i5-4690K & 290X here and I got through all of the intro videos and played part of the 1st chapter...never noticed any stuttering or frame drops and I have everything set to it's maximum (what limited options there are)

Someone isn't running into issues?!

Burn the witch!

I'll be testing this on an i7-970 and a GTX970 shortly, still stuck at work.

Has anyone found out what it means by character speed boost?

I wanna know what's causing the issues on my PC. I wonder if it's a driver issue? I'm gonna try updating my drivers later and try again. It's probably just the game, but it would be nice if this was fixable.

People have to understand that buying 30 fps games opens the door to new other enemies: limited resolutions, mouse cursor curse, performance issues, etc.

Please, stop buying half arsed games. Doing it only send a message, improve your games before launch. Do not be afraid to tarry without games. They will arrive, and better.

If you pass a bad job, next one will be worse. So easy. Refund until they fix their shit.

So it's a shit port? Boy do I regret preordering this.

Hardly the worst but... Uh...

Yeah, it's a far cry from the Golden Standard set by Valkyria Chronicles and Sega's glorious PC ports.

SE needs to get their shit together on this, this is the 5th less-than-stellar port in a row, they're approaching Tecmo territory at this rate.

Can anyone with AMD hardware report on performance and usage?

Well, my CPU is an AMD FX6300 and I'm getting constant 30FPS, so uh...

Though benchmarking is a moot point since performance is capped out.

Here's something for sheer randomness. I installed the latest nvidia drivers (I was still using the ones that were released during the Win 10 launch) and rebooted.

Now I only get stutters if I have AA enabled. Doesn't matter what level AA, but if AA is on I get the stutters. If AA is off, it runs fine even with everything else enabled.

I want to say maybe it runs better on AMD hardware since it's most likely a direct console port but not sure. One steam forums someone with a 270x was dropping frames but they were running max settings

Completed first mission, zero technical issues, game runs smoothly on GTX970 (AA left on normal)

Now:
- camera appears to be worse than PS4 version. Got stuck twice not being able to see my characters, never happened on PS4.
- button icons always refers to keyboard, even when playing with a pad. So swapping to a new character, or Eidolon, creates confusion
- lock-on/harvesting is still awful and mechanical
- most textures simply had a crappy filter applied on them and look awful when getting close to them
- lightning is way off, playing with contrast options doesn't help

Wanted to play a better version of the game for £20, but this is just a waste of money.

To get the controller button icons you need to change Input to controller in the launcher.

I'll wait on this and get Grandia 2 for now. Assuming Grandia 2 also isn't botched to hell and back.

G2 is a far superior game and 10 less. Sorry to the big fans of Type-0.

Sounds like AA is the problem?

Judging by the comparison screenshots last page, maybe the AA read on NeoGAF that this is a PSP game and is working double time to make sure it looks like a PSP game, causing a ton of bottlenecks?

edit: Jokes aside
but i can't play normally because it show keyboard button prompts while i playing with xbox one gamepad =/

Go back to the launcher, and change the "Input" setting from QWERTY to controller.

I wonder if S-E's partnerships with Valve and MSI in marketing this will influence them to patch it in a timelier manner than their FF13/2 patches.

you have to change the prompts in the launcher.

The photo mode is actually pretty cool. You can get it by pressing both the triggers at the same time. I'm not sure where it saves your pictures though, i needed to take this with Afterburner

Also, you can quit with a controller by pressing both start and select at the same time, and move super fast by pressing in the left stick.

Well, the AA they're using is pretty terrible anyway from the looks of things. I'll inject SMAA and be done with it. Was just weird for AA not to be causing stutters as long as I had Screen Space Shadows disabled, but soon as I updated the driver and rebooted any form of in-game AA causes the stutters.

Just.. really random.

How fast are we talking?

There's a certain thing that happens in the game where your cadets are super sped up, have you played this before to know what I'm talking about and is it just toggling that on?

If you use a controller and press L3 you can speed up your movement 2 and 3 times respectively. it's pretty hilarious jumping around as ace like a jackrabbit on crack.

Also the mouse controls are hilarious, moving the cursor up and down determines forward and backwards movement and the scrollwheel is side to side camera, its actually more hilarious than it is sad.

Disappointing port though. Squeenix needs to step up.

Yeah, and the right click camera feels like Joystick emulation.

IDK, everything about this feels like I'm playing it in PPSSPP.

Did people who make and test this never hold a KBM-controlled game in their life?
A rhetorical question I suppose, even FFXIV devs usually play their own game with a gamepad.

So is there any way to have the icons not display keyboard controls? Cause it makes it a little inconvenient for contextual actions.

FFXIV plays great on both, though.

But yeah, this game is clearly not designed with a keyboard and mouse in mind. To be honest, I'm fine with that. Every PC gamer should own a gamepad for certain genres.

AA they are using (if it is the same as consoles), is a superior SMAA.

look nice
there is some nice filters option in the psp emulator
like CRT and Cartoon

My impressions so far:
-Stupid glitch prevents European user to play it without touching some Windows settings.
-IQ seems good (maybe SSAA I think for the best AA setting).
-No troubles so far.

Seems like a straight port with better AA options and that's it. Too bad they don't allow downsampling though.
