Gamescom: Microsoft press conference (August 4; Scalebound, Crackdown, QB, H5+ more)

Why would they release a smaller Xbox One without a chip shrink. That's what MS and Sony are waiting for. 2016 as well.

MS could probably get away with a smaller design already without a die shrink - the current design was clearly over-engineered from a thermal perspective. Given the 360's launch issues, they obviously went in with a mindset of playing it safe and designing the system to make sure it absolutely, positively doesn't cook itself to death.

Now that they have some long-term data on how the components work in the final design in a real-world setting (rather than the non-final hardware in a lab setting they will have been working with pre-release), they could slim down the system just by tightening the thermal margins (and there are probably some opportunities to simplify/further integrate the overall board layout, although those aren't reliant on an external redesign).

Hell, the existence of the PS4 shows that components very similar to the ones in the XB1 can clearly work in a much smaller enclosure (although they seem to have focussed on minimizing fan noise since the 360 slim, so they probably wouldn't go for a PS4-style design with a blower).

Not saying it's going to happen, but I don't think it's completely outside the realm of possibility.

Looks like we're getting the briefing on Scalebound from the man himself!

Hold me, someone. Hold me tight.

'is MS fucking with me?' something along those lines. he litterally deleted whatever he said 30 seconds later though.

someone then replied and said something like: 'MS always fucking up I wonder how the game will turn out' and kamiya responded 'better than your life'

meant to press edit but quoted myself, what am I doing with my life?

i think he was either drawing attention to his new game or he wanted something and kicked up a fuss on twitter in order to get it.

From the Tweet that followed, it sounds like he would rather present his game on the show floor to the fans instead of on the conference to the press.

This reminds me, two years ago he was giving a signing session on Nintendo's gamescom booth for Wonderful 101. I saw two guys walking by, looking at him and saying:

"Hideki Kamiya? Who's that?"
"Oh, it's that fucker who's made Mario."

Can pretty much guarantee Scalebound will be awesome. Been awhile since Kamiya made a bad game.

Already told a friend of mine I'm going to steal his X1 once it comes out and i get it from gamefly
