Haha just perfect

ITT: People so pissed that DS2 got critized for being graphically downgraded looking for downgrades in other Souls games to make them feel better.

To be fair it's not 'people' it's 'person'.

I am a huge fan of DS2, myself. I hold it in high esteem, right up there with the other Souls games, even if I think it's the weakest of them.

Now, I have to choose which system to get it on.

PC is my default system. Modding tools, usually better performance.

My PS4 is in a more comfortable location in my house.

Most of my real life friends are on Xbox One. I like saving clips and having people comment.

Hmmm.

Bought 3 version, problem solved :p

It isn't. The Dark Souls 2 pre-release demos had actually better assets and a improved lighting engine. Not comparable to the use of overlayed filters.

And all my argument is is that there was a "downgrade" for Bloodborne, Dark Souls 1, and 2. The extent is different in all cases but it's there. You say that it doesn't count for Bloodborne but that is just fucking insane to me to just conveniently give Bloodborne the pass. Going back to the actual playable alphas for Bloodborne *AND* Dark Souls 2, the difference isn't huge but it's there. Going back further to gameplay trailers that were shown (the ones I linked) for Bloodborne and then also for Dark Souls 2 shows a better looking game. Giving Bloodborne the pass and then turning around and berating Dark Souls 2 is fucking asinine garbage.

There wasn't a downgrade. The graphics were improved continually during development. To say there was a downgrade when the only proof you have are trailers that don't exhibit any differences to the final game except some camera angles and camera effects that didn't make the final cut is what is asinine.

Yes, content gets cut from games, everyone knows this. But "downgrade" is a word with very special context on this forum.

Yah, it's a word that gets thrown around too easily and only when it suites the majority's opinions (Dark Souls 2). I say downgrade to mean the game shown and marketed early on looks different than the one we got at release. And it does. To say it doesn't is what is making me go fucking crazy over here. Like I keep saying, I can do little else but show you and if you refuse even then, then I have to just consider that you are literally blind and can't see the difference between then and now.

Imma be straight with you guys. I mean, I've played and platinum'd every Souls game, and I was a bit lukewarm on Dark Souls 3 coming off of Bloodborne (which is a top 10 game for me easily...maybe top 5), but man...this gif. This fucking gif right here really brings it home for me. Just when I think FROM has hit their peak, they always pull off something unimaginable. My hype has been rekindled. Dark Souls 3 is going to melt faces.

Never doubt those fuckers again.

Miyazaki said that he wants to convey 'Withering Beauty' with Dark Souls III so that explains the colors in the trailer, though I'm sure they'll have a lot more varied palette in other areas. Look at Bloodborne itself, they only showed so little in the trailers and in the end it had so much variety.

It's because that one for Dark Souls 2 is one of the worst downgrades in recent times.

The downgrade for dark 2 was massive though; it was plainly obvious to everyone, even if you didn't mind it too much. (I didn't.) I didn't even realize there was any downgrade for Bloodborne; acting like they are the same thing is ridiculous.

There was probably 1 comment about downgrade in this thread before you began shitting up the thread.

Yep. This has Miyazaki written all over it. Seeing a giant skull emerging from the darkness, and wondering what does the rest of it look like, is one of those moments that ignite the imagination. It fills you with wonder and makes you feel like a kid again.

My god bring it 2 me....

The darkness is back, full on this time. I love DSII but this looks like it's really going to deliver the goods properly this time.

Dude, you're incredibly dense. Bloodborne was never downgraded and there exists no proof of it (actually there exists proof of a graphical upgrade though). If there was some form a downgrade you could have pointed it out already.

Just to be clear, you think this looks better than the final game:

Bloodborne looks amazing and runs great

Not even close to the level of disappointment from the Dark Souls 2 downgrade

i dont agree with you, the game has an awesome art design but the lack of AA, poor chromatic aberration and the struggle to keep 30 fps that is not look amazing and run great.

What's weird is that I think the game shown there (minus video compression) looks better than what we got.

Horrible video compression aside, yes.

I really, really, really, really, really, really, REALLY want to know what the official names of Skinny Knight and Fat Knight are.

They look AMAZING! It'd be cool if there are a whole bunch of knight-themed bosses.

Ornstein and Smough man.

just finished DS2 and it's DLC and replaying through DS now... SO HYPED for this

the people that shit on DS2 have no idea what they are talking about.. the reason it was "downgraded" is because the console hardware is shit. stop buying consoles please you are the problem. DS2 is a super high quality game

You're correct that it's "weird" because that video shows a much rougher game than what we got in the end.

That fucking...that fucking THING in that jail cell...oh god that made my heart skip a beat.

Also those two bosses look dope. It's like, hey remember how DS2 was all sorta tall knights in similar armor? WELL HOW YA LIKE THIS SHIT! THIS ONE HAS A MACE AND JUMPS AROUND LIKE A GOAT! THIS ONE'S MADE OUT OF GHOST AND SCREAMS AT YOU WITH A FLAME SWORD!

Like damn girl, I can only handle so much at once.

I'm Ready

GOTY 2016 Here I Come!

It'd be cool if there are a whole bunch of knight-themed bosses.

That's what Dark Souls 2 essentially was which became very repetitive.

Just lock Miyazaki in a room and let him do his thing and come up with sick twisted monstrosities none of us can even imagine.

The fuck.

Okay, that's cool. Think whatever you want. Next time don't bring this stuff up like it's fact.

I believe they've just been calling the "Skinny Knight" the dancer, don't think that's the actual name of course.

I assumed the skinny one was the Dancer boss they mentioned from the E3 preview.
You might be right. From IGN's E3 coverage:

"The boss at the end was called Dancer of the Frigid Valley, a huge, spindly, dancer-like creature that moved like smoke from a candle; a graceful but unpredictable rhythm. It reminded me a bit of Voldo from Soul Calibur, but instead of claws it wielded a long, narrow fire sword that set the boss room aflame with every swing."

Seems to match up, although IGN never mentioned any knight-like armor.
