This sounds kind of rough. I'll wait and see if they fix some stuff or wait on a sale. PC development continues to elude some JP devs I guess. =/

How is this a bad port when it is superior to any other version of it? I don't get PC gamers sometimes
When you only support 2 rendering resolutions. One of which there are literally 0 monitors of that native resolution. Something is VERY wrong. That essentially leaves you with 1 usable resolution. And leaves the rest of the user base SOL if they don't have a 1080p monitor or their monitor and the game don't get along.
This is more insulting when the game clearly has 0 problem rendering at super high resolutions like 4k.

Compare this to Gurumin which supported only up to 1080p but if you have less than a 1080p monitor selecting 1080p will allow the game to render at your native resolution. And that game DOES have problems rendering at higher than 1080p. http://u.cubeupload.com/MrBonk/game2015040202563448.png

The game is unplayable in it's current state for me.

Do you enjoy having a mouse cursor stuck in the middle of the screen? Or having to move it off to the side where it is still noticeable every time you start the game? Having Audio Desync or having the audio pop and crackle? Do you enjoy being unable to play at a device's native resolution or downsample 1080p to your native res so IQ isn't upscaled? Do you enjoy non-stop screen tearing?

FFS, we don't have impossibly high standards. We have very BASIC standards that there shouldn't be a problem fulfilling.
Even smaller ,lesser known studios and games manage to be way better.

That doesn't mean it does everything wrong, there are things it does very well! Far better than previous ports. It nixes the performance issues, FMV quality issues, Audio issues of XIII/XIII-2 for example

Its not a good port either. Thats just a direct port. Although, European ysers cant play it if they dont change a setting in Windows.

It's not a direct port when you got shadow options and 4K downsampling that doesn't appear on any other version of the game. Yes there are issues with people not being able to play the game because of commas. But there are people trying to run this game downsampled from 4K and saying that it runs horribly and that it's a bad port.

It makes no sense to me.

Get a refund. Sucks that people have experienced those issues. Haven't had an issue other than having to move the mouse out of the way. Game has played superior to the other platforms for me. So that's why I'm saying it's not a bad port.

Another thing that I'm tired of is people expecting companies for figure out ever variable possible on an open platform like PC. Just blows my mind that people think it's supposed to be some walk in the park to have a small porting team get a game to run optimally on every single thing out there.

Not only downsampled but also post processing. It seems that according to their blog, any option for AA, starting from High is downsampling.

Where do you see people saying that? 4k downsampled to 1080p with max settings for me only uses ~75% GPU usage on my 980. Performance isn't the problem with the port.

AA settings are as follows: Off (NoAA), Normal (Temporal AA), High (Temporal AA + 1.5x1.5 SSAA), Highest (Temporal AA + 2x2 SSAA).

It's not specifically locked to 1620 and 2160. It's based off the base resolution.

Highest for example only takes up 35% Usage on my 980 at 720p. Because Highest would then be essentially 2560x1440p.

Initially people were running with Anti-aliasing on very high on lower end cards and crying that they were getting FPS drops into the 20s not knowing it was downsampling from 4k or 1440p.

yeah they need to clarify those things on the launcher not on a blog post in japanese lol.

but yes the game still needs a patch to sort out all the other problems.

Although not the best indicator when you look at the Steam hardware stats and you have a total of 35.87% of surveys have a resolution of 1280x720 or 1920x1080 (because practically every panel ever made that's labeled as HD or 720p ready is actually 1366 x 768 and works slightly differently on a PC than a TV designed to accept a 720p signal) and only 3.64% using a resolution over 1920x1080 then fundamentally you're not accounting for 60.49% of surveyed display resolution under 1920x1080. Even if you remove the 26.61% of 1366x768 displays you still have 33.88% not accounted for with some popular display resolutions like 1440x900, 1600x900 and 1650x1050 having no native option.

Okami HD done by HexaDrive did the same right? Presented at 1920x1080 but rendered at 3840x2160? Fixed platform sensibilities it seems.

Aside from the FMV stutter/crackling audio, I'm running the game fine at High AA locked at 30FPS, 1080P. Good enough for now, hoping for pitches down the line, at least for the comma issue for folks and the FMV stutter.

That comma thing is crazy. They should at least have had regional testing on this game for countries that don't use decimals or whatnot. Also, the mouse issue with it being on screen and having to exit using a mouse is bothersome.

I guess they'll get around to adding other resolution options for those that are having issues with that and the audio as well.
