Final Fantasy XV 'Dawn' trailer

Maybe the real father of Noctis (who happens to be a soldier from Nifelheim, if he was the one abusing Luna) had to give him up to the king of Lucis because he was "chosen" over the daughter?

That's how I'm interpreting this trailer, at least. I don't want to stir up a shitstorm when Regis can be seen in the 2014 trailers

It's possible that he's a different person, but whoever was towering over Luna didn't look like a Niflheim soldier, their emblem is different. More likely her relative / someone else from Tenebrae kingdom (it would be the first time seeing their emblem).

I'm also wondering why Insomnia wasn't built in this trailer yet, it was clearly empty and incomplete. And his car definitely doesn't look like a soldier's car unless he stole it.

I personally think the scenario is smething like this:

1) Regis was redesigned, which I accept
2) He is a wealthy or powerful man who ran away from Niflheim (or somewhere else) with his son, and used the power of a crystal (stolen, inherited?) to create Lucis, which we are seeing in this trailer

But anyway it's just too confusing, Tabata better clear shit up in ATR.

Tabata already said they changed literally everything about the character to the point where it wasn't Stella. Stella was a warrior with powers. Luna is, from what i'm seeing here, the absolute opposite of that with no power, or much strength. Stella was supposed to meet Noctis at a party where they struck up a relationship in secret even though their countries were at war. Luna is already betrothed to Noctis apparently.

Its all different, the game, the story and the feel.

Is all that seriously gone? Hot damn I wanted to know what happens next too! :(

I don't know why people have ANY hopes for the ATR.
It's a marketing gimmick designed to pretend the devs care about talking to fans.
They don't.

Even FF14 team that pioneered the Live Letters for Square don't care.
All Live Letters are these days are 2 hours of wincing at the PR department behind the camera and giving marketing pushes for products.

People don't care about the devs either, they care about new footage :P

Japanese trailer doesn't have VA either... This game won't be released anytime soon if they still haven't recorded VA for trailers....

It's more like incompetence to me. Every Witcher 3 trailer was dubbed from the beginning (or most videogames I've seen in my life through trailers I might add). These people (S-E) are retards.

This guy?

FFXV_Unknown_Old_Man.png

Now someone needs to put a beard on him and make him look sad.

It says "The father could but hold him and mourn his destiny."
If that's his grandpa then this trailer is even more stupid than it seems to be right now.

"Fate would fall to the father and son of Lucis".

What does this line mean then?

I'm so confused, maybe SE fucked up using Google translate or something?

Almost all the English in this trailer was awkwardly worded :/

I feel like this is an unfair characterization of the disappointment some people have. Trying to be emotional doesn't automatically make something good; there's plenty else that can go wrong.

Yep like the cookie cutter editing, waxy looking skin on the man holding Noctis, the lighting in that entire scene was washed, young Luna's hair looks like a wig, no exposition to really make the players know what the story is or what kind of world we'll be going into, and no release date. The two lines of dialogue that's in the trailer aren't even voiced and there is no real character interaction so we can get a feel of who these people are.

No gameplay aside, shit was unwashed booty cheeks.

I can't believe the negativity surrounding this trailer. How can you see a scene of a father embracing his child clearly in anticipation of some sort of goodbye and not feel moved at all? Especially when the child is unbelievably adorable. How can you see a young girl terrified after getting slapped and not empathize? You'd have to be either extremely jaded or callous.

I get it if the trailer isn't what you were expecting or whatever but what we got was a story trailer rife with emotional resonance and character motivation and that is far more exciting to me than another gameplay trailer.

You can't trust Tabata with anything without him screwing it up somehow. After Genesis in CC, the clusterfuck that is Type-0 and what we have seen of XV until now, Toriyama's place at the top of the hacks tower in S-E is not safe anymore.

The facial animations and skin rendering look fantastic imo. Totally looks like the skin is actually a soft, realistic, additional tissue layer, instead of just a texture applied to a model.

Yeah, def. That and the music were the highlight of the trailer.

I agree with Jarmel about the lack of context and narrative, I think this is pretty much my issue with the last few trailers we've had.

Because we don't have proper context of the scene. We also really don't know the characters.

I was going to say "I can see that" but then it was confirmed it was Regis.

Thought it'd be an interesting thing like Noctis is from a different country but "chosen" by whatever and had to be given away and his birth father who is the leader of another country doesn't like that so ends up plotting for years to get his son back some how which would lead to that bit where they all pull guns and swords and magic crystal swords on each other. But Noctis is all "You're not my real dad! You killed my dad!" and runs away/flees the city getting invaded.

We need someone to translate the details on the Dengeki site ASAP!

Hey i'm with you, i liked this trailer, but people have the right to say they don't really feel something for these characters since there's basically no context for their actions in this trailer.

I just hope it is something new and not just the demo. I have the demo.

=P, it was a joke mostly. The 17 hours is just Youtubers playing the demo on stage.

Hopefully they will be showing more on the ATR itself... Or at least I hope so, they don't have much to talk about with this trailer.

It WAS cute. It also lasted a good 30 seconds longer than it had to.

Because both of these scenes lack context and we know absolutely next to nothing about these characters. What's motivating these characters? Why is the character saying goodbye to his son, these are unanswered questions that would elevate the scene way more than the overdone sad music. People are not against emotional trailers, people need context, you can't have a scene where Sully says goodbye to Boo without context.

It's a cool trailer, but almost nothing happens.

No release date
No gameplay
Too long the same scene, yes this scene would be really good in the game but as a trailer meh.
Best part was the beginning imo.
Also when the trailer ends I had had the feeling it just began.

This is fine and all except it was the majority of the trailer. That went on far too long. It literally just hung on him for the longest time with nothing happening. People aren't against emotional value, but there's little context here and the trailer was boring because it lacked that context and instead just showed lingering and I mean lingering imagery that tells us very little.

Stella was the only reason I was interested in the first place. So shitty how they replaced her with someone like Luna.

Because images and concepts on their own don't automatically make something good? Is Gears of War's "where's my wife" stuff automatically good because the idea of someone looking for their wife is sad?

I guess we'll see. There have been some fairly substantial and exciting bits dropped during previous ATR and stage demos, though.

Certainly, the primary objective of the ATR and Live Letters are PR, but I don't think PR excludes communication with the consumer here; I mean, really, effective PR and consumer communication are one and the same. Credit where it's due, SE has been doing significantly better in that regard since Wada's demotion.

I didn't know It had changed this much :(((

ahh the old story sounds so awesome :/

Quoted for truth. The dream is dead.

Yeah. Luna is far from what i saw in Stella. A strong female heroine/antagonist that wasn't annoying and actually had somewhat of a unique role in the game. You don't usually see heroines so proactive as well as on the opposite side of the protagonist, actually fighting against them that much. Of course that's future is done with.

It seems the same befell Noctis's father as well.

To be honest, i don't really care if things have changed from Versus. Nomura is no longer on the project, its been years since that ship sailed. I've gotten past that.

All i want now is a good game to come out of all this bullshit, but i'm really irritated at how they are just giving us these no context trailers with hardly anything to go on.

Just give me a real trailer with gameplay and some real scenes that don't consist of hugging for more than half the thing
