All the hype got me to dive in on mgsv from steam. Luckily "can I run it" was wrong about my PC; said it didn't reach min requirements and yet I max the settings no problem in ground zeroes. I'm amazed how short gz is though, I see what the outrage was about now. Hopefully the side missions will keep me content till release.
I actually really liked Drebin, was hoping maybe he'd show up in Metal Gear Rising.
Is the story as light as people were saying?
I like Drebin as a character, but he was the nadir of MGS4's verbal diarrhea, redundant dialogue and unfocused storytelling.
I actually like the high-concept twist in MGS4 with Ocelot tricking the Patriots and all that, but the way the whole story was delivered was so clunky.
If someone could refine MGS4's story and streamline its structure so it doesn't seem so splintered, then I could find myself agreeing it's GOTY-worthy.
But even though I think it's flawed -- deeply, deeply flawed -- I've gone through it multiple times and have an odd fondness for it.
I've been in the spoiler thread. Story will be "light" across the game, but the twist will definitely cause meltdowns. It happened to me, for one.
It's going to be a very divisive game for fans of the series, that's for sure.
Don't know I'd say that, but brace yourself. I think a lot of people are going to be pissed at the grand reveal. I personally think the twist is brilliant. But you won't see it coming, and it changes everything.
For me, it made me go from "I'll try this game later" to "whoa, that's daring, I might need to play this soon."

I've got lots left to do, I'm pretty crap this time round in GZ, but completed the other games multiple times. I'm not used to no-cones vision enemies on the mini-map anymore and getting spotted from way off catches me off-guard, especially gauging the white indication marker and how/if I'll be seen.
Just gotta try side ops now, not sure what to do though in terms of GZ>TPP transfer. I assume I'll have to go collecting and rescuing a few peeps in the helicopter in GZ and they'll end up in TPP on MB somehow?

I have never see a 85 page spoiler thread pre release. Shits cray.
You know some people (not me) will consider that a spoiler. Now people will fully expect something crazy to happen at the end, e.g. if you're watching a new episode of a show and your friend suddenly texts you "did you see the episode?! It was SICK!" you're already aware that something is about to happen and some of the surprise will be gone.
With shit like this you've got to be extra careful. =]

It's going to be interesting to say the least. This twist is not self-contained, it actually sends ripples to other games. I consider it to be quite massive. Personally I didn't like it, but yeah, it will be interesting to watch and discuss in a few days.

On the spoiler thread some people are actually quite happy about the twist. Others (Like me) are pissed. It is VERY divisive. So I can't tell you if it's good or bad, that's something you will decide for yourself.
If you want some very specific answers without going into the spoiler thread, PM me and I will answer.
I'll edit them out if you want. But I seriously didn't say anything from which you can actually deduce anything. I was trying to compare a level of surprise, not an actual development in the plot.
