Masaki Norimoto being the director for this is really weird. He's definitely the most experienced game designer who has been with tri-Ace since the start, but he has never directed a game. The closest he has come is with Star Ocean 2 as the planning director. Usually he's just credited for game design (ToP, SO1-3, VP1-2) or scenario (VP, RoF). After more than 20 years in the business, I wonder why he's finally taking up the director's role now. Pretty exciting!

Being on Vita just made it 1000000% more interesting to me, though lately I've begun to prefer playing on the big tv. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for more information.

Exist Archive sounds like a typical Engrish title, like ideawise they were going for Archive of Existence/Being or something like that and decided the less wordy the better? XD

He's the last tri-Ace member who hasn't directed a failure.

And here i was thinking what seems like only recently that Tri Ace would never make notable games again

Is this a good thing or bad?

You're making it seem ominous lol

So I'm guessing this will have the same quality as Valkyrie Profile and Resonance of Fate/End of Eternity?

Most things on their own aren't "good" or "bad". They're just factoids. Norimoto is a founder of tri-Ace and he has never directed a game until now. I think it's a bit odd, but pretty interesting too.

not that i know much of tri-ace, but could it be that he is one of the most tenured people left?

just wondering if it's just a matter of no one else really being around.

I need bigger pics! Any hope for more info/video/whatever today?

The actual reveal isn't actually for another 32 hours or so. Not sure if there will be a magazine leak before then, but if there is, it probably won't be too much sooner.

I don't think that would be the main reason. They still have other directors at tri-Ace, and Gotanda isn't directing SO5 himself either. But it could definitely be a factor if they were looking to build an important new IP and he was the one who was most passionate about the idea though.

Characters Look kind of like Black and White from Kekkai Sensen.

They released FFXIII on the very same day RoF was released, and the week before God of War 3 came out. Different types of games but RoF probably suffered a lot.

No they didn't.

FFXIII was March 9th, RoF was March 16th

But yeah it's still way to close anyway lol!

Star Ocean 4 was released on PS3 a month before in Feb too. They really overcrowded that period. Maybe they thought FFXIII would make people wanna buy other JRPG's too.

Another Japanese game skips Xbox One. Can't blame the developer. I feel sad and feel it is back to the original Xbox/PS2 era...

About the game, it looks interesting and it is from 3A. I might pick it up for my PS4.

So good to see new tri-ace titles for consoles being announced after I thought they were dead in the console space just half a year ago!

Disappointing character designs and it looks to be another male protagonist with the female sidekick with long pig tails.

Looking forward to more info and I guess beggars can't be choosers

This kind of got lost among all the Dragon Quest news but nice to hear more JRPGs are on the way. Especially for my favorite legacy handheld.

Some info from magazine

So that's Valkyrie Profile, then. Good good.

This is also Valkyrie Profile.

This could be interesting! I look forward to actually being able to see a screenshot or similar.

They are trying too hard to say "Hey, guys, it's the VP3 you demand” except the character design.

It's not VP3 though. VP2 already introduced a lot of elements which advanced the series beyond just sideview action, and it emphasized a much of standard story progression which wasn't as influenced by meta-game mechanics. This sounds like a total return to VP1's game design concept - you make meta-game choices regarding which characters to "return" to Earth, and that has an influence on the possible endings, your characters are more ambiguous in morality, also unlike the more traditional take in VP2. It doesn't sound like the battles are SRPG style with 3D movement like in VP2 either, instead it's VP1 with a front and back row.

VP1-II!!!!
