MGSV:TPP LAUNCH TRAILER

media blackout...was tempted to watch this one tho...read a few of the posts and one was "spoiler alert"...backed out real quick lol

man can people stop coming into threads to say that they're not going to watch, no one is going to give you a gold star for going on a media blackout

Man mgs2 is a fucking ageless game. It looks gorgeous even by today's standards.

I know mgs1 was a looker for its time, but it really looked like a sore thumb compared to the other games. They really need to make an HD version or remaster for it. Not remake it like twin shits.

I'm watching the MGS2 playthrough by Giant Bomb, and that game still looks damn good. I always had the opinion that it looks as good(And better than some) PS3/360 games.

Yeah. We were just talking about the meaning of the two phrases "From FOX two Phantoms were born." and "FOX vs. XOF"

Someone mentioned the phantoms are Liquid and Snake, but I think Big Boss and Skull Face make more sense. There's definitely a theme of mirror images and two sides of the same coin being shown in the trailers. BB and SF being opposites and then eventually the same. It follows from the theme of BB descending into evil and becoming a demon.

Could be possible and Skullface operates under Cipher's orders but the shit is, the Patriots/Zero and Big Boss use the same codename: Cipher.

That felt like Kojima saying goodbye.

It broke my heart a bit, not going to lie, some minor tears felt like they were going to be coming up, especially given how even after all of the shit Konami did to him, they let him push a trailer that almost confirms everything that's happened and it's Kojima's final words to us.

Heartbreaking stuff.

Interesting,
The Ground Zeros app got an update today. Super small but timing is kinda weird.
Wonder if it will be used in TPP?

OH SHIT

Don't know if it's been noticed yet, but in the hallway scene
that looks like MGS3 outfits, along with the face, including the original radio and the experimental sneaking suit.

I'm all ears, if you're kind enough. The only spoiler I care about is how the game ends. If this don't spoil me that, I'm ok about an explanation.

The kid Eli thinks he is a LET, and Big Boss is his "Dad" (He is not a genetic match). They fight. Eli commandeers the ST-84, and chase Big Boss trying to kill him (The scene in the trailer)

I don't think that Metal Gear belongs to Big Boss.

It's even crazier to think that the themes raised in that game reflect what's going on today. I recently replayed it a couple weeks ago & had a total mindfuck during the
Campbell AI
part.

Hey it might not even show up in the game. I think they could have done a better job on his face.

True, but it's not the face that I want.

It's the fucking suit. If there's a white one, I'ma die.

And, someday, if they let us equip Quiet with it or put it on a female DD soldier, I'ma resurrect, and die again.

How can a 70s Metal Gear be more advanced than 2000s

It doesnt make sense but Kojima doesnt seem to be the kind of guy who wants to let the past restrain his current projects. He's just going to do whatever he wants to do to make what he thinks is good.

On one hand that means we get a cooler product, on the other that means continuity is a little weird. I'm willing to let it slide.

The whip/sword on the Metal Gear is the same colour as that whale and Volgin apparition from the other trailers

Seems like a clear indication to me that scene isn't as literal as it appears. Maybe a hallucination

Wat spoiler? I can't tell.

Also that metal gear looks awesomely intimidating but C'mon you're telling me thats Rex and Rays predecessor? If anything it's 10 years ahead of them.

Fucking hell,if you haven't seen the trailer yet... be warned, there's at least two gigantic spoilers. This is not a rehashe trailer like I thought it would be.

That said, knowing it's the last MGS trailer to be directed by Kojima, damn, brings a tear to my eye.

There's no spoilers in the trailer unless you haven't been following the game.

The Metal Gear was already shown in a previous trailer. I have no idea what you think the other one is

Yes, I had no idea how the new Metal Gear was going to look like.

The other one is the skullface scene, although to be fair it created more questions then it revealed.

Maybe he was rebuilding from scratch again, a lot of the tech was lost with the creator, and it was probably the first thing he got going when Snake was sent in to eff things up. Kinda like if a drug lord gets released and gets busted again with a cheap hooker and a pea shooter before he can even get home to his gold plated rocket launcher and pallets of cocaine. That's what I'd try to write off the gap in production coolness with.

Also the exact shot after MGS3 Big Boss is Peace Walker Big Boss.

It was all the different iterations of Big Boss which is why the assumption on the last one is holding some weight for me. I personally still think it's more metaphorical.

As far as time travel theories go, I wouldn't put it past Kojima. Especially since Raiden was in Snake Eater. It'd be funny if he worked that in to canon.

Love it when people get so antsy over spoilers when:
  • They are not sure if it is a spoiler or not
  • They are not aware that it was already shown/suggested/hinted earlier
  • They don't know what a spoiler is

Launch trailers are always entertaining post-trailer.

Shagahod was cool. This ain't.

What i liked about MGS3 was how Kojima showed restrains on the kind of tech gadgets employed, but just as with Peace walker, i don't like this new Metal Gear. Seems way too far out in tech of the era. This is as silly as Raiden stopping a damn battle cruiser!

That's not a scene from the game, it appears to just be created for the trailer to show the progression of Big Boss from who he was in MGS3 (hero) to who he is now (villain) which is why Skullface is also shown, as they are alluding to the similarities

Big Boss does not literally transform while walking down a hallway

I'm more ok with this than I am with them going from that to Rex. 8bit games weren't made with this kind of story growth in mind. Plus that could easily just be explained as the limitations of the MSX. Rex however clearly feels inferior to this Metal Gear.

Guys, I've heard about the
whip
and the
Big Boss into Skullface transition
, are there any more spoilers in this trailer?

A simple "yes" or "no" is cool with me.

Im sure kojima will have some bullshit nanomachines/patriots/ai/hypnopsychotherapy esque explaination of why tech progressed and was stagnated in order to control shit. Im just speculating, but you all know it will be a metal geary explaination.

The form of the new mg was guessable if you looked close enough at the models, and the e3 trailer where it shows
it standing upright with the arms unfolded on Mother Base

Why does it have a giant jackhammer strapped to its right wrist tho?

I'd say no, but I don't consider either the things you tagged to be spoilers, so take what as you will.

Yeah it's kind of funny, what if this trailer was actually the debut trailer? Would it have been a spoiler then?

Think about it, it's so vague that it could have been shown in 2012 already and we still wouldn't know crap about the game.
