Dark Souls 3 Trailer (Gamescom 2015)

The fuck

Sick of all this DS2 bashing. It's not Dks1, but its a fantastic game.
Eh, shitty hit detection, lock on attacks, cheap bosses, repeat "dude with big sword/club x4 or 5" bosses, shit enemy placement in Scholar specifically... There are many reasons why 1 is a superior game to 2. If someone hasn't played the first (the poster I replied to had not), I feel no inclination to recommend its inferior sequel.

I'm not sure how you can be a Souls fan and not like DS2. It has its flaws, but it does so many things right.

Since when?

The only boss that I found really bad was the Executioner's Chariot, and that wasn't cheap, the gimmick was just shit.

And if you bring up Smelter Demon I might burst into tears, because that guy was a total loser.

Cheap bosses? Sounds like you're just bad at the game.

Getting pissed myself at this negative DS2 crap. You're picking at straws. Does it have flaws? YES. Is it a bad game? NO IT'S NOT.

The Dark Souls II hate is absurd.

If anything too many of the bosses in the base game are free to a decently specced character. And thats before you use the mace, the single player killer.

I didn't know you need to like DS2 to be considered a Souls fan
Ding ding ding. I imported the Korean version of Demons Souls for PS3, double dipped when it came to the States, double dipped on Dark Souls 1 (PS3 and PC), and even double dipped on Dark Souls 2 (PS3 and PC), along with my purchase of Bloodborne (preordered since it was announced). Not sure why stating that the sequel is disappointing means I'm not a Souls fan. Doesn't make me any less hyped for Dark Souls 3. Preordering as soon as I can.
I never said that Dark 2 is a bad game, only that it pales in comparison to the first. The game has a pretty far way to fall from being as good as DS1, which is sublime, to being a "bad" game. Pointing out a game's flaws doesn't mean that I didn't have fun with it. I dumped 300+ hours into Dark Souls 2. It had the best built in PVP systems yet (albeit with the poorest soul memory implementation). Rat bros until the day I die.

I just don't see how you couldn't. It's that not different pal. Because DS2 is very unforgiving in the beginning, I have a hunch that, in reality, you got rekt and hate the game because it's unfair. That's the usual excuse.

Many of the great bosses in the series fall under that catergory. Its usally the crazy looking shit like Gaping Dragon or The One Reborn that are shit. Its pretty much giant dudes (S&O, Artorias, Alonne, Fume, Allant, Ivory King, Logarius) or surprisingly agile four legged creatures (Watchdog, Kalameet, Sinh, Guardian)

Oh. My.

Looks like Bloodborne but with shiny armor...which is AWESOME.

So coming off Bloodborne Platinum and having never played a DS game before; do I try my hand at Scholar of the First Sin while waiting for this? Or just hold out completely till DS3 drops next year...

Play Dark Souls 1 before Dark Souls 2. Dark Souls 2 is the slowest game in the series.

User name should be SourGrapes. One doesn't have to have gotten rekt to point out obvious flaws in the game. What a horseshit callout.

dem monster designs... totally amazing stuff. how do they do it?

i was feeling "Souls fatigue" a bit with DSII and even Bloodborne at first, but now i'm fully hyped i think.

I tell you this.
Everyone has their own opinions about the game. If you like it, good for you and i am happy you enjoy it. Me? I don't like it because level design/AGL att/Soul Memory. Played it 2 times (vanilla and SoTFS) and i still don't like it.

You must've got rekt a couple of times to think that the bosses are cheap.
Sure thing bud.

Should have picked a different word. But sure. Ignore all of the other valid criticism I levied at the game to besmirch the skill of the player. After all, DS2 was perfect, with absolutely no flaws whatsoever. Any complaint can surely be remedied with a few healthy doses of "git gud."

Edit: enough of this nonsense. This whole debate began because I had the sheer audacity to recommend one of the best games of the decade over its less awesome heir. We have differing opinions. I welcome further instructuons on how to git gud and avoid getting shrekt via PM. Enough of this derail.

Fair enough, but please stop shitting on DS2.

Can't wait, I just really really hope there's some variety to the environments.

I mean anor londo, the dragon area in DS2, the Painted world, etc I love.

I'd like to see them try some more rural'ish looking area's, woodlands/valleys, get a bit away from just decrepit looking cities.

Do you own a farm?

Because that's one hell of a straw man you've got there.

Please show me where i shit the game. I didn't say i hate it, just my opinions about it. And you can't stop people shitting on it just because you and some people like it. After all, this is a gaming forum, everyone has their rights to post what they have in mind.

dark souls 2 is hated? It's the highest rated game in the souls series...

Browse GAF for five minutes and tell me this isn't true.

"Dark Souls II is better than Dark Souls I in some areas and worse in others.

Worst game of all time."

Try and tell me with a straight face you haven't read that four hundred times verbatim.

Only in some respects.
Actually we can't, because there's a lot of things about Dark Souls 2 that are better than 1.

Combat and atmosphere surely isn't one of them judging by my experience with the game.
Dark Souls 2 has an improved netcode and a better PC port. That's all it does better in my opinion.

I got so turned off by the sluggish feel of the game I didn't bother playing further than the forest.
Dark Souls on the other hand was a one-in-a-decade-phenomena experience for me where I invested hundreds of hours and unlocked the platinum trophy.

I see that some people even like DS2 more than the original and I can only explain it to myself by thinking that they like the Souls games for different reasons than I do.

What makes me so excited about Dark Souls 3 is that Miyazaki is back at directing the game and from the looks of it it's going to be more in vain of the original Dark Souls and what I like about the series.

The weapons and gear customization are far superior in DS2. I still prefer DS1 if I were stranded on a desert island.

Better pvp, build variety and convenants. Superb DLC (AotA is great but not as good as all three put together). Simplified weapon upgrading. Power stancing. Improved bow mechanics. Lots of little UI improvements (multisoul popping is godly coming back from BB). The small white soapstone.

Larger variety on color and environments even if they didn't fit together well, it increased my enjoyment of the game.

I'd love it if they baited you into thinking it was an NPC. And then just when you get close enough to start talking to it, it squashes you and kills you in one hit :P
Better yet, how about you approach the skeleton, thinking it's an NPC. And it starts talking to you.

Skeleton: "Dost thou want to learneth the secret history of the world?"

Choice: "Yes" / "No"

Player chooses "Yes."

Skeleton: "Well... fuck you."

*slams hand on player*

THANKS OBAMA

*player respawns, tries again, chooses "No" this time*

Skeleton: "How cheeky."

*slams hand on player*

CHEEKY DEATH

Considering the run away success the Souls series has enjoyed on PC, I'd be extremely surprised if it doesn't launch with the console versions.

Considering how many people double-dipped on DkS2 with only a month in between versions, I can think of a pretty good reason why Namco would launch it on PC later.

That said, there isn't going to be a major graphical disparity between consoles and PC at launch this time around, so you have to hope that they wouldn't pull a scumbag move just for the sake of raking in some extra sales. Heh.

I don't get the DS2 hate either. While I think DS1 is a better game, I enjoyed DS2 more.

As for DS3, I am very pleased to try out the new, faster gameplay. Not being able to play Bloodborne (but very jealous of those with a PS4), I was hoping that this would transfer over to the next one. Glad to see that's the way it looks.

I will say that generally speaking, one's first Souls game is the one that person holds the dearest. In my case, that was Dark Souls 1, so of course I'm going to be very strict with Dark Souls 2 and its flaws. It can be the other way around, though.

Actually, I'd love to see if the first Souls game played moderates these preferences in some way.

Im guessing the doubledip mostly happened for SotFS DX11.
