last scene in a different camera angle:

jefferson you creepy ass motherfucker

Dude looks like a disguised Agent 47 in this shot.

Hell, I think it is Agent 47.

Damn that first choice was rough. Took me about 10 minutes to decide but agreed in the end, figured Chloe would get pissed if I refused.

Also, I'm mad that I failed to warn Alyssa due to some weird rewind bug. I did warn her, then I pushed that thing into the water, got discovered and rewound but it went back past every conversation I had instead of just that part and I got stuck behind it and couldn't go back. Sorry Alyssa :(

What do you have to say to Victoria to get her to believe you? That's the only choice I'm in the minority in. Oh well, fuck Victoria. I tried damnit.

Well you kinda need to actually treat her nice since the start of the season sooooo there's that.

Also, I know the Prescotts got their hands on a lot of the town authority but could they not have at least taken some video of the Dragon Tattoo bunker and put it on YouTube or Liveleak or something? Call the feds? I mean, c'mon.

It's pretty dumb that Max is the one known for her "photographer's eye" throughout the series, but she didn't bother taking a photo of anything crazy during this episode like when she uncovered Rachel's body or the bunker. Guess it could be explained away through "shock."

The place where you find Rachel's body is the same location where you see the spirit deer.

Oh, right. I just replayed episode one but I guess I wasn't paying attention.

Yeah, she comments on max being nice to her when you try warning her.

Just cleared episode 4. When they get to the junkyard, and I was getting cynical that every episode ending has got a shocking revelation and I was suspecting Nathan wouldn't be the one showing up...Got to admit the game almost got me and I did guessed Mr Jefferson showing up instead of Nathan when she got shot.

Did you go inside the little building during that part?

Pardon my stumbling into here oblivious but does Chloe die no matter what in the ending to the latest episode?

Was not expecting Jefferson that's for sure.

Yeah, the outcome is the same for everyone I think. As to her actually being dead dead, who knows. She's been killed off a few times already and it's been undone, lol.

Nathan's whereabouts this episode seem so tight. We last see him at the boys' dorm, then we go to the beach and then Chloe's house. Between that time, Nathan goes to the dark room and leaves. We go to the junk yard and party, and between that time, Nathan returned to the dark room and warned Jefferson.

I think we can assume Jefferson continued to not go to the dark room himself since Monday as he didn't the week leading up to the game start (Oct 7) because he knew David was tailing him. Maybe Jefferson's ploy was to get Kate to kill herself so David would get fired so he'd be free.

No, what happened?

It's another thing in a long line of rewarding the player for searching for stuff and easter eggs. It's great stuff.

The thing about stuff like this is it can be rewarding, but it can also bring a disconnect between what's actually going on in the story. Chloe was in a lot of pain early on in the episode so she asked Max to get her morphine and, instead of rushing to get it, here I am wandering around the house looking at dumb crap, having long conversations with her parents and letting a bird out of the window.

I suppose that kind of stuff can't be helped outside of adding a timer, which also usually isn't fun (when it comes to exploration). I try to think of it as Max constantly using her rewind so she can waste time while not wasting time.

If you're put on a timer, you could just rewind anyway. :S

Oh yeah...

I'm okay with it, because it'd just add unnecessary tedium to a lot of situations.

The torn letter in the dark room has to be from Jefferson. This can't be Nathan's dad right? It sounds like more like Mr. Jefferson to me. Why would his dad not want him using his name in public? Seems like Jefferson is just using Nathan to fund his creepy photo shoots.

Comparing Jefferson and Nathan's timelines closer on the day of the Vortex Club party where Kate was drugged, Nathan leaves Blackwell (with a not yet GHB'd Kate) sometime after 8 PM where he then heads to the gas station at 9:54 PM. Jefferson shows up at that gas station 9:59 PM.

I think whatever David saw between Jefferson, Nathan, and Kate at the gas station is what led David to hassling her the week after.

I have a bad feeling for Nathan now. Jefferson must have harmed him since he's MIA for the party.

How do you know the Jefferson timing?

Yeah, but when you read it you think it's his dad because his dad's an asshole and the writing suggests the Prescott's are not good people. It's only until the reveal at the end where it being Jefferson makes a lot of things come together.

I really liked the ending but it was far more grounded than what I was expecting. It's just kinda a serial killer plot now, isn't it? Not much room left for the crazy time travel theories, which I thought could have been compelling and thought provoking

I'm guessing Jefferson is just using Nathan as a cover for his own perverse goals. Nathan is probably being manipulated 10 ways from Sunday by Jefferson too into thinking he can clear himself of his family's shadow. One of the photos with Rachel had Nathan out as well, and he was probably drugged at that point by Jefferson, which is probably when Rachel disappeared.

That's probably why Nathan felt so good to see Rachel in Episode 3, when it was just Max in her clothes. Dude probably blames himself for her death for some reason.

I actually think it makes the reveal of Rachel's fate more impactful than some crazy time travel shenanigans. And they still have the huge storm coming to Arcadia Bay so all the supernatural plot elements still have to be resolved in episode 5

Maybe the storm and all the other disasters are a visual representation of the evil going on within Arcadia Bay with Jefferson and Nathan, etc? If Max stops them then maybe the storm will stop too.

It's still pretty clearly supernatural.

How about this, Jefferson can rewind like Max and knows Max has the ability. That's why he knew to first drug Max off guard (other than obviously go for the person with the gun first).

Would also explain how he got to the junk yard before Max and Chloe after the party. Could explain the Nathan/Rachel photo in Jefferson killing Nathan and then rewinding after the photo was taken (he'd then show the photo to Nathan so Nathan would do his bidding). And would also explain how Jefferson could operate in the dark room without David ever catching him there and why there are large gaps where Jefferson isn't accounted for (night of the last Vortex Club party he's at the gas station at 9:59 PM, doesn't arrive home until 5:52 AM the next day).

If Jefferson did set up Kate to die specifically that day, maybe he was the reason why Max couldn't use her powers on the roof, because their rewind powers were overlapping. Maybe it was at this point Jefferson realizes Max had the power.

This episode ended really intense but only really left one opening for a "happy" ending and that is somehow finding a way into the past which should be interesting to see because max should be perma on drugs now.

I knew Nathans reaction to Max wearing her clothes in the diner was strange. I think Nathan having a gun is a good thing going into episode five?

also, david gets suspended and goes to the motel no matter what, right?

another loose end is stella and how much she knows about jefferson/rachel/nathan/kate. she was in that photo with alyssa and kate. sketchy as fuck, it also seems likely that she dosed kate.

Apparently I missed the text messages in the alt universe.

It's going to be real interesting to see what episode 5 brings as it seems the mystery is pretty much solved (though, of course you'll have to somehow find a way to survive... or will Max die?).

Yeah Episode 5 will definitely have some crazy time travel stuff. My comment sounded pretty down on the episode, I think it was the best yet in terms of gameplay and pacing - very well done. Excited to see where it heads, just voicing my tiny little concerns with where it may be heading, but I guess we don't know the full story yet.

On the whole "murder mystery vs supernatural" thing: it can't be a coincidence that the title screen goes to the storm once you finish the episode. It could be meant to represent Max's physical state similar to how Spec Ops' title screen gets more and more eerie as you go through the game

Funny you should say that, there's two text messages on Nathan's phone that clearly come from Jefferson in hindsight. I tried to take a screenshot but Steam is being a bugger for some reason.

Yeah, wasn't Stella the one who mentioned Jefferson and Rachel sleeping together? And as the guard of the party(hired by Jefferson) she could be on the look out and tip him off on anything.
