Alex face and body paint is in no way shaped like a V, come on man.

I hope there's no connection with Gill either, get that shit outta here.

Yea, I wouldn't say "V" shape, but they have this sort of mark pattern going on. I didn't say it was a direct connection though.
I still think its likely Alex shares something with Gill though.

And @ Raitro, nah, I couldn't find a higher Res of the offical picture, this is all I could find atm.

Edit:

This could be a good catch actually! Edit: though now that I think about it, Alex's shoulder/chest markings always appeared more like scars to me, while the red under his eyes seems to be paint. Did we ever learn why he has these scars? Surely not from his suspenders, right?
.

Yea, it really hasn't been confirmed what exactly Alex has, if it's either paint or scar, idk.

Pretty sure the paint is just wrestler-esque stuff. I feel like he's suppose to be a combination of Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior.

Alex's hair and facepaint have always reminded me of The Gladiator (Mike Awesome), an American wrestler who was popular in Japan in the mid '90s.

Alex was actually based on Hulk Hogan i believe...i wonder if this is going to be a problem by putting him in SF V based on the latest incident with Hogan?

That makes sense too, the red is definitely paint tho and definitely suppose to be a wrestler motif thing.

The shirt ripping and Hugo staredown are nods to Hogan, but that's where the similarities end. I think Alex was supposed to represent the alternative, hardcore wrestling style that became popular in the '90s with companies like FMW and ECW. He looks kind of like FMW's biggest American star (The Gladiator), and he fights kind of like its biggest Japanese star (Atsushi Onita).

That's not what I'm saying. I hope Laura is a no nonsense character design wise and not the weird outlandishness of the other grapplers in the series.
We've never really had an all-out wacky female character outside of R Mika that I can think of to be honest. Sakura seems to be kind of non-serious but never hakan, blanka or rufus levels of silly :P

I just had a vision of a zany Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu grappler take on the weird bendy Dhalsim / Necro stretch-form which is horribly counter to what you just said but it popped in my mind.

like an ULTRA rare lobster flop.

Ya shit like that, or a peacock on her head that squawks when her vtrigger activates. Just hoping they take a page outta SNKs book and have a more down to earth design but still retains character unlike say Abel.

Abel is literally Fedor.

The issue is that no one knows what Fedor looks like because he's off-the-radar for casual sports fans.

It's like complaining about Fei's design because you've never seen Bruce Lee.

I was kidding. :) And I agree. Even though I prefer an element of comedy in my characters I'm totally down for a change of pace.

I want her to be grappler too. Kinda tall, kinda swole but lean, mobile. Brazilian Jujitsu or Judo.

Ronda Rousey's stock is sky high right now. I wouldn't mind a character (very, very) loosely based on her.

Can someone explain to me what this Street Fighter Destiny project is about? I think this stuff is conceptually amazing. I'm clueless.
I don't know a huge amount about it, but if my really weak knowledge of it is correct then it was basically a fan collab to create a theoretical new roster that could be used for a street fighter game.
Think of it as being like a game jam, but instead it's an art jam based around the theme of street fighter characters.

I've honestly never been a fan of characters that are virtual stand-ins for real people. Partially because I often feel that it often becomes a straitjacket for any potential evolution or advancement of the character and also just because I don't play games for reality :P

I dont think being based on someone is an excuse for design.

Abel doesn't look that similar to Fedor though, certainly not to the degree of Fei Long and Bruce Lee. It's more a stylistic reference and the outfit.

Their back stories certainly don't match either. Fei Long is literally Bruce Lee in everything but the name.

I'd really love a character with hard, fast, efficient takedowns. I really like some of Asuka's moves in Tekken.

That's Alex. I like the idea of a simple character as much as anyone, but we have one simple female character (Makoto), so I'd like to see someone who at least has some unique aspect about her. In Makoto's case being plain actually made her stand out. If "Laura" was an MMA takedown character who used soccer fouls because she's a dirty player, that would be unique. I'd love that, lol. Leg tackle, charge, headbutt, her and Sean could form the MMA/sports team.

I'm not sure on the vomiting with today's graphics, but I would like a more personal touch to this SF.

unique character intros like Ken vs. Ryu fist bump

fun challenges like brick smashing/car breaking

Hidden boss (Shin Akuma) that only unlocks after competing certain conditions

The small things go a long way.

The problem with this is brick smashing/car breaking are not only not fun, they're the complete opposite of fun. They were ok in the early 90s if you were at the arcade and didn't have anyone to play against and didn't know what you were doing. But apart from nostalgia (and I understand its appeal given your username), it serves no purpose. They were so bad in SF4. So, so bad. Also, I can only hope that Capcom keeps the shin/true/evil/oni/whatever shoto clones the hell away from Street Fighter V. You want fireball, hurricane kick, dragon punch? You'll have at least 4 characters that do the same thing anyway. The whole evil/dark/edgy thing may hold appeal to a younger fan, but it's cheap and eyeroll inducing for me.

Totally agree on the character intros. Should be unique every single time. Would be perfect if they were dependent on simple user-input QTE right before the match. Both users participate, you get a special intro.

yea I always turned the bonus stage off, it was annoying. But my post was just highlighting how those small extra touches make the game a more memorable experience. In reality, they really should come up with new special ways to add unique quirks and charm to the game.

I would love to see some SF1 love... Gen turned out amazing

Birdie is actually from SF1. So is Ryu. And Ken. TOO MANY SF1 CHARACTERS ALREADY. Everyone else that hasn't been used is woefully generic. Joe and Mike? Even if they completely redesigned them, I don't want to play as a guy named "Mike." There is Geki, but he is a generic ninja. The only possible interesting addition from that game would be Retsu, but Gen already has "old kung fu master" on lock. Eagle is cool, but if they put in a stick wielder, I want Maki.

Once again, I have literally zero evidence for that post (nor do I have any inside information on the matter). It's just an educated guess based on what we already know. That being said, it wouldn't be the first time a game was impacted by the ESRB in hopes of gaining a particular rating. Smash 3DS had to remove the Tharja trophy to maintain its E10+ rating.

Are there any T-rated FGs with battle damage? Guilty Gear maybe? Tho it seems to be limited to disheveled hair and dirt marks in -REVELATOR-
Off the top of my head, SCIV had battle damage and a T rating. EA's Fight Night have physical damage with very detailed bruised faces and still maintained a T rating.
