MGSV:TPP LAUNCH TRAILER

Wow, I'm blown away. Stunning trailer. Going to pour one out for Kojima and his team once I get the game. It's going to be awesome!

I dont understand the spoiler. You guys can't seriously actually believe that that
transition is saying Big Boss is Skullface right? That makes no sense at all.

I think the real spoiler is not
the fact Big Boss becomes Skullface, or anything of that nature... It's probably just symbolism to show that by going down that path, Big Boss becomes pretty much the equivalent of Skullface.

The Spoiler is that we get to see a burned up Big Boss character model, which in itself strongly hints that we might get an epilogue of sorts where we see Solid Snake killing and burning Big Boss to crisp with a Zippo and Lighter, as in "MG2 Solid Snake". That's what's spoilerish to me. I mean, would Kojima and team bother to make a Burned Big Boss character model just for show in the trailer ?... It's bound to have some relevance... Then again, MGS4 had the Zombie Facecamo, so maybe that's the updated version of that.. If it turns out the game features the Snake vs Big Boss Zanzibar Land fight, I'll be pissed that the Trailer spoiled it in advance, basically.

I know. But Les Enfants Terribles was not done by FOX unit, unless I'm missing something.

You are right LET was not done by FOX but by the Patriots. But in the end it all goes back to Zero. He is the commander of FOX then starts a new organization the "patriots" codename cipher. It's a fucking mess.

For me, that metal gear doesn't even exists. The ground spikes when it bashes it's sword to the ground... We've seen that before, from a scene of obvious hallucination in previous trailers when he's running away from it using a car. Also, skullface thing is metaphorical. There's no spoilers in this trailer, I believe.

Interesting.

Given we know of a certain character as a child in this, maybe.

It does, its Metal Gear
ST-84
from the E3 2014 trailer, same code name also.

If you want me to explain the scene to you I can, but its a spoiler with context

Yes they used her embryo and injected it into Eva as a surrogate mother, she gave them birth, have you guys played MGS4.

Yeah you're right, it's my bad, I watched the twitch marathon to review my knowledge (from many years ago) but skipped MGS4, lol.

One of the badges Skull Face drops lands behind Big Boss's pouch. The camera shows the badge falling out of the sky and landing there when you roll around on the ground a lot.

That was a gag for a collectible. Do you really think Big Boss collecting badges for the heck of it is part of the actual canon/main story. Did Solid Snake and Raiden really go back in time and do the events of Tanker and Big Shell over and over again on higher difficulties to collect all the dog tags?

Yeah. We were just talking about the meaning of the two phrases "From FOX two Phantoms were born." and "FOX vs. XOF"

Someone mentioned the phantoms are Liquid and Snake, but I think Big Boss and Skull Face make more sense. There's definitely a theme of mirror images and two sides of the same coin being shown in the trailers. BB and SF being opposites and then eventually the same. It follows from the theme of BB descending into evil and becoming a demon.

"Unfortunately due to shipping restrictions put in place by the publisher we can only ship these on SAT and not earlier but these should still arrive in time"

Regards
Tris

Damn you shopto :( fought I would be able to get it early.

That has to be a bit of misdirection. Konami has been so damn strict with the press to avoid spoilers, that there's NO WAY that they would just spoil something HUGE on their own.

There's no way. Right? RIGHT?

Not that your point isnt valid, because it is, but how was it obvious?

It's obvious because it shows the gradual transition from a hero to a tortured man to a villain. Big Boss is a hero in MGS 3, Big Boss is a villain in MGS 1, Phantom pain will show this transformation.

It also shows the hero becoming the very thing he fought against. "You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain." etc.

I'm all ears, if you're kind enough. The only spoiler I care about is how the game ends. If this don't spoil me that, I'm ok about an explanation.

Dude, they made it clear that Skull Face was stripping all XOF identification off of themselves for a reason. Yes, them dropping the badges is canon. It's perfectly reasonable to assume that everything that happens in the GROUND ZEROES mission is canon.

Damn the start of the trailer gave me mad chills.

And when the metal gear stood upright... Holy shit.

I didn't enjoy zone of the enders nor its sequel, but that was cool.

You're basically making up your own story here. Literally anything is possible if you start from the position that everything they've shown us is a lie in GZ. There just isn't a good reason to believe that though.

Also, both Chico and Paz don't want BB to save them because it was all a setup. Chico's distress call was done under orders of Skull Face.

But it's possible and there are outright hallucinations seen in the trailer, and we don't know what those weird flashes of light mean at all that have shown up (not just in the trailers, but was present in GZ as well as the badges were falling).

Those are reason enough to think that there's a good possibility of a "everything is not as it seems" type deal along the same lines of Fight Club.

Chico seemed like he was fearing for his own life when he saw Big Boss in GZ. And again, this is Kojima, the guy who wrote about a Liquid's arm taking over Ocelot (which turned out to be Ocelot hypnotizing himself into believing that).

This is not as far of a stretch as you try to make it out to be, it's well within Kojima's scope of WTF-ness he's done in the past titles.

Anyways I hope I'm wrong, but Kojima has spoiled stuff in the past in his trailers.

Dropping the badges was canon, but the collecting of the badges was not. The pouch badge was a gag.

Anyways I've made my case already, that's enough of that discussion.

media blackout...was tempted to watch this one tho...read a few of the posts and one was "spoiler alert"...backed out real quick lol

I love the horror vibes going on in Phantom Pain. There's the hospital sequence from first and even the way this Metal Gear is filmed makes it seem scary.

I'm not saying nanomachines, but a missing link between Metal Gears that randomly appears, Big Boss having a robotic arm, and somehow Grey Fox is created with out any history in cybernetics. Grey Fox can only be created because of nanomachines created long ago. Used to bridge the gap between robot arm (Big Boss), walking battle tank, and the most badass soldier known to man. Think about it, it can only be.....

this thing looks unbelievable in motion. 60fps cut scenes are the new standard.

koji pro are at the top of their game, just like they were in the ps2-era.

the tanker chapter still looks incredible.

Trailer started off well but the phantom pain but just felt too random . E3 trailers were so much better.

It reminds me of that fan made trailer that goes through the past games culminating in the phantom pain.

At least he got to say directed by hideo kojima one last time .
