People, don't spoil the god-tier experiences that are MGS1-4 for the sake of being up to date in time for MGSV.

If anything, MGSV's major focus seems to be gameplay and it is a prequel to anything but 3 and Peace Walker. Just go in blind and maybe google some characters if matters are indeed unclear, or play the series and just play V later. Spoiling these unique games as quickly as possible just to join the MGSV crowd is a waste imo.

It seems like it's basically an evolution of Peace Walker but it controls like Ground Zeroes.

In fact, you should be more hyped if you didn't like PW or GZ.

The only thing is, if you didn't like member Fulton-ing or having to micro-manage your staff, which while it can be auto-managed, there are apparently some parts you have to do manually, like developing weapons and whatnot.

I think you can try it out the next day. But i am not sure. JunkerHQ might know best. But with very little entries so far, the chances of you getting it are high. lol.

That was actually my favourite part. My biggest issue was the mission structure. My EB Games called me and said they've got my CE and I still can't pick it up until Tuesday, but I was getting nervous.

Not necessarily a legal issue; that's a grey area. But giving fake or inaccurate personal information (name, payment, address, locale, etc...) is fraud and directly comes under Microsoft and Sony's rights to ban you and cancel the purchase. Not worth the savings IMO.

I didn't either but was that due to the gameplay style?

For me it was because of the hand drawn cutscenes and the tone of the story and characters.

It's a little hard to answer. I know the plot of TPP and hate what they are doing to the timeline with this game. But some other people are loving it.

It's very divisive. Hope you enjoy it.

You should be fine then, mission structure is a lot better, and the locations are varied mechanically from what I've seen.

It definitely plays a lot different than PW and, to a certain extent, GZ.

If you want, there are a couple reviews from the perspective of people who had issues with GZ or PW.

It probably has more meaning to it in the game but i remember Kojima saying in an interview V stands for Victory because japanese developers always were behind western developers when it comes to graphics, lighting etc. so he wanted to build a brand new engine called the FOX Engine that could compete with western developers.

I've played MGS1 (many times, one of my favorite games), MGS2 (several times), and MGS3 (twice or so), but I haven't played MGS4 and I don't have much motivation to.

Should I bend over backwards to play it before I touch V, or can I skip it?

I play them for the gameplay. The story honestly bores me to tears for the most part.
