Life is Strange | Spoiler Thread

I don't know if I'm in the minority with this or not, but I'm actually really glad that the Rachel reveal was so grounded in reality. After all the mystery and crazy theories, she's just well... dead. Probably the most believable outcome. Granted, we still have one episode to go, so I'm expecting the supernatural to make a huge comeback in the end, but my initial fears of LiS simply having too many supernatural themes (time travel, spirit animals, weather, destiny is destiny, native americans etc. etc.) to ever make sense and create a truly compelling story are pretty much gone. It's a very thin line and I think Dontnod are walking like it pros so far.

Same here, complete opposite of Beyond: Two Souls which turned into a Michael Bay film in the end. It's very Twin Peaks which is sort of a no brainer.

Life Is Strange Season 2 : JAPAN aka Life Is Kawaii
Would probably generate tons of salt from the weaboos and be like that VICE expose

After the U.S.A, I'd like them to set it elsewhere, like the U.K, or France (when I see the fantastic job they did with Remember Me, and being French myself, I'd love a Season 2 set here). Maybe some of the dialogue would be a bit less cringey sometimes, if it was set in France...

Yeah, I agree, and I originally wasn't too fond of the eventual grounded reality of it all. Thinking about the plot in this way makes me appreciate the direction it's taken

Well, they are actually france based so I could see that. Some french countryside would be nice.

I want Japan simply for the chance for them to explore and show what the REAL Japan is like. The locals exaggerate the good parts and people like us celebrate the crazy parts. Seeing the day-to-day Salaryman level of Japan would be interesting. Also, imagine how creepy Japanese Jefferson would be? We would be in AUDITION territory.

A lot of countries would be cool, but I think anglophone countries are more accessible to everyone, and francophone ones to them, as a developer. But yeah, Japan could be good as well.

My main issue is that Max doesn't call the police! I know that if she did, the story beats wouldn't be able to play out like they did, but she sees Chloe take a gun—something she's been very against so far—and says nothing. Girl, you dug up the dead body of a missing person! CALL THE COPS.

Chloe was never taken to the Dark Room for one thing, she was drugged in Nathan's dorm room and woke up while he was taking pictures. Probably Nathan trying it out on his own without Jefferson and not administering the drug correctly.

I'm thinking Nathan messed up the dosage on Rachel too, hence her being the only one we know woke up.

The Prescotts basically own the town. Without concrete evidence Nathan would have been free and we wouldn't have discovered Jefferson's rule in all this.

My only fear is a potential backlash from those who think Japan = ANIME! and hate on it on that basis alone. Culture shock would be an interesting angle to explore and it could be about an American student coming to Japan for the first time. It would be hard to pull off but worth the effort.

I suppose we could go to Canada instead, just to play it safe.

Why not France? Modern France isn't very explored in games either. Or for that matter modern Germany. There are plenty of interesting locations around the world that would still be relatable. (Just don't pick the UK, everyone knows that one already).

Yeah, but at the same time, their victims remembering being in a bright room taken by Nathan and a soft voice talking to them is not very good at all. We need more info on their MO.

True. It's just bugging me that they let Kate go. Why would they do that, if they wanted them dead?

Would dig a village/city in Brittany or Alsace. Or Aquitaine.

UK would have everyone screaming Harry Potter! But yes, France, Germany or any other country where English is secondary language would be interesting.
I could also suggest India but the school's would mostly resemble British schools since we adopted their system.

australia please

Oh come on, it would all be about the boys comparing the size of their knives and the story would be about a dingo that ate a baby!

I really don't know about the dialogs.

Nobody knows what French suburbia is like. You can't make things subtly surreal if you don't know what real is. I'm all for GTA Tokyo or the like, but LiS can only be done in an American town.

You know it's kind of sad that American media has made me to so accustomed to American town/cities that I would feel right home with no trouble adjusting if I woke up in Arcadia Bay tomorrow. Not to mention the US is all about the melting pot of people.

That said, French or German suburbia won't be THAT alien to us especially if everyone talks in English.
How can you say nobody knows when we have so many French GAF members. Very short sighted of you.

Why do people always assume America?

Actually America Centric just means taking a perspective that puts America on a pedestal regardless of your nationality
If a French Polynesian tribal talked about how awesome America was and how other countries are weird or awful, that would be America centric

What a dumb, American centric thing to say.

Got it. Processed it wrong, then.

Okay so if Life is Strange 2 is set outside America, guns won't be common so what would character's threaten each other with? Please add to the below list:

UK: Cricket Bats
Australia: Boomerangs
Japan: Katana & Throwing Stars
India: Hockey Sticks

What are the National Weapons of your countries?

Wait, if India have the hockey sticks, what does that leave to Canada?

In all seriousness now, a S2 set in France would be great. Especially if they used French VA, but that's not gonna happen.

Try again, I'm not an American and I've been to France many times more. Nothing can compete with the pervasiveness of Hollywood.

Yeah, if it wasn't for the influence of movies I'd disagree with you, but especially with a high school setting it's definitely easier if you can play off the American high school tropes made popular thanks to Hollywood. Though maybe that in itself is thinking too much of America, since it's not like the high school dynamic is so different everywhere elsewhere, right?

That being said, I'd still like to see them try a different setting next time, but they'd have to go for a different atmosphere with it.

Well India's national sport is Field Hockey but I'm sure we can establish a clear distinction between Field Hockey Sticks and Ice Hockey Sticks.
I wonder if the next gen consoles are powerful enough to render them accurately.

Also, Canadians threaten each other with rude words.... I think

Wouldn't this be the perfect opportunity to educate us then? That's why I suggested that they could always adopt the Culture Shock angle. It would be a brilliant way to introduce us to these so called ALIEN! cultures like France and Germany. And honestly, Euro countries are pretty tame in terms of school culture. Japan and as a whole Asia would be brutal! Investigate murders? Sorry, I have 3 exams on the same day!

What the hell I'm watching a stream and Max is in her room w/ some "presents"... I didn't have that scene at all. Wow they really branched it out. Now I have to replay the game!

Edit: nevermind I think he's on a different episode

What presents? A bomb? The head of a horse? Naked Warren?
Where does this scene take place? Max can't even go in her room in EP 4

I just finished Episode 4 last night. Work and social life got in the way of finishing sooner, but whatever. Holy crap. The delivery on finding Rachel's body just messed me up. I've been listening to the soundtrack since it was released, and now "Mountains" is just going to make me a weepy mess. Kinda wasn't too distraught over Chloe getting shot, because the pacing was way off on the selfie with Warren and made it far too obviously important. But seeing Chloe drop to the ground on top of Rachel... naw, I'm not okay.

Also, "I felt my back break, and that was the last thing I ever felt." Damn.

I think it would be interesting exploring something else than the coming of age. You could address interesting themes and issues without talking about teenagers, necessarily.

Going by the first episode, there is prominent atmosphere of nostalgia and the good 'ol days. Max & Chloe even talk about how much fun they used to have as kids which I feel is something best explored in the final years of your schooling. You can't really be Nostalgic about adult work-life and discussing past regrets like Chloe does could get depressing.

Also, what ethnicity is Stella? She looks Indian to me, is she Hispanic?

Why not retired people? (okay, okay, I'm out)

If we're going full David Cage, Max needs to pull out ZA WARUDO again, freeze time and ora ora Jefferson's ass.

About separating the Dark Room stuff from the wheather stuff, I find that highly unlikely. With how many times Max said that she just knows Rachel is connected to all of this, kind of in a "save the cheerleader, save the world" way, and also how shady the Prescotts seems to be, the bunker was even made for storms.

And what's up with the sudden owl? The owls are not what they seem was would be the obvious reference, but it had to be prevalent thorughout the series. Since it just came in this episode, it makes me suspicious.

It's obviously all connected to the Twin Peaks revival. Mystery solved!

Love all the little details that people are finding.

I didn't even know Stella was a different character from Brooke until I saw them at the party. I can't for the life of me remember anything Stella did in previous episodes, while Brooke had the whole drone and Warren stuff going on.

The butterfly effect? Maybe Warren still wasn't into Brooke?

So Brooke can date someone else? Must of missed that.

Also, what ethnicity is Stella? She looks Indian to me, is she Hispanic?

I was thinking Indian mixed with something else.

Yeah she's in some random places, and she really isn't brought in to the forefront until ep 3 when she is with Warren.
