"The Power of the Cloud" - what happened?

feels god really,if you think a video or a prealpha on a pc witha closed environment by ms ( the masters of spin) will change anything you are wrong

what its amazing is the people buying 20x the power of the one with this video

i will Guarantee you when this game got launched a lot of crow will be served, same happened with kinect, same will happen with hololens, its incredible how people of gaf believe anything sony or ms tell to them

Yeah, we need to start to believe in you instead right? Good god.

Given that Cloud computing is based on communication between computers, I'd say the bottleneck is people's Internet connections. They're all over the place in terms of speed based on the service provider, geographical location, house wiring and so on. That's no doubt had some effect on the lack of its widespread presence or at least I'd think so.

i'm sure the game will launch with none of this and this pre-alpha video is purely fluff.

so you are sure the game will be the same on the launch? because false demos or downgrades on pre alpha are a non existent thing

you really believe that your xbox one will be x20 more powerfull with the "cloud"?

Yeah, we need to start to believe in you instead right?

oh nono just wait to the released game

Oh no, you guys aren't trolling and bumped this thinking that by connecting to a server that your Xbone will be able to compute 20x what it normally can.

Hoooboy.

No, they are being "excited", only to piss on posts of people being more grounded with words like, "salty" and "reasons".

Fucks sakes transparent bumps were transparent, and the posse was ready to attack anyone disagreeing. It was a classic troll bump.

i will love to revisitid this thread when crackwdown 3 gets launch ,meanwhile you will get a lot of people posting that gif like is proving something

gaf never change pls

I thought you said you were taking a break.

dont worry i know you question was loaded with malice, sorry this is not more a tech discussion is just people in his console war, bailing out,we will see who is right when the game is released i will mark this post, love you all

That didn't last long, did it?

Dat call of the warrior.

Sigh, at least do it properly....

The cloud is real!!!

You did good son :)

You should take your own advice than.

Listen to yourself once in awhile :)

I'm not impressed by the gameplay: simple structures collapsing and creating hude debris.

Is this what 20x Xbox One's power can do?
I played RF: Guerrilla last gen on a 1/100 less powerful hardware.

yeah, guys, RFG is exactly the same.

No, they are being "excited", only to piss on posts of people being more grounded with words like, "salty" and "reasons".

Fucks sakes transparent bumps were transparent, and the posse was ready to attack anyone disagreeing. It was a classic troll bump.

We're a shameless, ostensibly clever bunch.

I saw those gifs and considering there's a whole generation of differences between them I keep thinking that it's not that impressive nor really new, does anybody remember the infamous levolution from battlefield?

The game looks from what I saw good in destruction but does not look that good even on the destruction side which is basically what they were showing right here.

Levolution was all pre-rendered by triggering a certain object in the environment. This is dynamic real-time destruction, where every single pixel on the screen reacts to damage.

The bump of this thread was not to cause excitement, it was to cause salt rubbing, and the like.

You act like we all didn't see the little conspire between the well known posters in the Crackdown thread as to who was gonna bump this, etc, lol.

OP asks what happened to MS' Power of the Cloud
Filled with comments about how it was PR bullshit in the first place
Game MS intends to use as a showcase for it's Cloud tech is revealed

But WE'RE the ones baiting now, huh?

The point of these kinds of bumps is to show how extreme posters can get with these types of issues and also to show how intellectually dishonest folk like you will show up to convince everyone there's nothing to be excited for yet, when we have very clear evidence of progress before us. But please, continue to spin the narrative that we're the aggressors.

I thought you said you were taking a break.

The call of the warrior.

on that thread? of course..this is other thread.."warrior"

You should take your own advice than.

no im giving an opinion like you

you got all the posters of the crackdown thread here dogpiling on anyone who is Sceptic about crazy pr statments ,as i said before this whole "THE CLOUD" thing is just another of their imaginary weapons on their console war

yadda yadda

excuse me ..you are one of the posters on KIA and one of the most prominents gamergaters i havent seen on twitter? just for curiosity

RF:Guerrilla did nothing of this magnitude... Whether you are impressed by the gameplay or not... The question of whether or not the cloud can provide additional computational power to a game, in real-time has been definitively answered...

Sure this game chose to use it for destruction... But this is just the beginning... Other developers could use this power In Different ways..

This.

But I still think we should wait till we actually can see how this plays out.

I'm not saying MS faked the demo, but this "cloud processing" thing being something so new there can be a lot of changes, and this cycle of post rubbing will never end XD

This thread was dead and buried. So to resurrect it with more pre-alpha footage is yes, necroing a thread to bait people into arguments that are divulging into "salt" and "reasons" (ironically when reasons are being provided).

You could not just continue that in the Gamescom thread? Now there is two threads arguing over the same shit. However like all of these necro threads of the past. This will get locked, because "reasons".

As for the bold part, it also shows how extreme people can be to hold onto their fanatical grudges, which always divulges into warz.

Concern trolling isn't a valid reason. Sorry.

so we shouldnt have an opinion on anything incase the opposite becomes true? it still stands that while this tech is impressive it isnt a solution for every game.

Guys "the power of the cloud" is just you connecting to a server that processes information and then is able to actually be in your game.

We've had "Cloud AI" for quite a while now and it is quite amazing that with Azure we are able to do things like some small physics here and there.

There is no way in hell a server is going to be processing 20x what your Xbone is doing and transmitting it to you.

The list of reasons of why this isn't feasible is too long to count.

This argument is stupid because we don't know what the game would look like without the cloud and we likely never will, so there's no point of reference

I have my own doubts about the cloud computing BS and how much benefit it actually provides but trying to talk about something I don't know well enough isn't going to do anything

and still the "warriors " dogpile on anyone who is sceptic

You were saying?

Seems like baiting to me with the cheerful glee.

Oh come on. The whole creation of this thread was baiting those who believed in what Microsoft was trying to accomplish.

Don't blame us when almost the entire thread ended up being proved wrong.

That's worth some gloating, I think.

hmmm

*looks down at your partner*

granted, it is funny to see pages full of people saying it was a buzzword, not real, a joke, etc. and now that's an actual video of it (pre-alpha sure), and people are still in denial about it. Not even mildly optimistic, but still straight out doubting it.

The RFG comparison gifs of a small outpost in a barren (Martian) wasteland is cute, I guess. Might as well post Crysis and Far Cry 2 gifs.

and still the "warriors " dogpile on anyone who is sceptic

To hold onto beliefs in the face of hard contradictory evidence isn't a sign of conviction.

They're obvioulsy just letting it do the physics calculation and then send the info back to the Xbox. They presented a prototype of this a while ago

Thereitis.gif? I'm still new so hopefully the point was made.

This demo looks awesome should it be on that scale. I mean wow that would be insane fun.

as cute and microsoft and their 20x the power one the xbox one

http://www.theverge.com/2015/8/4/8765897/crackdown-gameplay-announcement-news-xbox-one-gamescom

using the Xbox One's cloud computing solution. The trailer claims the service provides 20 times more power than Microsoft's current console.

why 20? why no HIPERSPATIAL X TRILLION ?

The thread was dead. The conversation could have stayed in the Gamescom thread, but no, you guys just had to ride out with a banner.

Nothings is proven wrong until a game is at retail, sorry.

The tech is real, the word is still a buzzword. And people are doubting the PR shit of 20x the power of one Xbox. When before it was infinite, then 100, then 10, now 20. Nobody is doubting the tech at all, it is nothing new, they are doubting its execution in real time since MSFT themselves have been delivering mixed messages and constantly correcting the "power of" PR talk.

Have you better arguments?

I've never said that they are the same but guerrilla was targeted to, according to MS claims, a two generations less powerful hardaware. (around 1/100x)

I can't see the stunning difference. Sorry. It's not about the scale of the destructible object but about the scale of the simulation.

What they have shown is not leaving me impressed.

Did I say no one should have an opinion? And who said this was a solution for every game?

I posted the GIFs of Microsoft's showcase cloud-powered game in a thread where people were claiming it was empty PR.

If posting material that validates the viability of cloud processing in games in a thread that contains tasteful rebuttals like "the cloud was empty PR" is wrong, then what do you consider right?

Because we're on the internet, suddenly the rules of debate no longer matter?

Being sceptical of Microsoft after the nonsense they came up with in terms of "power of the cloud! is not a bad thing. Too many people willing to take it as fact with no real world testing.

Considering the whole "power of the cloud" joke has been constantly thrown around in just about every single Microsoft/Xbox article for the past 2 years here on NeoGAF, I think bumping this thread was more than warranted.

Doesn't look 20x better than Red Faction Guerrilla's destruction, and that was a 360 generation game.

Of course it does... Are you out of you mind? How many chunks do you think are being tracked when 8 skyscrapers are being demolished simultaneously?
