Final Fantasy XV 'Dawn' trailer

Anyone else thinks they're focusing on the father/son relationship to appeal to their demographics? When VsXIII was first announced a lot of us were teenagers but now some of us have become fathers ourselves.

Doubt they even care about that to be honest...

Honestly expected more.

Onwards to TGS, then.

What they decided to show in the trailer was unexpected. I have more enthusiasm toward the game now, seeing that there is depth of emotions.

Dengeki Online confirmed that it was Regis. They redesigned him for whatever reason.
Because redesigning the appearance of a character is easier than making an actual game.

Tabata is showing himself to be no less Wizard of Oz than Nomura.

How did such a manly Liam Neeson king make a Korean pop prince?

Whatever. Trailer is nice and all but ffs we've reached the point I want a release date not more ambiguous trailers.

Honestly on the second watching I skipped a lot of the hugging scene and it's not a bad trailer. Not what we may have been expecting or wanting but not bad. The alarm and buzzing at the end definitely suggests something is coming ('awakening' or something like that)

I have to believe that people who think this trailer is a good trailer are deluded. Even without the context that it doesn't show a release date, it's not much considering how long it's been since it's reannouncement, and how much we've seen from other SE titles. This is not even hilarious levels of pisspoor. It's sort of offensive actually.

This is basically how I felt.

I mean, sure, I'd love a goosebumps-inducing rapid cut between a ton of huge setpieces and characters yelling dramatic lines at each other or whatever, but this feels like a good grounded way to show some elements of character backstory in the game.

The problem is neither the scene nor the trailer was well-directed, so you were basically left with something that came across as dull despite well-animated characters, good music, and concept art.

If Kojima, Nomura, Takahashi, Ueda, Sakurai, Suda 51, Mikami, or Kamiya were producing/directing the same scene or cutting a trailer with the same couple scenes to use as a base, it would have been much more impressive and heartfelt.

Way too old.

Hahah I don't think there's been a trailer recently that merits the "lookit'snothing" gif more than this.
I learned a lot about the world from this trailer. So it wasn't pointless for me. I like the context it established. I also haven't been scavenging the dark depths of the Internet for every small detail on this game the past eight years. So I can understand why some of you hate it.

I don't see any mention he was redesigned though.

And the theme seems to be "An Unbreakable Bond"... So I guess it's about a father-son relationship
and the father will probably die in the end and the ending will be all like FFX feels.

You know, Regis could have had a make-over 15 years after. AFAIK in the Jump Festa (2014) trailer, he looked like this:

It will be kinda odd if they suddenly changed his look in less than a year (or even 9-10 months apart).

My optimistic side tells me that Regis simply cleans himself up, making him look fresher after 15 years. Heck, Noctis is obviously older in the soup scene, so that could be the I-left-my-sword-swinging-days-behind-to-become-a-boss Regis.

My pessimistic side fears that they have altered the story to make Regis die in a three-way giant monsters freak incident long before the story begins.

My wacky theorist side is convinced that the child is actually a Kid Regis.

That or he comes back evil after being brainwashed by Grumpy Not!Kefka.

Pretty sure he will die well before the end.

how can it be that each new reveal relating to this game (demo included) makes me even less & less interested in it? what've they done to this series? :( ...

My biggest gripe (next to the terrible Regis redesign) is how 'wasteful' the trailer is. Instead of showing us seperate scenes of Luna being attacked by (her father?) and Regis holding Noctis this could have happened simultaneously with a split screen. On the left you see Noctis and dad hugging each other while at the same time you see Luna being assaulted by her dad. Then fade to Regis and those three giant things.

Brings across the point just as well and saves time which you can fill with something else or just cuts down the length of the trailer which also wouldn't have been bad in this case.

Ok Uwe Boll, the trailer is fine without re-editing it with split screens just to make it shorter lol.

They skipped E3... For that?

Oh well. Guess we gotta wait until TGS to see anything new.

LOLOLOLOL

Square-Enix is truly garbage when it comes to handling this game.
