KQ, they without a doubt have enough to make FFVII too.

Again both of those games were announced at the beginning of the cycle when SE didn't know which one would gain momentum. Fast-forward to 2015, PS4 is the console to put games out on, especially world wide. I mean KH3 on the Xbox reeked of desperation on SE's front, when has a KH game ever appeared on an Xbox? Well I guess it's time to put out the last game of the trilogy on it. They just want to cover their asses in the event either one takes off, they couldn't have predict which console would be selling more.

As for FFVII, It's first on PS4, what it comes out on next I don't know. If it comes out on Xbox One fantastic for all the Xbox-only gamers. PC is a given at this point.

Not trying to stir anything else up here, just a question: do we know for sure that Sony hasn't made a deal on FF7 similar to Tomb Raider? I'm asking because I may have missed it, is all. There is a lot of "First on Playstation" stuff, but no clear explanation as to when it's coming to PC/Xbox. My point is this: If we don't know the terms of the deal (and if we do, then disregard this), how is this different than what Microsoft did at the ROTTR announcement just with different language? The fact that Square will only say that they'll talk about other platforms at a later time screams "deal" to me. I know it's not the same thing, again, but IN MY MIND it sounds similar.

When MS announced the deal with Tomb Raider, Websites reported it as exclusive to Xbox and then had to ask questions for clarification later, when Sony announced FFVIIR, websites had the "First to Playstation" there and didn't have to ask for further clarification.

If SE feels they that enough xbox fans to make FFVX and KQ, they without a doubt have enough to make FFVII too.

It's a weird one because I think if SE announced KH III at this year's E3, it would have been announced for Playstation only, like Nier and Star Ocean.

Yes I understand this. The wording MS used sucks. People are pissed that there is a 1 year delay to play it on PS4. Do we know if Sony has a similar deal? We don't right? I just think it sucks for everyone that these deals happen, but they DO happen. Business as usual.

I'd like to see some numbers that support that Xbox owners don't care for Japanese games. A lot of the Japanese released games last gen weren't exactly barn burners on either console, and quite a few sold very well on the 360.

link? haven't seen that one.

Do you have a link of his post implying that ?

Link? I don't remember him ever saying that.

he said the following words.

If it's not coming to Xbone I can't understand why Sony don't just come out and say it's a PS4 and PC game? What's stopping them?
You've answered your own question there..

It's not incompetence. As it stands, things are great for SCE. Game is in development, and it's coming to PS4. Securing a big game isn't that simple. Square Enix also has to take a look at a lot of things, and what makes sense for them at the end of the day, is what's most sensible. Considering how far we are, and the nature of these things, we can amend things in the future, if it makes sense. But regardless of any of that, SCE is going to benefit the most from this game. FF is a Playstation franchise. SCE will get behind this in a huge way, and the marketing campaign for it will be big too. Regardless of whatever ends up being the most sensible option, SCE has already benefitted the most.

Securing big games takes a lot of cash, and simply doing it to appease fans for something as silly as "bragging rights" would be pretty stupid. Depending on what's involved, that support could be provided to bring another game from somewhere. Regardless of any of that, it's coming to PS4 first. That much can be assured. Beyond that, it's mostly SE's decision. But people shouldn't buy too much into the whole it has to be on PS4 only or whatever, in case they end up being disappointed in the future, as if it's some kind of personal offence.

SCE is really happy with things as they are. I see no reason why others need to be upset about it.

If you read closely, as of now it's first on PlayStation and it's SE's decision to release it on other platforms. So, obviously Xbox One is a candidate. It's always been a candidate for release after the PS4 version.

Verendus indicates, that because it's still early in the development, that the nature of things can change.

As of right now, its First on Playstation, that's the only thing solid.

I'd like to see some numbers that support that Xbox owners don't care for Japanese games. A lot of the Japanese released games last gen weren't exactly barn burners on either console, and quite a few sold very well on the 360.

Tales of Vesperia sold more on the PS3 than on the 360 more than a year later. I wouldn't be surprised if RotR sold as much if not more on the PS4 when it's released a year later.

There is some sort of deal, but Boyes said that clarity on that deal will be explained shortly before the game launches. Tentatively, First on PS4 is what they're going with.

Even assuming it's the same exact deal, the fact that the initial language suggest timed from the get-go, and Sony was quick to add immediately post-E3 that "we'll explain the details of the deal at X time", meant that all the questions that could be answered regarding the deal already is.

Deals do happen. And it sucks. But there are ways to treat them gracefully, instead of trying to pretend that the deal was more than what it was. In the first place, it was a big get for MS, so there was no need for them to pretend it's bigger than what it is.

Basically, yeah.

But what about the people that are thinking of getting either an Xbox One or PS4?

But what about the people that are thinking of getting either an Xbox One or PS4?

They'd still get a PS4 since the game isn't exclusive to XB1.

Now that this game is confirmed to be 100% multiplat months in advance, I imagine XB1 will lose some sales among the undecided (if Tomb Raider was the deciding factor).

But what about the people that are thinking of getting either an Xbox One or PS4?

From what perspective we're talking about here? Gamer's perspective or the platform holder's perspective?

Because if you're talking about the point of view of a gamer who still didn't decide his console or already has a PC, there's no gains here from the exclusivity.

Wow, crazy them announcing this before Xbox One release. Plus Fallout coming out on the same day. I don't see this deal doing anything for Microsoft.

All they want is mind share. They couldn't care less if Tomb Raider recoups money. It won't. They want consumer mindshare going into the holidays to maximize hardware sales. Pretty clear they got that.... starting with the bomb last year. The more consumers are talking about Xbox, the better. They have achieved that. It's all about putting yourself on the map. "Costly" for MS but that's the price you pay....

Edit: Thanks Z.

I really don't think this moves the needle much at all. In the end it will come down to how much cheaper it is compared to PS4.

I suppose they care if TR2 do really well, because it could make negotiating future deal a lot easier than not. Though I do agree it's not their main concern.

In addition to that, it's generally bad business for a company to cater to rare exceptions like jesu.

You have to admit that it is rather odd that this would get announced now. Why not just keep quiet on the pS4 version. We all knew it was coming, but if I were MS I wouldn't be too happy.

That's what I'm saying though. Everyone is just gonna buy Fallout and wait for the PS4 version. Tomb Raider launch will be a non-event.

I'm an Xbox guy. I don't give a shit about Japanese games. Outside of of the mainline nintendo titles like mario and zelda japanese games are terrible IMO.

Well of course (all things considered doing good > doing bad) but I was making the other point - that's their primary mandate. MS will ultimately judge their efforts by how well they're able to move consoles this coming holiday. Content is part of the mix, and Tomb Raider is part of that content mix.

MGS5 and Bloodborne will likely end up being the top 2 games of the year and likely in the greatest of the generation list.

For you maybe. I highly dislike the metal gear series and won't be touching the latest and we'll I did actually enjoyed my time with bloodbourne I've already played a few other games this year that I've enjoyed more.

Having said that I respect that those might be good or great games for some people. Its just that I don't really like that style. But me personnally I'll take games like halo 5 and gears of war any day of the week.

I don't buy that at all. Microsoft didn't pay for a better experience by having the dev team, with likely significance resources coming from Microsoft's end, focus exclusively on building the Xbox One version of the game? How will that laser like focus on the Xbox One as a platform not somehow lead to a better experience on Xbox One as opposed to if the dev team were split between building the game for both PS4 and Xbox One at the same time? This isn't me saying the Xbox One version will be better than the PS4 version, but what I'm saying is that the Xbox One version of the game will be much better off than it would've been if the dev studio were split between developing the game for both PS4 and Xbox One simultaneously. Tomb Raider on Xbox One is receiving the kind of exclusive attention that a true first party game would receive on the platform, which has to be for the best.

And I believe a separate team entirely is building the game for the 360.
