MGSV:TPP LAUNCH TRAILER

Kinda off topic -- but just thinking about it, did Volgin's electricity powers ever get explained? I don't really care if they did or not, but in a game with such masturbatory exposition, it's interesting that it isn't covered.

Don't believe so.

A fair few characters don't get much explanation tbh, The Pain, The Sorrow etc etc Volcan Raven or Mantis.

No but I mean it's kinda par for the course I think. I'd like a little explanation too but the series just is what it is at this point. I mean forget Volgin, how about the entirety of the Cobra unit?

With Les Enfants Terribles in the mix I kinda just chalk everything up to "genetic experiments have been going on long before they were publicized".

Some of them even have drills instead of treads/legs, spinning sideways, and still moving the tank forward lol.

Completely fair points, I guess it's just I spent more time with Volgin than the rest of the Cobra unit that I thought about Volgin more.

Nanomachines! Except in the 60's they hadn't gotten down to nano scale yet, so they were micromachines. Probably.

Psychics, ghosts, clone soldiers, clone soldiers that are the POTUS, bee men, cybernetic ninja, men possessed by hands, electric Russians, models stuck in robot animal armor, and magic Native American shaman are one thing ...

Really hate the Big Robot Penis on the new Metal Gear. I know, it's Kojima and MGS, lololol etc, but it's just impossible to take seriously and from the looks of it, it's not intended to be funny.

It's nothing new.

Believe me I'm with you on your point but then again I got bashed for wanting the story to be more realistic earlier so what can you do :)

The MGS series has this wired way of making it feel like a serious game with no supernatural quality's.
Then all of a sudden, it will throw you a curve ball and remind you that it goes hand in hand with the supernatural and it just seems to fit. So you kinda don't notice it stand out.

The only characters I'm aware of that get explanations about there ability's are from MGS2.

Got past the Kojima penis thing long ago

The concept art makes it look like Robot Penis, but ingame it always looked like a part of the cockpit/'beak' (no pun intended) to me. The new Metal Gear is more humanoid (doesn't help), and Robot Penis is waay more obvious and pronounced.

Can't believe I'm having a discussion about Pronounced Robot Penis. Kojimaaaaaaaa

Almost always? Nope.... neh....

Agreed. I haven't seen many examples where it's this pronounced and also not supposed to be funny. Guilty Gear is often semi-comical in its character designs so RoboPenis makes sense to me there.

All that said about Metal Groin, I love the rest of the design. Almost like something out of Shadow of the Colossus.

It's a lazer to attack enemies who take advantage of going underneath Rex.
Kojima wanted to fool ppl into thinking it was Rex in some form.

Ppl have willy on the brain.

Looks like a willy, hur hur

I don't know if "pretentious" is the word, but I'm with you. Every time a new MGS trailer comes out, people go ape shit over whatever song they used, and I always think "Really?" and bite my tongue. No accounting for taste.

What kind of music do you like and what are your favorite songs?

Phew! I was all for less cutscenes but thank god it's still as batshit insane as ever.

I also love that it turns out Otacon is shit at building Metal Gears and basically set Metal Gear development back 30 years.

I think nearly all of Kojima's picks for "emotional" songs throughout the series have been duds.

Can't Say Goodbye to Yesterday, Calling To The Night, Here's to You.... all of that.

They're all really overwrought songs that never connect with me, and it's pretty odd because I love me a cheesy ballad here and there.

I ironically enjoy them as part of the strange brew that Kojima has mixed, but no, I don't enjoy them at face value.

The only ones that are good are Best is Yet to Come, Way to Fall and (recorded for the series itself) Snake Eater.

I'm more interested on how Big Boss went from the Ultimate Metal Gear with whip sword things to this:

Star Wars reasoning. Sci-fi from the 80s is simply outdated. Simple as that

The disparity between black and white isn't enough to describe how much I disagree with you.

Oh right thanks. I wish Kojima had him without the eyepatch to show the full evolution.

I kinda wanted horned bloody boss to turn to old big boss from mgs4. I mean you basically see the guy's evolution from young soldier to legendary evil soldier.

Imagine how cool big boss's mgs4 model would look in fox engine. Dat trench coat (miller style) and eye patch.

I saw Solid Snake in the beginning of the trailer and closed the trailer, this means we are finally going to have Solid Snake in his young age again. I am speculating, because the scene in the beginning of the trailer was from Metal Gear Solid, so I am assuming Kojima is hyping Solid Snake again.
