Fighting Games Weekly | July 20-26 | No Gods or Kings, Only Tears

With the slide the only things I saw were Psycho Blast and super. Did you find anything else?
The super. :p

Found out that you can just jump behind someone and Yolo crossup super, hahaha.

What good stuff have you found?

Edit: you can also combo into MP or LP after the crush. I feel like there must be a better option.

Saw some Ken with Momochi vs Fuudo.. SFV is as good as dead tonight lol. I do wonder if Capcom considers this a successful day, though.. that's my only concern - where is the bar set on their end for this?

Messing around with some crush counter combos with Ryu and I found out you could do HK > Solar Plexus > Cr. HP > V-Trigger > Srk > Super for almost 600 damage and 720 stun. You can do it mid screen and in the corner too. HK > Dash > Back HK might be possible too, but I got disconnected before I could try. Also Ryu's standing LP hits on crouching on Chun Li. I don't remember if it whiffs in SF4 tho.

Is it hard to do in sf4? I'm pretty bad at srk motions but qcfx2 is extremely easy for me (in sf3 at least). sometimes when i mess up an srk a super comes out. I guess i'll try it in ultra training mode later.

In 3s 23623 is a valid qcfx2 input

Oh shit I didn't even think about that, does it actually show as cross-up? That's hilarious.

To be honest most of what I was focused on was ground pressure because it felt like his neutral game got neutered. A lot of LK scissors into c.LP (this can confirm into c.LP, s.LP, s.LK xx LK scissors but it's one of the harder links I've seen in the game). Playing it easy at first looking to eat a couple projectiles and then try to push into corner. Any jump-in HP that connects goes to s.HP -> V-Trigger -> c.MP -> LK scissors xx however many bars you want to spend. Meter is so powerful during V-Trigger I feel like it is a tough call to spend on super offensively so I was just using it on the jump-happy folks (just don't do it too early because if you hit them too high it doesn't go into animation, and the startup is invincible anyway).

To your other question I thought the three different kicks changed the angle that he goes up for Head Stomp. I know the punches change what angle you come down at for Devil's Reverse. When I got booted last night I was messing around with Hell's whatever (j.MPx2) which still seems really good even without the second hit on whiff.

Birdie's crossup is so nasty, can't even tell what side it'll hit on when I do it. Guy seems super dirty and has damage out the ass.

If you gonna play a shoto I see no reason to pick ryu over Ken atm

It's not even a 3s situation where ryu got something hella good to differentiate himself like denjin...gb fireball setups don't carry that weight

I will mess with the head stomp stuff more. First time using Bison, so those subtleties might go over my head.

Agreed on the rest. Super is always the weaker option. Something to do if you can't afford V-Trigger but have a good catch. EX chains do 700+ stun. Super adds 100 I think.

I hope they make his EX chains more consistent. When you do Blast x Inferno x Head Stomp, Head Stomp sometimes misses.

As crazy as Bison's burst damage is, he is still behind the rest of the cast. I don't think anyone else struggles to break 500 with 3 EX bars and full V-Trigger.

Not sure if V-Knee Press has invincibility. I got grabbed out of it once. Do any of his V moves or EX moves act as a reversal? I wouldn't mind a panic option.

Edit: lol yeah, the super registers as a cross-up.

Been doing some Fighting Game research today playing through various stuff. I've come to the conclusion that if Arcana Heart 3 Love Max wasn't so overwhelmingly moe it'd be pretty damned big over here. I'm cool with anime and even I'm getting overkilled by it.

Nasty Tech I've found in Arcana Heart 3 Love Max so far in a day:

  • It has X-factor/Baroque in "extend force"...except with custom bonuses based on Arcana. The speed boost, and cancel are universal and like Baroque the bonus only lasts until you drop the soap on the combo and they can tech out, but depending on Arcana equipped you can get varying additional bonuses like health regeneation and shit.
  • Homing Dash is Godlike. You can block during it, if you double tap it you get a speed burst to it and you can steer it. I go overhead, do homing dash and wiggle around a lot to setup nasty crossup scenarios.
  • Homing Dash is literally also a dash cancel system in the game so custom shit abounds.
  • You can input specials and arcana stuff after you tech before other stuff making for some crazy mind games on trying to pressure someone or not.
  • Dorothy is fucking sick. She throws a triple Akuma fireball that leaves potential traps on the board, has a low multihit trap that can be slid at different ranges, varying fireballs, triple fireballs, some Faust GG shit to toss around, and just mixup and trap machine guns folks. No wonder they won EVO.

Color me surprised as fuck. I knew about homing dash but never dug deep in the thing for research to see how far they took it...pretty fucking far apparently. Even I'll not defend its aesthetic though. Arcana Heart is over the top with Moe and done to death anime stereotypes more than anything I've ever seen. Its also got some of the best tools though because fucking hell that Extend Force and Homing Dash system is sweet.

I could see casual night getting pretty damned heated with this thing after folks get into it. Kind of odd that health, damage, and chip can also be impacted by Arcana. Hell everything is impacted by your choice really...thats how they balance the bonuses they yield. Its fucking odd, and not straight forward with what it means unless you hit a wiki, but damn was it pretty stylish on tech once I stopped to read up and knew what was up.

I ain't asking you to play something that panders this hard with tropes, but damn read up on this thing and watch a few matches sometime afterwards. There is some sick tech in this that needs stolen.

So we just found out how Infiltration learns and practices english. He watches videos of the FGC trash talking each other. What Viscant says to LTG after winning would never not be funny.

There's no way the startup on super is fast enough that people can't change block direction during the animation, right? Sounds goofy though.

I also got whiffs when canceling EX Head Stomp out of EX Psycho Blast every once in a while. Not sure what the deal is. I generally just do 2 bars now even if I have 3 just to see if I can land another LK scissors into EX Blast or Head Stomp with the remaining V-Trigger.

As far as I know Bison doesn't have a reversal outside of V-Trigger except super. Maybe EX scissors or inferno during V-Trigger, but I didn't check during match and we can't set the dummy to do anything which sucks.

Of course more typically right now in an actual match I'm just failing to react to jump-ins in time with c.HP instead of doing anything cool. The part of my brain that has archived all my Bison memory refuses to accept this button being reliable AA.

The best part is that Viscant says that shit while he looks like he just came back from a bible study.
