One important note here.
Every numbered DQ game has been done by an outside studio. Even X, which we originally thought was an internal project, was done mainly by Orca. That means outside of funding and a bit of coordination these games don't effect SE development one bit. They're doing the 3DS game to make money in Japan. They're doing the PS4 version to hopefully goose the numbers for Japanese sales of games they are marketing as global titles. This is a total win/win scenario assuming the development is smooth. SE isn't in any immediate financial danger like they were a few years ago.
So...when Horii talked about playing it on a big screen last year or the year before...he was obviously trolling, but it turned into a reality, right?
なお,発売時期については「30周年内」(シリーズ1作めの発売日は1986年5月27日)を目標にしているとのことだ。
Yes, the engine is dead after FFXV is my guess.
Or he was just being honest but like with everything a company says, people assumed it meant the opposite because reasons.So...when Horii talked about playing it on a big screen last year or the year before...he was obviously trolling, but it turned into a reality, right?
I know we can't really do NX guesses here though so I'll just leave it at that.
No, it's done mainly internally, but there are a ton of different external studios who have helped, including Orca and TOSE.
Regarding DQXI's release date, producer Yosuke Saito said that they're aiming to release it within DQ's 30th anniversary year, meaning anytime from May 27, 2016 to May 26, 2017.

Ah, my mistake. TOSE ninjas at it too?
So besides X, the rest were done largely externally, right?
They should allow indies and 3rd parties to license it.
No, they didn't.Did they say what version? As 3DS looked more like an alpha game there while PS4 version looked more like a tech demo of using UE4.
Why was he obviously trolling? He was very clearly being sincere. I don't understand why you would think otherwise.

“Since it’s a project that we’re barely starting, we’ve made what’s going to be the base of the game, then from here on, we’re at a stage where we’ll make various elements to add to the game. And to do this, we’ll need staff that can provide ideas, so we’ve decided to get planners to help participate in coming up with ideas.”
Yes. 1-5 were developed by Chunsoft, 6-7 were by Heartbeat/Arte Piazza, 8-9 by Level-5.
Probably both if they're treating "DQXI" as one entity.
And haven't people covered that the 3DS version looked like it reused assets so of course it was going to look a bit more complete than the PS4 version. D:
The 3DS version is one of the silliest uses of the Dual Screens I have ever seen.
The retro 2D screen stuff is totally going to end up on smartphones

Silliest? It looks amazing.

Those platforms are so weird
That retro version on the lower screen is so weird
This is so freaking weird
My first reaction was laughter. I think it's amazingly silly and a great idea!
My first reaction was "HOLY SHIT"
...it's still that

BTW, Verendus was right, 5 DQ for PS: Heroes, Heroes 2, Builders, X and XI.
He said all of them would get localized, so I guess even the MMO is coming over.
