Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain | Review Thread | Words That Kill

Getting annoyed at all the conflicting information about this "true" ending. I don't replay games so don't see myself going back to get this ending. I also don't follow guides or anything so it's impossible to know what I have to do to get this ending.

Who thought this was a good idea?

Complete the game then look up the other endings on YouTube.

So what I'm hearing based on most reviews from places I pay attention to is that the story itself isn't as memorable as other main entries in the series. It's apparently still good, but just doesn't have the emotional highs or crazy crescendos that the others do. Can anyone confirm without spoilers? Story is honestly one of the most exciting things about MGS no matter how confusing and complicated it might be to me.

That said, I'm still going to play the shit out of and platinum TPP cause I'm a stealth game dude.

Apparently the true ending is very divisive. I consider that being memorable.

Who is doing a no kill, no slow down reaction on the first run?
I don't like the feature anyways, always playing without Reflexmode. I will of course try to be stealthy ans non-lethal. And of course I will fuck up and people are going to die as per usual.

I got the game! One for me and one for my friend :))

Will play it now

For anyone who ordered from Simply Games today, I've just had my dispatch email. Ordered at 02:07pm, dispatch notification received at 4pm.

Might get your notifications shortly. And for anyone who is thinking about ordering from Simply Games tomorrow, well I certainly would recommend it based on the experience thus far.

What do you mean? Games have always had "true unlockable endings" since the nes days.

I'm still waiting. Ordered at like 3pm or w/e though. Hopefully I still get the mail.

You should be good. They say they honour next day delivery up to half 3. I did wonder if they'd honour that for this, what with it being a last minute pre-order, but they appear to have. My guess is you'll get your despatch notification very soon.

Nothing for me :( Ordered at 1:59pm, still says 'Pending'. Not totally upset (I was prepared to wait until Tuesday, after all) but I'd hate for people to get their hopes up only to be disappointed.

Where are you from? UK?
I placed my order at 1.45pm, no email yet :(

If you bought a PC key on G2A friend of mine contacted them asking when he'll get his key and the rep told him it was on Sep 15th, he pointed out that they moved the release date to Sep 1, rep basically didn't care, he cancelled his order and bought it on Steam.

Just informing you guys if you bought a key from them.

Exactly the same here.
Hold me.

Sorry going to ask again but could anyone who is getting this early check exactly what transfers over from GZ? All we have so far is the assumption that unique NPCs and prisoners transfer over but it would be nice to know this for sure.

*hand up*

No kill, no slow down, no 'tagged enemies marker'

Gonna learn the game first. On subsequent playthroughs I'll turn these on, once I've learnt the missions, layouts and patrols myself.

Opportunities to go blind on experiences like this come once in a lifetime...

After 10 hours this is already shaping up to be my favorite metal gear. If anyone has any questions shooot

Do they throw you in expecting to know all the controls ? I played Ground Zeroes back when it released just a bit (like 30% completion) but I don't really have time to play it again before TPP

I imagine the frustration of those restrictions would do more to harm a first playthrough, than anything else.

I don't ever want to have to restart a mission if I get seen, and I imagine going full 'No kill' would force me to do that on occasion. I want to deal with the problems the game throws at me with all of my options available.

Then I'd probably layer restrictions with each subsequent playthrough.

Can you turn off markers? If so, I'm tempted...

IT DISPATCHED

Excellent stuff.

I think the only thing that'll keep me off this game for the forseeable will be a trip up to St James' for that League Cup draw last night!

UK mate, yeah.

It'll come, I wouldn't worry just yet. I was prepared to not receive a despatch email today, and for it to be much later than this even if they did send it today.

Got an email now saying that the payment has been processed and I can't cancel the order anymore... still no dispatch though.
Sigh.

No you'll be fine. They do a good job of refreshing the player of controls

Reading all these hype posts for the dispatches makes me a bit sad I don't live in the UK or some other big country.

I've preordered games in the past, stuff like Halo Reach, Gears of War 3 and whatnot but due to international shipping I'd always get them like a week after release. Reach took 3 weeks.

Anyone who gets it early is lucky, but I'm perfectly content with waiting for the digital day 1 unlock. Beats having to wait weeks. :)

So is ordering keys from Ebay illegal in any way, or is it gray-area in the same way key selling sites like G2A are?

EDIT: Also, what is considered THE best video to get up to speed on the story leading into 5 if you've never played a metal gear game before? I bought Ground Zeroes last night, will finish that up this evening.

I'd be wary of this. This is fraud, violates the terms of use, and both Sony and Microsoft would be fully within their rights to ban you.

How exactly? I'm paying for the game and using my own account and console to play it.

Tons of people do it.
