There are people who think like this.

The classic example is Leo in Xrd, he has big buttons and you don't need to know a lot of the finer points of the game to get wins with him.

Yes, I play Leo

Right now I main Faust in xrd but thought about learning some Leo or bedman as a secondary.

Really want my dude anji mito back.

Very true. Gouken just doesn't have much that Hugo is scared of on wakeup. But the HP difference will give you a buffer zone that can help make up for that.

Yes, but Gouken doesn't care about Hugos wakeup, he's just going to keep him fullscreen for eternity.

What makes akihiko scary? Is it frame traps?

Too much damage. If that thing is anywhere near you, you're playing RPS for your life. I'd rather deal with a fully loaded grappler in my face than Aki in my face with 50 meter. You're dealing with a type of mix up where you are forced to guess something other than block, and Aki will get 70% easily if he hits you with some meter in that situation. If you guess really wrong he might actually just kill you. The best part part is he can decide to use OMB on you and it's unburstable at that point.

Elphelt ranked so high by Dogura, but in Mikado footage she just gets owned constantly. Especially by Faust and Leo players. People are still feeling the mental scar of previously uninterruptible grenade I guess.
I miss being able to win matches against a lot of the cast with just jab and DP :-(
You can still do that.

I play Leo as well. Anime players love pressing buttons, Leo loves punishing people that love to press buttons. Lots of people get mad at this.

I played one of the commentators at EVO...Jeff Hunter or something like that? He beat me, but it was a close game. Afterwards, he was complaining about how braindead Leo is. Made me laugh.

Learn to faultess. :P

I play Leo. I can confirm he's braindead.

5A is stupidly weaker and anti-DP stuff in this game is far too strong vs a DP as average as Mitsuru's.

I'm just saying that for someone at GB's level. You can still go online and beat pretty much anyone at mid level with 5A and DP, I can vouch for it, I'm living proof both offline and online.

Also let's not downplay too hard, Mitsuru's DP is amazing; best anti-crossup DP in the game, forces characters to punish her airborne when she has meter (which is bad for quite a few cast members that can't convert from ground to air easily) and if you block it facing her back in the air, it's mostly safe.

And the day I see top Mitsurus in arcade stop running trains on people with 5A bullying is the day I stop saying that move is good. That clock's not ticking down any time soon.

Literally the reason i play Leo. The majority of times i maul ppl with him is b/c they just dont stop pressing buttons

I agree that it's fun to smack characters who don't stop pressing buttons.

I will also note that in the Xrd online I played, that Xrd is definitely the style of game where you are pretty much pressing buttons all the time, so it's probably jarring to fight a character that can shut it down so easily.

I think it depends on the game. I think a lot of newbies learn the fireball zoning/keepaway and tend to rely on that a lot. Then when they fight a character that just hard counters fireball zoning or a player who just knows that strategy inside and out, they get blown up.

I've seen it a lot myself, dudes who rely on the fireball zoning are not very good at adjusting on the fly.

That said, I don't like Shoto's just because they're pretty boring characters and you always see them online. SNK(P) Shoto's get a pass because they're changed up a bit from game to game. And Ryu's got a Parry in SF5 so that alone greatly changes him up.

I've been helping plan and coordinate this event since its inception and I hope people tune in. NYGX is a labor of love for us and I'm hoping that even if you haven't played VF you'll check out what we've been able to muster up after about a year of planning. It feels too self-serving to make a thread for NYGX, but I'll drop a link in FGW when we go live.

Pretty slick trailer, definitely wont miss this. is shidosha gonna be there though?

I find it the opposite. People and newbies who think rushdown is the only way to play and get mad that people zone.
It's almost like you believe that my adding inconsequential, intermittent sarcasm to an OT that basically nobody else was willing to accept responsibility for is somehow worse than hijacking the first page every week to crowdsource market data for your personal fighting game project.

:P
Usually the 2nd page or later actually lol. Besides anyone can voice an opinion, its public so anyone in the biz can read it, and its good we voice stuff. Lord knows when I'll be done but a lot of folks in the biz read Neogaf. At least this way more stuff gets discussed than who won or lost and salt so maybe your responses can reach folks more important and capable than me. :P

Besides it gives folks something to discuss to kick off the week and its fun. Every FGC member seems to have opinions on whats best and worst and where they wish things would go in the genre. Might as well make that a weekly thing for folks to enjoy doing.

In which games? Because in SF, I notice that newbies tend to runaway a lot and rely on fireball zoning. I can't speak for Anime fighters.
Ultra, SFIV. I got a message the other day that people who only do fireballs and throw are cancer. Never mind I was trying to work on my fireball and throw games. Lol.

It might just be how scrubby the current population of PS4 is right now.
All I'm saying is, there is some amount of hypocrisy in complaining about me tooting my own horn then immediately posting a big picture with your name and avatar on it.
Love you too buddy.
I'm just joking around with you. You've gotta be able to see the humor in what you did.
Oh I know what I did there. :P
I'm mainly referring to the Jojo pop. It'd be like me doing an OT and pushing TVC...new readers probably wouldn't get the sarcasm because they have no reference point on me as a poster. Same for any of us really. Its why objectivism is pretty important.

I think the FG with the best revanue model is probably DOA using free to play and their pervy artists in perfect concert. They had over 3 million downloads and over 1 million bought DLC packs that averaged around $15 then add their season passes that probably got a few hundred thousand adopters and double that. They really got that system down. I just don't think every fighting game developer has that skill set to put out costumes like that. The SF4 art team sure as hell coudn't Doubt Netherealm could, Ark Sys could but they are on another planet. THEN you also have DOA's arcade system which adds a bit more money still.

Except TVC is good. And Jojo is Jojo.

Your criticism has been noted and forwarded to the proper authorities for further deliberation ^_^

New readers are going to get Panda thread jokes, Frauds Among Us, getting retro'd, or Yams in general?

Also this concern requires you to believe that new posters come into any GAF threads after reading the OP which....

Beyond most fg devs ken. Also what fighting game outside of KOF and AOF where you can beat a girl out her clothes into her bra and panties.
King and Yuri...MMMMM
ShinMaruku, you should probably know best. Are DOA TOs still enforcing the costume softban?
