Destiny: TTK Legendary edition is now digital

Bungie already said they are selling the CE emotes and stuff separately for $20. It sounds like however that I won't be able to just buy TTK digitally since I have the base disc for Destiny and the two DLC downloaded or am I missing something?

TTK is $40 digitally for those with the base game and the prior two expansions.

Are the ps4 bonuses worth it over the Xbox one version?

I think that's a personal opinion. If you're deciding between the 2, first I'd prioritize friends/possible play buddies.

1) Do your friends play on either or have the potential to play on 1 versus the other? If so, I'd say that outweighs the exclusives.

If that isn't an issue, I'd get ps4. Not only do you get the exclusives, there is a bigger community in DestinyGAF at least. You usually won't have a hard time finding people to do stuff with here for ps4.

In my opinion, the few extra weapons, and extra strike and PvP map, is always worth it. For something I spend a great deal of time with, I like having all the content.

TTK will have 1 extra strike (dungeon), 1 PvP map, and 1 exotic weapon. Along with that is some legendary armor but don't know what that entails. It's not a whole lot on the surface but I think the strike alone is nice.

Will all that being said, if you're huge into PvP, xbox is definitely, harder on average. At least the competitive PvP mode of Trials. This is not to say ps4 has weaker pvpers but on average the teams are harder for Xbox in trials. I do find myself playing with Kids a lot on LFG (DESTINYLFG, a website to look for people to play with).

I wrongly assumed £39.99 for digital TKK was good value but for players of the game since Sept last year there is no value to be found. You're being screwed over. I paid £85 for Destiny and the first 2 DLC and now another £40 for TKK whilst new players get it all for $50 or so? Bungie can go fuck themselves to death.

I have no idea what's going on with this games purchasing options anymore.

You can read my 1st post above, but basically since it's only 3 weeks away, you have a new option to purchase the legendary edition in Digital that comes with base and all 3 expansions, can play the first 2 expansions now even, for only $60.

This happens in any game that has dlc, the dlc will always become cheaper.

You are overreacting in this.

Depends on why you'd want the Xbox One version. If most of your friends are there, definitely get it there. If you prefer that controller, get it there. The extra content on the PS4 version has been mediocre at best except for the Hawkmoon handgun, which you're not guaranteed to get if you have the PS4 version anyway. The Dust Palace strike is awful. The Undying Mind is tedious but much better than Dust Palace.

I've decided I'll just buy the retail taken King legendary edition since I didn't play anything but the vanilla game before trading it in.

So you're ok with paying £39.99 for TTK but not ok that new players can get everything for £59.99?

I prioritized content over friends at launch, and regretted it so much that I rebought it on XB1 last week to play with friends, and I'm now 31. I say go where your friends are.

And yet there's still no way for someone who owns all of the content up to this point to get the new dance emotes without rebuying all of said content again.

Sigh.

They're offering a solution so that you don't have to repurchase all the old content. Granted the solution is terrible, but it's still a solution (20 dollars on top of the 40 dollars for the TTK expansion nets you the bonus content).

Watching this all unfold, I can't help but feel like this entire fan base (myself included) is a test group for the next generation of games. It's almost unheard of the way dlc and content is being fed to us inch by inch, and we are happy to soak it up with our wallets and cash.

I guess we really are telling them this is the way we like it. Though it seems quite odd and a little squeamish to me at times when looking at it all at face value.

Really can't help my excitement for TTK all the same lol.

Okay so I have Destiny, Dark Below and House of Wolves all digital. Which version do I need to buy that just gets me The Taken King (Digital) and all the digital bonuses of the collectors edition?

Get the digital Taken King for $40. If you want the extras, they'll be available separate for $20. Which I don't suggest as that's crazy over priced, but that's me.

I have the physical game and DB + HoW digitally. I'm just going to buy the legendary physical version assuming it comes with a code for TTK. then hopefully I can just trade in the rest for at least $25 or so.

So confused...I don't even know what I bought...

I'm so confused, I don't know what TO buy.

I have the fucking "year one" digital guardian package already.

None of this seems like a good value.

If I get the standalone TTK DLC, I miss out on a lot of content, it seems.

I'm open to suggestions here.

Sigh.

The solution is to not buy it. I don't think I will regret not being able to do the MC Hammer.

You will miss out on some emotes and class items that(that you will likely find superior replacements for in-game). Don't sweat it. It can certainly be argued that it isn't sgood value, but I figure I will get a couple hundred hours of gameplay for $40. Not bad.

Nah. You get everything but nine cosmetic items.

What are they?

I just think it's fucked that I'm a loyal day-one player, willing to shell out $40 for this expansion, and I get short changed on the content they're giving to other people.

It really does feel like a middle finger up my ass...but I realize that's beating a dead horse at this point.

I own the physical copy. No DLC. If I buy this digital version will I lose my progress or does the Bungie account keep things in sync? Hate to have to grind all that crap again.

Can't wait to see what else gets revealed before release if Bungie thinks it's worth £40 (the price I paid for the full game at launch).

It's three class items, three new dances, and three armor shaders. You'll be able to pay $20 extra if you really want them.

You're not getting short changed, and they're not "giving" them to people. They're included in the $80 TTK collector's edition.

Edit: Also, the standalone $40 TTK has been up for a while, I bought it last month. You have to have the base game and both expansions in order to buy it.

Ikuu

Had his dog run over by Blizzard's CEO
As this unlocks everything but the expansion until release, as a new player should I jump in now or just wait until release? Also can I purchase this on my US account and play from an EU one, or is the content account bound?

Still can't believe how ridiculous the pricing on this is - as low as £33 on disk for everything, but £40 digitally for just The Taken King.

Wait a fucking minute

For $60 you get the base game ($60), all the DLCs($80), and more

But for TTK it's $40

What the fuck is this bullshit pricing

40 dollar edition is for owners of everything. No big deal for a game with thousands of hours in game time.

I consider $40 to be a very big deal. How can bungie give it that pricing, is TTK equal to 2/3rds of the Destiny base game? Is it equal to 2/3rds of the legendary edition? No, complete bullshit.
