I'm waiting for DQ12...WHY IS THERE NO NEW INFO
I'm waiting for DQ12...WHY IS THERE NO NEW INFO
It would be good if it wasn't on 3DS. The QoL and added content was great but the hardware limitations forced them to make compromises. But it would be challenging to play it on that format at this point anyway. I'd wait for VIII ReimagnedI'd wait. The 3DS port of DQ8 isn't good. If you can play the PS2 version, then great - absolutely play that. It's a phenomenal game, and while it's been a while since I last played it, I'm confident that it's still a fantastic experience. The 3DS version compromised the graphics and music massively, and both of those are a big part of the game's charm. I'd rather just not play the game than bother with the 3DS version, frankly.
Development Hell (so it looks like)Looks really good

Maybe VII's story is tied to it? No idea. There's been press that it's had development trouble and they couldn't decide what combat system to use. So I'd hazard a guess it's still a few years out.Looks really good

Like all other SE games.
Talking about the 3DS version, which was a heavily upgraded port feature-wise. The iOS versions are just ports of the original games.DQ8 runs great on my phone. Dq 4-6 have nice iOS ports too.
I'd wait. It's not like we are in a DQ drought like we were ten years ago.Should I play DQ8 now on 3ds or should I wait for a possible newer remake?
Have you played DQ11? I did finish it, that's why it saddens me about DQ12Development Hell (so it looks like)
I actually hope they stay with turn-based battlesMaybe VII's story is tied to it? No idea. There's been press that it's had development trouble and they couldn't decide what combat system to use. So I'd hazard a guess it's still a few years out.
No i haven't played DQ11 yet. I wanna finish DQ8 first on the 3DS but I always postpone it.Have you played DQ11? I did finish it, that's why it saddens me about DQ12
When you start DQ11, it's always "what will happen next" through all of the gameNo i haven't played DQ11 yet. I wanna finish DQ8 first on the 3DS but I always postpone it.
They wanted to change the gameplay in DQ12 maybe thats why it takes so long.
Sounds good, man. When you start DQ11, it's always "what will happen next" through all of the game

Yes, I learned that FFT is an exception.Wait, I thought FF Tactics on switch 1 gets a free upgrade to switch 2 version? And the regular Switch 1 game is the only version with the FULL game on the cartridge while the Switch 2 version is just a download code? Can someone check on this for me?
Can we have new games?
Last info we have on DQ12 was Yuji Horii saying that they've encountered difficulties and he can't say more. So who knows what's up. Square also assigned Yosuke Saito to producer for the Dragon Quest IP quite recently.Looks really good

I think it's because they are changing from turn-based (DQ11) to something elseLast info we have on DQ12 was Yuji Horii saying that they've encountered difficulties and he can't say more. So who knows what's up. Square also assigned Yosuke Saito to producer for the Dragon Quest IP quite recently.
Really? That would suck big times.I think it's because they are changing from turn-based (DQ11) to something else
I loved DQ XI, but I couldn't play more than 2 hours to DQ III because the ancient combat system and generic story, I wonder what about this.
It's more like that Toriyamas character & monster designs are so iconic that you can't just change them without it totally not feeling like dragon quest anymore it's what made the games so charming the monsters make the worlds feel alive. When he died a huge piece of the work went with him setting DQ12 development back a lot. I'm sure SE have some contingency plan for when any of them pass away so the rest can keep going and use the previous designs ect but without Toriyama to create new characters for the new game someone else has to try to do it. Luckily he had students that he taught his artstyle to so there are people who can replicate his style.I think it's because they are changing from turn-based (DQ11) to something else
I'm convinced it will be one of the best DQ and JRpgs of all time, the combat system will still be repetitive but fun nonetheless.I loved DQ XI, but I couldn't play more than 2 hours to DQ III because the ancient combat system and generic story, I wonder what about this.
Me. I don't mind it being like like a Blu Ray disc, I just need offline authentication. This is so disappointing. The Switch 2 version isn't even actually physical, is the problem. Who the hell would pay that much money for a Game Key card. Oof.
I'm feeling you. To me the time is running twice as fast as it should so that 12 years feel like 6.WTF is happening to time!![]()
I really like turn-based battle systems. Enjoyed it in DQ11 and now in Blue DragonReally? That would suck big times.
I know that, DQ11 in terms of design is additional Dragon Ball for meIt's more like that Toriyamas character & monster designs are so iconic that you can't just change them without it totally not feeling like dragon quest anymore it's what made the games so charming the monsters make the worlds feel alive. The fact that we haven't even had a single screenshot of anything fom it let alone a single character design makes me think it's this issue. Changing the covers on the erdrick trilogy to a different artstyle is one thing but trying to do that in all the game would totally kill what dragon quest is it would become some other bland rpg series.
I get my news from Brooke. I also get it from Dale, down at the bait shop, down by the river.
If it makes you feel better, the west didn't get the DQVII 3DS remake until 2016. So it's really a 16/10 split rather than a 13/13 one.![]()
Saw someone tweet this image and... I can't believe it's been the same amount of time since the 3DS version as the 3DS version was from the original.
WTF is happening to time!![]()
VII and VIII really stand above. To be fair, I have XI in my backlog and hoping it gets a Switch 2 improvement.I would argue that seven is the best Dragon Quest. It is where you restore a world.
Mother of God
Over 50 hours just for the main story. And then there's the rustic, outdated look. You'll need the utmost patience to finish it.![]()
You asked for it......I'd chop off my own balls for a version of Final Fantasy 9 like this
Why?I think I will just watch the cutscenes.
And DQVIII port is heavily compromised with its vertical view and downgraded audio.Talking about the 3DS version, which was a heavily upgraded port feature-wise. The iOS versions are just ports of the original games.
