Final Fantasy XV 'Dawn' trailer

Compare this trailer to the most recent KH3 one. That one got me excited and I don't even care about KH. Does FFXV team actually have content done?

Hair is the biggest giveaway that this isn't CGI.

The technology remains incredible. The music remains incredible. But have no doubt: that was a teaser trailer rather than an actual trailer. Having played a demo for the game, we're beyond teaser trailers at this point. I'm just glad we have an Active Time Report to look forward to.

I'm not sure how some people are complaining about the graphics. As far as I'm concerned, it's competing as one of the best-looking multiplatform games revealed so far.

It's not that it's a story scene, it's just a weirdly paced and presented trailer. There's one line, but it's still not voiced (apparently). After an initial scene of action, the rest of the trailer is just one very long cut of a scene with practically zero context. It's beautifully animated but as a standalone trailer it's pretty empty.

I don't know, seemed pretty well done to me. Shit starts off hitting the fan, you get the notion things will not play out well. It drops the line about the son having to bare the ultimate destiny, and then the dad crying over it. Presumably knowing his death will come, and that his son will have to be the one to deal with whatever follows. To me it was surprisingly refreshing as far as video game trailers go. Sort of glad they had the confidence to release it, which in itself gives me confidence that the game should have some emotional weight and narrative poignancy to it.

Random Extrapolation: Some supernatural force
(fal'Cie)
picks someone of royal blood to be a representative
(l'Cie)
or something which gives them and their country power, but the person who is picked ends up screwed over in some way in the end
(they turn into a crystal statue)
. The two in the running for it were Luna and Noctis as they're both of royal blood. Luna's dad is a power hungry prick and when it was decided that she wasn't chosen he lashes out at her. When Noctis's father discovers that he was chosen, he knows that he doesn't have the power to change it, so he just holds him and feels sad.

I haven't liked anything related to FFXV from a while, and after finishing the demo I have even started to dislike the game. Now this, OK.

With XIII I was at least hyped even if the final product ended up being underwhelming.

We saw a dog and a old guy holding a sleepy kid for more than half of the trailer...

Totally worth the wait.

Yes I have played the demo. I was referring to this trailer specifically, not other stuff that we've seen from the game.

Fair enough. I think the animations in the trailer were very good. Particulalry between the king and his son. However, it went on too long and it is a difficult scene to portray given they are going for subtlety. I think they did well though in that regard. The game looks stunning, up there with the best.

The king looks pretty different now. I like the change.

I'm not against full story-based trailers, but they need to have more than what was shown here.

Exactly. I liked what they were going for with the subdued, emotional and slow-paced moment. It's a surprisingly delicately paced scene considering most games that have these kinds of scenes just gloss over them.

The issue was that there was no context for you to fully appreciate it. Slow scenes just don't make good trailers, whether it's a commercial for a TV show, a game trailer, or a movie trailer.

From the other thread:
In one word "meh"

+ good music
+ little more of Luna it seems and summons or gods or whatever that were in the sky
- all that time of Regis just holding Noctis
- No release date/window/year

Also RIP Stella, and OG Regis? I really dislike that new design
I still think he will look the same when the story starts at the present time

Edit:
I forgot
That we had already seen Regis when noctis was a kid back in the E3 2012 trailer and he looked nothing like this one so yeah RIP original Regis T__T

I don't like the new character design for the father figure, the previous one was much better.

Why

Wow. I really want Nomura's Versus 13.

The royal family dressed in modern day suits, the royalty being like the mafia, contrasted by enemies wearing incredibly simplified armour...A city exactly replicating a blackened Japanese city....A so called "love story" that involves both parties being forced to try to murder each other...All major reasons why I was so obsessed with a world I barely knew anything about.

All gone.

I'm now worried about FFVII remake following the same path as FFXV... being revealed but then 10 years later and the game still hasn't come out followed by one 3 minute long trailer every year...

He's 20 years younger or whatever.

Noctis is about the same age (maybe a few years older) in the dining scene, and Regis is completely different looking.

That can't be him unless they scrapped his previous design, which I wouldn't be surprised of since they redesigned Stella / Luna too.

Too dark for a mainline Final Fantasy.

If this was still a spin-off (Versus 13), then yea I can see them do it, especially since V13 was supposed to be a more darker story.

Would be interesting though to have a heroine with that sort of background. However yea I can't see them doing it as it would be super dark.

Here comes the second part of why I hate this fandom. ITT DAE think Tabata ruined lord and savior Nomura's guaranteed masterpiece?

This trailer made zero sense and was not appropriate in hyping me up and selling pre-orders.
