Life is Strange | Spoiler Thread

I think LiS has been a lot bigger of a production than Telltale games have been, where Telltale can crank out like a couple series a year, this seems to have taken some more development time. Dontnod has some other stuff in the works but I'd love for them to do more with LiS or anything else with the episodic format.

oh, I mean in fame, not development time or quality.

Oh, alright, hopefully the do, although Telltale makes a lot more with popular brands. I thought you meant they'd overtake that spot of having a series or so out a year, looking back on it idk why I thought you meant that, hopefully you get where I'm coming from.

Look, none of you nailed it in regards to the last song for the last scene of the last episode last page.

It's clearly gotta be Mogwai's Kids Will Be Skeletons. That is GOAT ender.

I bet that by the end of Episode 1, no one imagined we would feel this way and the season would take this direction.

The supernatural/natural horror twist was very obvious in the first episode after we got to know the characters. I believed LiS would take a turn towards Twin Peaks/X-Files, but it took a more sinister form
(8MM, Stieg Larsson's Millennium trilogy)
- which I also love.

but it's been used...

fidn the one song that hasn't, and you've got it

or they put In my Mind as the ender

Man.. Just finished Ep. 4. I had plan to play through 1-4 in a span of a couple days but I was exhausted after each episode that it took me about a week to finish. The beginning of Ep. 4 was probably one of the most depressing/bittersweet things I've experienced all year.

The party scene at the end reminded me of the end of Mass Effect 3, before the final mission where you get to talk to all your party members. Jefferson being up to no good was surprising and not at the same time. The game kept pointing you at David and Nathan so much that it was too obvious. Nathan is still involved considering the bomb shelter. Guessing maybe blackmail is involved, or they're both crazed.

One thing that bugged me, that I don't think they explained. I may be wrong, but when Max returned to the normal timeline, she found out that things progressed and that the Max in the regular timeline was living life, but she just doesn't remember anything that happened while she was in the alternate timeline. I figured, the Max in the regular timeline would've kept writing in her journal about things that happened and the progress of the investigation. But, when I checked, it was just about Rachel/Frank stuff and then a jump to the alt timeline events.

I'm really enjoying the ride. This is up there with the first season of Telltale's TWD for me.

Only speculation I have for Ep.5 is
that we find out the homeless woman behind the diner is god. :D

so excuse me for not reading the whole thread, so it was probably already suggested.
But does anyone else think that pic Max took with Warren before entering the party will be a point of return for Max like it was the first time around she went way back in time?

Yeah, it's been brought up and could be valid.

Episode 4. That was a serious emotional roller coaster of an episode. After the end of 3 I figured they'd pull the old reverso super quick, so I was kind of surprised and rather impressed that they let you ride out that entire section even though as soon as Chloe asked me to fetch her medication I knew how it was going to play out. Going upstairs and wandering into Chloe's old Bedroom and just sitting down was both beautiful and poignant.

The investigation stuff was cool, bar the scene with Frank, which was a bit cumbersome due to having to rewind so far back through the conversation a few times.

The Barn/bunker section was suitably Grimdark. I half expected with the security door to find that Rachel and maybe some others were being kept captive down there so it was kind of a relief to find out that wasn't the case, though I felt bad for Chloe finding out that her friend was dead.

It should of been obvious when looking at the picture of Rachel and Nathan that there was another party involved in matters, but of course you get pulled into the moment and logical deduction goes out the window.

Needless to say the ending took me by surprise, not such much in how it played out but who was behind it so I'm suitably hyped for the finale.

I did wonder whether I'd messed up though with regard to the photo contest? I got berated a few times for not submitting a picture and I kept thinking whether I'd missed a beat in a previous episode to actually hand in a shot. The photo of the transport Truck you can take near the two whales seemed like an obvious candidate for 'everyday hero'.

As much as I want Max to fulfill her photography potential in the Everyday Heroes contest, I don't think it's of best interest at the moment. Lord knows you don't want to go to SanFran with ol' Jeff at this point.

I was wondering if anywhere in this thread has Max's voice change during the party been addressed?
Her voice is higher in pitch, and was mentioned during conversation by an NPC as being odd (it's not a glitch)... Any theories?

probably sounding intense becasue so much is going on. also the fact that parties are loud and she has to "yell" above the music. it's common for voices to change like that

Yeah I think it's because she's yelling over the music. If you watch a playthrough with music on low volume it's pretty jarring.

Just finished GoT episode 5. Life is Strange is a full order better than what TT is currently putting out. Studio should have a very bright future.

I think the issue with Telltale is that no one's come along in a while and tried to punch them in the face.

Of course, Life is Strange did that, then rewound and did it again.

Telltale IMO has better "writing" but personally I don't really remember a lot of their games aside from some of TWD Season 1 and Tales from the Borderlands.

I remember everything about each LiS episode and I've only played each episode once, which says a lot about the characters and world building.

IMO Telltale games after the Walking Dead season 1 it feels like they are just checking off boxes. Their games are entertaining but kind of shallow once you get past the surface. The current exception is Tales from the Borderlands which is genuinely hilarious and has a bit more care put into it I think.

Life is Strange has some pretty great depth if you get into it. The flowchart that shows the outcomes for the conversation with Frank is a prime example.

Agreed. Season 2 of TWD was all over the shop and albeit I've enjoyed GOT, given the choice of playing the latest episode of that versus playing the lastest episode of LiS last night it wasn't even a close call. I dare say I'll get into GoT this weekend, but I'm not 'OMG have to play it now' about it.

SE and Dontnod really pulled the rug out from under Telltale with LiS. The TT games feel kind of clumsy in comparison. Also LiS using Unreal as their engine was a superb decision. Hopefully Telltale will get their act together with their next crop of games, and mayhap announce TWAU season 2 whilst they are at it.

TWD S2 felt like a COD game post MW to me, where shit just happened for the sake of 'OMG! COOL SHIT AHEAD!' and a lot of it came out of nowhere, made little sense instead of just trying for shock value. Not only that, Telltale's games have little in terms of exploration and world building which should help players lead to better choices down the line in various ways. This is probably something that's going to pop up in Minecraft: The Story where people will ask 'where's the exploration?' when it's a series based on exploration.

Walking Dead had better dialog, but I'd give the edge to Life is Strange in character development and storytelling and gameplay.

Months ago I saw some supposedly leaked info about EP5, that it would include the actual contest in San Francisco with Mr. Jefferson. I didn't believe it at the time, but it's even more hilarious after EP4's ending.

Supposedly the choices list leaked months ago and theyve all been right so far. So who knows?
iirc only the choices up to episode 3 were leaked, I remember the kiss Chloe choice being among them but nothing from episode 4.
I also remember seeing an early version of the episode 5 preview that was in the episode 2 or episode 3 files, some people wrote it off as them using Jefferson's model as a placeholder.
Sad thing is that I didn't actively look for spoilers, it was just hard to avoid them.

I don't know what it is for me but I prefer the writing in this game. It feels like the game's heart is in the right place and the characters feel a lot more genuine than those in Telltale so yeah the writing is kind of cheesy but I love it.

I think Telltale has better dialogue, but the story overall is better and more well written in Life is Strange, in my opinion.

Yep, that's my opinion too. Telltale's dialogue, at least from the games I've played, is stellar. Even the ones I didn't like that much.

The current season of Life is Strange has been more enthralling then all of Telltale's stories to me so far.

I think the last episode of The Walking Dead season two came close though

The weird thing I found with episode 4 was that beyond the scene with Frank, the padlock puzzle and Alyssa? I pretty much didn't rewind versus just roll with the dialogue choices as they played out.

There didn't really seem to be much incentive to do so really. The episode is longer but goes to more areas and is thus a lot more linear than the rest.

I used it a lot trying to crack Nathan's phone. I spent like 20 minutes trying to figure out the code before I found out I could reset the sim card.

Reading David's reports has been one of the most funniest parts of the game so far.
Typing this post took a little longer than normal. DRUGS?

Soooo...anyone else feeling like Nathan probably is no more?

That "text" from Nathan at the end totally wasn't him. :/

I kind of feel bad for him in a way. He obviously got in way over his head. I feel like they never meant to kill anyone but Rachel was an accident and they've been covering it up since, and it was affecting Nathan pretty bad ("Rachel in the dark room" over and over). Obviously they're both scum, but I don't think they were killing anyone.

I'm guessing Nathan finally flipped out completely when he found out that Max was searching his room and told Jefferson and he's probably dead now. :/

I don't think he's dead. I think he will be in the first scene where Max has to escape the dark room and maybe you can convince him to help you, which, like Frank and Victoria this episode, will be affected by your choices (blaming him, letting Warren beat the snot out of him, etc) since he obviously feels some guilt over what's been happening.

Ohh. Actually, this is probably right haha.

I just feel like he's probably not on Jefferson's side at this point. Guess we'll see though. But you're right. If he's not dead, it will be a convince him to help (and if he doesn't, then David comes in?).

Jefferson would probably commit suicide before killing Nathan. With how powerful the Prescotts are, there's no way Jefferson could get away with it.

Unless he could frame someone for it . . .
