Mad Max 14min of Gameplay

Pop ins and stuff... are people going to make the same complains with Metal Gear? because there are a lot of things in there too and none seems to be bothered.

I'll get both games.

Yes MGS also has pop-in issues which i said before, but this is far more aggresive and more noticable becaues it's such a flat barren wasteland. MGS is very uneven with rocks, boulders and other bits of foliage that are always in view.

Best Buy giving out 10$ coupons for pre-ordering MM, combined with the 20% GCU discount is tempting.I kinda like what I'm seeing, but eh, I think I'd rather wait for reviews and player impressions. Got plenty of open world games to play at the moment anyway, and TPP is on my pre-order list already.

As already stated before, performance on this PS4 version seemed a bit questionable. I have to wonder if it would be safer to go with the Xbox One version over the PS4 version if given the choice.

...I like this assumption that the Xbox version somehow runs better. If performance worries you, I'd recommend waiting for a comparison / tech analysis. Digital Foundry and the likes are usually extremely fast with these.

Why should the Xbox One Version run better ?

Also, this a stream capture.

First impression, seems they changed the colour palette a little?

Looks good overall, the lack of real car damage is probably the most disappointing aspect and the fury mode effect is distracting too.

If by "Xbox One" you mean "high end PC" then yes.

I'm getting this over MGSV so hoping the PC version runs well. That said I'm liking the gameplay and hoping the pop-in issues are from being on consoles.

I'm not sold quite yet. I've seen most of this gameplay before (car stuff is fun though) so I really hope the story and characters give me a good reason to spend time in this open world.

Well from the look of it, the game is pretty fun, the Hand to Hand Combat is pretty brutal and the Car Combat and Customization seems to be pretty big, but I'm a bit worried, I want to see a Segmented Demo, Large scale car combat, followed by hand to hand combat against more than 3 enemies, and a small bit of the story.

I intend to buy the game, but I fear that critically and commercially it won't do good.

Looking pretty good IMO

Doesnt look like it reinvents the wheel but definitely looks fun.

Happy to see Warner Bros pushing sandobox games in the direction Ubisoft is unable and unwilling to go. Between Mordor, Arkham Knight and Mad Max they are building a pretty good line up.
Now they only need to start patching their games, and tone down the mischievousness they have shown with their season pass policies.

That's major pop in. Also looks quite scarred from it basically being cross gen. I like the style but I will have to consider reviews.

It was pretty responsive, although the car combat took some time to get used to, since IIRC, you are aiming with L2 and shooting with circle.

Oof, I hope that's customisable.

Thanks for the impressions though. One last thing, how was the combat? Closer to Arkham or Mordor?

I don't know what to think.

I love the IP and I'm very thirsty for more Mad Max after Fury Road. Game looks like it could be fun.

But...that damn map marker chase gameplay. Killed Black Flag and Shadow of Mordor for me. I'm afraid this is going to be just like those two. Great fun for a couple hours and then boredom and either quitting the game or completing it as a chore.

This is waaayy better than their e3 showing. I still think they could come up with a better speaker to present but at least the footage was cool.

All those icons on the map are a bit scary, but I don't really care since the moment to moment combat (in VHC and on foot) look very fun, so if the RPG customisation is there too I know I'll have a blast.

Looks awesome.

Shame it's coming out on the same day as MGS V, as I want to play that more I think.

AHHHH, and the blu ray for Fury Road comes out that day. Gonna drop like $150 in one day on entertainment.

It looks like a lot of fun, but the pop in is extremely apparent and distracting. I hope they reduce it before the final release.

Every single game has Pop in.
If it's limited to just clumps of grass with pop in, i think i'll survive.

*spits on ground*
You will not survive in the wasteland if you're worried about grass in Mad Max.
*starts V8*

lol :p

So? Procedural or manual, it's all the same: a variable that indicates the radius distance where clutter is drawn.

They manually create the assets, but use code to procedurally create the terrain and place the assets on the terrain. The terrain is generated around you in real time as you travel similar to No Man's Sky.

Strangely one of my most anticipated PS4 games... This game looks really fun to me!! I miss the old days when car combat was a genre.

It also reminds me of Rage. And yep, I enjoyed Rage.

OT, and please mock me mercilessly if this is or has been obvious for a while, but:

since when has YouTube started putting ads in random parts of a fucking video?

I have only started noticing this bullshit this week. :/

The explosions are fantastic.

I would like this game to have two things:

1) Nemesis system from Shadow of Mordor.

2) Some advanced climbing system for when you take on big convoys, to simulate scenes in Fury Road, where people fight on the back of the huge semi, trying to push others off, and climbing back on, and jumping from car to car etc.

I figure repetitiveness will be the biggest problem, since the MM world doesn't offer a lot of variety (everything has to be desert, more or less) in terms of weapons, scenery or vehicles.
